We stayed here in mid June 2025. Hotel is located in a quiet little town off of I-70, behind a McDonald's with a gas station across the street. It was a normal hotel, with a strange smell in the hallways. breakfast was fine, staff was friendly when we checked in at 10 pm. The beds were really comfortable. Overall, a good hotel in the middle of nowhere.

My second stay in a row at a Holiday Inn Express and this was a pleasant one night as I'm driving north. The hotel used to be a "Sleep Inn" as that was what appeared on my credit card statement for the swipe to cover incidentals. The room was quite clean, as it should be this far into the pandemic. Plenty of towels, work space, and the usual complimentary shampoo and such. Wifi worked quite well. Bed was firm and comfortable. I had a good night's sleep and hit the road early in the morning. There is not much nearby for restaurants but the pizza across the street was decent. [Review 15126 overall, 628 of 2021, number 603 in Maryland.]

The hotel and staff were great! Staff placed us first floor with no one on one side of our room, across from the pool, close to the lobby... it was great! I've had a hotel before (not this one) place my family with young children on an upper floor and then come complain to me that my kids are making noise and moving around the room as well as blame me that I didn't request a first floor room away from others. I was thrilled that this hotel knew where to place families with young kids and were very friendly with us and the kids. Made the possible nightmare of staying at a hotel on a roadtrip into a blessing. They even offered a mini crib for my youngest. The "worst" part was walking the length of the hall for some ice. The staff was even understanding in the morning when my rambunctious 4yr old accidentally bumped our table at breakfast causing a glass bottle of hot sauce to shatter on the floor. The room was nice, tv had a good kids channel, plenty of room for us for one night. Thank you so much for making this night a pleasant stay!

Stayed here overnight while driving towards New York. Jay or Joe (I apologize for forgetting your name) was great!!! Friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and organized. Beds were comfortable and the tv worked properly, well, after I had to call Jay/Joe to fix it. He did it super fast. Breakfast was good, Usual Holiday Inn Express standards. Better than average overnight stay.

I am a Holiday Inn Rewards member and have stayed at multiple locations. I'm heading home to New England from a NC vacation. I made a random call stopping here. This is one of better stays I have had. The facility is super clean. It is clear the staff are full force on Covid prevention. The room had zero dust indicating to me that surfaces have been well wiped down. In addition, the location is really nice. Clear Springs is a very cool small town. The hotel backs up to a great view of fields and hills in the distance. I don't review a lot. This place is good.

Rude service

What was supposed to be a relaxing night with my husband and son turned into us getting kicked out all because the lady at the front desk, Julie Clevenger. Kept insisting I was a woman named Nikole. She phoned our room just as we were getting settled for the night and kept asking to speak to Nikole. We kept telling her no my name is Helen I don't know who Nikole is and she flat out said she doesn't believe us and demanded to see ID. I had unfortunately misplaced my drivers license but had a photo copy of it but she refused to look at it. There was no reasoning with her and she had some story that she concocted in her head about me being Nikole and my husband being some kind of boss? She eventually called the police on us and they said that they believe us but unfortunately we had to leave because there was nothing they could do. So basically we all got thrown out of our room at 10 at night along with our 2 year old son just because Julie believed came up with this idea that I'm someone else. I've never experienced something so crazy in my life. Not sure how someone with her mentality was trusted to be in charge of the hotel. Let me also say my husband has been staying there since September and we've never had any issue with any of the other staff members, they were all very nice. I hope Holiday Inn is aware of the absolute unprofessional attitude of Julie Clevenger and they take appropriate action.

I'm travel healthcare and have stayed at several different hotels. This hotel is my favorite. I've checked in here three times and never have been disappointed. My rooms are always clean, staff is very friendly. I forgot my sweatshirt in the closet my last stay here. They had my sweatshirt when I returned this time all wrapped up with the room number I stayed at. Not to mention a great view. Will gladly return over and over when I'm working in the area.

No window shades to block out the light. This is unedited from my phone in a completely black room.

The family and I stayed here for one night on a ski trip to nearby Whitetail ski area. The website advertised a modern, recently renovated hotel complete with an indoor heated pool and hot tub. The photos looked great, and for $70, I wasn't going to complain... until we arrived. First, the hot tub was broken, and had been reportedly broken for "at least a month, or more." The pool was ice cold, enough to be unswimmmable. There were no towel racks in our bathroom- odd. Also, there were several tacky, dirty, and sloppy repairs done to the tile and drywall that looked like my children had done them (see pictures). Worst yet, there were no drapes to cover the windows, so the combined blue light from the Holiday Inn Express sign, plus the street and town lights poured in to the room all night. The windows themselves were horribly covered in limescale both inside and out, enough that our view was completely obscured (see photos). While the lobby area sported new modern furniture and a sleek atmosphere, I have to say that the overall impression of this place points to very poor management. As a frequent business traveler who has stayed at HIExpresses all over the world, I have to regrettably say that this was the worst I have ever experienced. We will not be back.

The food was delicious! I started with the French onion soup to start, it was great and topped with not only the cheese it had fried onions on top which gave it a nice crunch. I followed that up with Sauerbraten with a deep flavorful sauce, red cabbage and potato dumplings, Yummmmmm! After all that I gave in and ordered the apple strudel ala mode, very tasty, and a nice crust! Overall the whole experience was great! Worth the hour and a half ride. The Bavarian Inn is a must try, once you do you'll want to keep coming back. Enjoy!!

But I consider myself a very light sleeper, so the average person will probably not have issues with this. The place is very clean and comfortable. I stayed in the Rumsey Suite. The bathrooms are modern and have fantastic jetted tubs. The bed was very comfortable. My room had a white noise machine, ceiling fan, a large closet, free wi-fi, and even electric candles for a romantic touch. They offer a continental breakfast with a lot of options and a Keurig machine for coffee. There is a nice patio out back overlooking the brook. Parking is easy, free and right outside. The innkeeper was very nice and friendly - happy to chat and answer questions about the area - but did not impose on the guests. The decor is cleaner and simpler than most B&Bs, which was a huge draw for me! I don't like rooms full of creepy dolls and tons of old lace. I would recommend this location. The back room with the two twin beds probably has the best view.

I was living in California and every time I'd get back to the east coast, she'd suggest going here. Unfortunately, we never got to experience a visit here together after she suddenly passed from an aggressive cancer. It became my goal to come here and visit with her on my mind. Years later, I moved back to the east coast and booked a random weekend just for fun. I'm married now with kids so we made the drive here to experience all that the Omni had to offer. I've stayed at other Omni resorts and I wavered on what this place would land on ratings wise. Overall, it's a beautiful hotel with a lot of history that I loved learning about. My kids absolutely loved the indoor pool. It is as gorgeous as the photos look. It's a nice spot, especially when it's a chilly Pennsylvania day like when we visited. With that said, there isn't a ton to do here with kids. It was the perfect amount of time for us, but met other families who were struggling to keep their own kids occupied. There are some really nice trails around the property, which are perfect. And you can also check out some free toys and games from one of the shops inside. That said, if you don't have great weather, options can be limited. We didn't get a chance to visit the spa, but the space looks amazing from what I saw online. The rooms were spacious and well set up for a family. We ate at a few of the restaurants on site. Service was mostly on point though the tavern was really off. Our server was perfectly friendly but pretty much messed up the entire order. I would go back but not sure I'd be eager to rush back anytime soon. We did enjoy the experience but I think a few bumps could be worked out such as helping with our luggage upon arrival. We were able to valet but couldn't find anyone to help us with the bags and the rolling carts don't easily go over the front door to get inside. Between me and my partner, we were able to make it work. But it's those small details that make a property really stand out.

If you like clean bathrooms, functioning HVAC, and nice quiet bedrooms, do not stay at this hotel…read more And when you report issues to management, they have only excuses or don't bother replying. We stayed here for two nights in December. At first glance everything seemed very nice in Room 205 but then, in looking at the bathroom, I realized there was lots of dust and hair behind the bathroom door (photo). I was going to ignore it, but then we couldn't get the HVAC to work, so I went down to the front desk. The desk manager showed us a second room (same problems), a third room (same problems with the addition of brown spots on the ceiling). We were given a fourth room - a suite - on the third floor. This room was not updated like the first few rooms but at least the HVAC was working, and at first glance everything seemed clean. At this point it was 10pm so we got ready for bed. I looked into the shower only to find a big gob of black hair in the drain (photo). I decided to leave it for the morning. We shuffled into bed (photo) and listened to the windows rattling in the windy night along with all the traffic of Main Street (surprisingly a lot). In the morning, I showed the front desk a photo of the shower situation and asked for housekeeping to take care of it. He said they don't have housekeeping on weekends. What?! I've never stayed at a major hotel chain without daily housekeeping. Also an AI search of the hotel on Facebook mentions "daily housekeeping." Each room contained a letter (photo) from Jefferey Shepherd, VP of Operations, urging patrons to text or call with any issues. I texted him for the first time during our stay (with no reply). We avoided the shower stall horror show and showered at a nearby relatives' place - super inconvenient. We also noticed a dirty chair in the living room - like someone peed on it (photo). That night we tried watching TV but couldn't get any of the three remotes to work (photo). At least we got a decent night's sleep the second night. Sunday morning we went to the front desk to check out, rang twice for the clerk (photo) but he never showed up, so I left the room keys on his chair and left. Skip the cold breakfast, which is all they offer, and walk up the block to One North (photo) for a hot meal and delicious gourmet coffee. I called Jeff Shepherd after returning home. We had a cordial conversation and he offered to refund our stay (over $300) which I gratefully and thankfully accepted. One week later, still no refund so I texted him, which he read and again didn't bother replying. Another week passed, I called him again and left a voicemail asking why he changed his mind about the refund. More time passed and I emailed the company that manages the James Buchanan - Capital Hotels. STILL no response, so I'm forced to include a mention of the awful customer service in addition to the dirty hotel. I don't mind old, historic places, but they shouldn't be this dirty, and the HVAC should be in good working condition. Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the other hotels down the street. I know we will.

People seem to either love the hotel or hate it and it seems to depend on what type of room they choose. We were in town for a wedding and stayed 2 nights here. We chose a basic room with a queen bed. Upon arrival, the room looked cute and cozy. The bed had a decorative iron frame and was situated in front of a window that overlooked the street. That's where the good stuff ends. Our tv didn't work, the bathroom door didn't close, and the noise level was unbelievable. We tried to turn on the in-room minisplit to add some ambient sound, but that didn't help. The room was situated above Main Street and that street is busy all night long. The windows have very little sound insulation, so that made for a rough night's sleep. The bathroom was nice and they had great quality toiletries: Beekman 1802 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We liked that the shower had both a waterfall head and a handheld one. I will say that when we visited the Pub & Restaurant on the main level, we were very impressed. The bartender that was working Friday night supplied us with some of the best cocktails we have had in a long time. She made whiskey sours with just whiskey, lemon juice and egg whites. Those were a thousand times better than ones made with that nasty premade sour mix. She also whipped up a lavender drink with gin that was heavenly. I was sad when the pub closed at 9pm. That was the best part of the hotel.

I came across the same clip in a rail safety ad, which made me look up directions to Harpers Ferry from DC. The historic park/town is served by the very MARC trains that pass outside my DC window each afternoon. You can describe Harpers Ferry as *deceptively* close because it's a 90 minute train ride, with planes flying into Dulles close enough to make out the airline. Looking for hotels there, Stonehouse Bed & Breakfast was the first that came up, with great reviews. Chris was very helpful and responsive via text and email. I booked the Top Room, which was $170 for a night including taxes. The quaint B&B has three accessible floors, as the family naturally lives onsite. The first floor is the main entrance with the common/dining areas, and the patio overlooking Maryland Heights and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers. The second floor has more rooms, one with a full balcony. And the third floor is the Top Room, with windows overlooking each side of the vintage building. If you Google pictures of Harpers Ferry, Stonehouse is in nearly all of the shots, since the balconies are front and center of the skyline. The town itself is like a real life snow globe. But the B&B, the litany of museums, eateries and shoppes around it, as well as the train station directly across the street make it an overall ideal place to stay, be it for hiking, or for something else: A love of trains is what brought me to Stonehouse, so take note that rail traffic can be heavy in certain times of the day. But the light rumbles also helped put me to sleep in the already soft, cozy bed. A container of water was provided, and while glasses should have been cleaned of dust first, it was still a really nice touch. The room also had playing cards, ear plugs, plenty books and a whole lounge chair. Checkin was a simple set of instructions at the door with my name on it, with checkout simply being your absence at the appropriate time. In my case, I only booked an overnight stay, getting in at 8pm and leaving around 6:30am, with checkout/checkin being the traditional 11am/4pm. While I didn't stay for complementary breakfast, I did catch a stellar sunrise between the mountains, as well as nature footage from the neighboring park. All of that to say, I definitely look to return to Stonehouse B&B later this year.
