The rooms were fine the ceilings were high and spacious. However we were planning a Roadtrip and the hotel advertised as supporting EV charging when in fact there are no chargers available. The staff was nice enough to try to let us use level 1 charging but that wasn't enough and it would have been dangerous for other guests as the cables would be a tripping hazard.

Wrapping up my project in Michigan, I decided that I would stay in Kalamazoo this week. Comparing this Hampton to the ones in Battle Creek and Marshall, this was great. There was no noise. At all. It's not located next to the Interstate so I didn't have trucks going past at all hours. The doors to the hallway were all "slow close" and that meant for no slamming doors. This made for an excellent stay! Clean, comfortable, quiet. Breakfast was okay (there was one morning that they had no breakfast meat at that time and only egg and cheese topped bagels that don't work for keto) with generally the usual display of eggs, meat, yogurts, fresh fruit, bread and pastries, waffle maker, oatmeal. A good spread, better if you're not eating a low carb like me. I did not use the fitness center, business center or the pool, but all of those exist. This is the first Hampton I've stayed at that is walking distance from the airport. I'm not kidding, it's barely 200 yards to the terminal from the front door. Plenty of parking here, restaurants within walking distance and close enough to the highway to make for an easy commute. My favorite Hampton in the area, I would stay here again for my next visit to K'zoo. [Review 11238 overall, 1014 of 2019.]

This is the IR plug for remote.

Nice quiet & clean room. Comfy beds, no issues. Room was not facing the airport which would've been cool. Not like the place is booked (Covid-19) but whatever. Review is lengthy, but when I read reviews I'd like to know as much as possible! Due to 'Rona, the pool and fitness centers are closed. Apparently, that's state wide so not just here. Which is a bummer. The kids like to swim. Only a few minutes from the Air Zoo Museum. Literally, like 3 minutes down the road. 20 minutes from Wolf Lake fish hatchery (something different to do) About an hour away from Saugatuck a Dune Rides. Which is fine cuz it's not crazy out of the way on the way home to Chicago. 2 hours (or 2.5 depending on traffic). The tv issues a lot of people reporting on... there's an attachment that looks like a mini camera (I'm always suspicious) , but if you have it in front of tv. the channels work just fine. I got here a day later than my husband and he was complaining about how he couldn't change the channel off the weather channel. But I remembered all the bad reviews regarding the tv, so he looked and sure enough there was this attachment to the tv and now the channels can be changed. Hardly any channels are available, but I just need to find something decent to fall asleep to. There are plenty of places to eat and/or have a drink nearby. There aren't any grocery or small convenience stores, so if you're looking for a snack, either bring some before you check in, or you'll end up at one of the many gas stations for Slim Jim's and Laffy Taffy. The hotel store has bare shelves and no water was supplied at check-in despite being an honors member. Not a big deal. Hope this review helps in choosing your stay. Decent hotel and friendly staff.

They do not have adequate parking to accommodate their guests and if the hotel is filled up you're out of luck.

Housekeeping and front desk staff were polite and helpful. I often saw housekeeping cleaning around the hotel, from restrooms to even signs. I appreciate that the hotel appeared clean and well-maintained. My room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small and a bit cramped, but it was fine for just me. Guests can conveniently park in the parking garage located across the street, which is connected to the hotel by a skywalk. You can use your hotel key to enter and exit the parking garage. Additionally, there is a box for dropping off your keys upon departure from the parking garage. It is expensive unless you get a group rate discount. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and thought the facilities were good for a conference, the staff were professional, and the location was great. It is an ideal location for anyone visiting Kalamazoo.

Overall the facilities were super nice, including the ballroom on the first floor, the ballroom on the basement level where we had meals, and the hotel itself. I parked in the parking structure across the street both days, it was expensive ($2-$2.75 per hour) but the *heated* skywalk from the structure to the hotel was super nice. My only tiny complaint is that the ballroom on the first floor was a bit cold - I didn't notice it as much yesterday, but today I'm wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt and no sweater and I'm cold. (May go retrieve my coat from the coat check!) Fun story, I also stayed at this hotel about 20 years ago when I took the test for the WMU medallion scholarship (circa late 2004/early 2005, I believe) and I remember thinking the rooms were nice then, too. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations also, I believe their restaurant is under construction but there's still a restaurant option open. Overall I really liked this hotel, at least for a conference, and would return.

Overall, very nice hotel. I stayed there for one night (last night) on business…read more Pros: -Easy check-in -Huge room, as I'm accustomed to with the Home2Suites brand. Separate galley kitchenette with almost-full-size fridge and freezer, plus sink, microwave, and, to my surprise, a dishwasher -Great location in downtown Kzoo -Very comfy bed -Free breakfast, although I did not partake because my conference offered breakfast. Cons: -This is a "co-located" hotel with the Hilton Garden Inn - the entrance off Rose St. is the Garden Inn entrance, if you're looking for Home2Suites, they will direct you to keep walking past the pool and exercise areas and then you will find the H2S lobby. -Parking. Technically no on-site parking. There is a garage directly across the street, and you can choose to either pay by the hour or pay H2S $20 for the night. The $20 gets you in and out privileges so I chose to do that. If you do that, you have to scan your card when you get out of the garage, I was warned that sometimes it doesn't work and sure enough it did not work yesterday, so I pressed the help button and they asked for my room number and then let me out. Same deal this morning too. Your room keycard will work for parking access until noon on day of checkout though, I was told. ----I only had a backpack for my one night stay but if you had a lot of luggage I could see this being annoying. The parking structure does have an elevator though or you could have someone drop you off with your luggage in front of the hotel and then they could park. As other reviews have mentioned, to use the 2nd floor skywalk you do need a hotel keycard, so when I checked in this week I walked down to the street level and walked over to the hotel that way. ----If you are looking to use the skywalk when you're in the hotel, you have to get to the first floor of H2S, walk to the Garden Inn lobby, then take the elevator or stairs to the second floor to access it. I tried to go to the second floor of H2S to access it and then realized my mistake, lol. Oops. -Pool is currently closed as of this review (March 2025). It's pretty small anyways though and I wasn't looking to swim this trip. Exercise room did look nice. Overall, however, this was a comfortable stay for me, and I would return. My room was $160 for the night and I believe that was with a Hilton Honors discount. The Garden Inn was pricier than that for the night (a Tuesday night) and usually the rooms are smaller which is why I chose H2S.

We went for Kalamazoo College reunion, and it would have been doable to walk to campus, but we drove since we were running late. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and have kitchenette's. There's a decent indoor heated pool, and a cute outdoor patio. The free continental breakfast is decent, and they did a great job refilling items and keeping things fresh. The hotel entrance is confusing and hard to find. I drove around the block trying to figure it out, and then walked to a couple doors that were wrong before walking right past the entrance and noticed it because the doors automatically opened. I was happy with our stay. I was just surprised it was $300 per night with taxes and fees. At that price it just wasn't a particularly good value. (Not including parking which is $20 per night, but since we were there over the weekend there was enough street parking which was free outside of business hours).

Doing local contractor work, I am not in the hotel much at all, and I have to pay my own travel expenses: so, can't think of anything that could meet my needs better. Again: cute, clean and comfortable! the shower water is hot and the water pressure is strong. The beds are supportive, quiet and comfortable. Lots of fluffy pillows. Soft linens. For a bonus, breakfast fits the bill: an array of choices, including hot eggs, and maple sausage. Always yogurt, peanut butter, and bakery items. Hot coffee, all easy to grab. I think I've stayed here 6 or 7 times in the last six months and I feel thankful to have found it because it makes a business trip more relaxing to know where you're going to stay and know it's going to be a pleasant experience. Uber Eats service availability was hit or miss in this area for summer 2025 at night but during the day I had no issues getting food delivered and brought right to my door. Uber rideshare coming from the airport at night to this location took a while but was available. I would probably bring a car or recommend renting one if you are getting in after dark like I was just to avoid waits. All the staff I interacted with were very pleasant and helpful to myself and other guests during my 2 night stay. Ashley (or Ashlyn, forgive me as I am a little hard of hearing sometimes) was so helpful in making local recommendations when I had questions about specific needs as well. Everyone was very attentive when guests including myself needed anything. The room I stayed in, 130, was very comfortable and it was perfect because it was towards the back right near the back exit. Convenient so you don't have to walk thru the lobby again just to get outside. I didn't bring a car, but it looked like free/self serve parking and there was tons of available parking around. Everything about the room was great for the most part. However, the shower hose in the accessible bathroom for some reason was not linked with the main connection, so I was not able to use the attachment. I love and prefer to use handheld shower hose attachments when available, so I was sad it was not working. I'm sure I could've called over to the front desk to see about using it but having gotten in after 1am and only being there for 2 nights, it was not a big deal at all. The tub still worked great, so I was able to soak in that which was a luxury for me. The floors were very clean in my room which I cannot say about some other establishments I've been in. They didn't turn my feet black lol. Much appreciated there. The blackout curtain was nice to be able to have but lots of natural light available too with the thinner drape. There was no microwave in the room sadly, but I did hear one in the lobby later, I'm guessing near the snacks market to the left of the front desk. I was able to make ramen in my room with the coffee maker and coffee as well so that was fine. Hot food options for purchase at the little Bistro in the lobby are limited on weekends unfortunately so I was not able to grab a hot breakfast on Sunday. They had grab and go items like yogurt and granola for purchase as well as fruit and some pastries. I didn't see what snacks were available in the little market stand by the front desk. Lots of complimentary coffee and tea and water in the lobby which was nice. The fitness room and laundry room were open and people were utilizing both during my stay. I thoroughly enjoyed the heated indoor pool which I had to myself at 6am and hot tub. The customer using the hot tub after me inquired about the jets being turned on. I don't know if they were able to be turned on or not (thinking they weren't), but at least the temperature in the hot tub was just right. The AC in my room was cold and crisp, perfect for the hot summer days we've had. The mini fridge and extra wardrobe space was convenient to have. There was a good size desk set in the room and a very comfy looking chair and foot rest inside which I didn't get to utilize but was handy for my luggage setup. My two night stay was overall quiet, the first night almost eerily quiet lol. Then the second night/day was pretty loud at select points. I think some kids were running around the halls and then the housekeeping cart for some reason was extremely loud and seemed to shake the floor at different times. Other than those things there were no disturbances. Much better than any motel or extended stay noises, I know that lol. Overall, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Kalamazoo for a quick trip. Check in and out was extremely easy and it was a comfortable stay. I would recommend it to be close to the airport and everything Kalamazoo and Portage has to offer. I'll be back!
