It is more like coming to a second home than a hotel. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfy. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. We are a very large group. Some of us have disabilities that require special assistance, adaptive rooms, service animals, and caretakers. Some of us travel with aides or professional assistants/managers. This hotel handles it all with professionalism and calm. We use banquet spaces, meeting rooms, suites, hospitality spaces, and the restaurant. We take up most of the parking and if the pool or sauna are available, we are in my heaven! A few of us even use the workout room or hang out at the bar! This hotel keeps us coming back because they treat us well; they feed us well; they serve us amazing hospitality; and the fees are a great value! If you're in Marshfield, don't overlook this inconspicuous gem of a hotel! It's a part of the Best Western Group. These people put the "best" in hotel service industry! Our State Lions are moving their Counsel of Governors meeting here every couple of months. Our room was very nice with soft toilet paper and tissues and thick towels. The bed was comfortable including the pillows and comforter. Our room was a king suite with a couch and good size tv. One of our parties had a suite big enough to be considered a condo. We all ( about 30) had a pasta buffet for dinner on the Friday night we were there. It was $20 each and included a fettuccine, cheese ravioli with a Mariana sauce and a Alfredo sauce, strips of chicken and shrimp. Salad and bread sticks. I opted out on the bread sticks but sadly our while table of 8 did not get any shrimp as it was all gone. The salad was almost all gone and some at our table did not get salad. About half the table did not get bread sticks. I didn't want any but others did. There was plenty of chicken strips. The food was tasty. They have a continental breakfast and because they have the restaurant right there the food is a step above the usual hotel, I think. My husband brought back to the room my breakfast scrambled eggs and oatmeal and a banana. The eggs were fluffy and tasty. Because I did not go,out to the breakfast buffet I did not see what all was offered. My husband said they had ham for the meat but it looked like fake ham. I can only guess what that meant but will check it out my next few visits. Our meeting room was spacious and comfortable. We had a buffet lunch after our meeting that had salads and dinner rolls at our table along with a variety of desserts to choose from-8 to a table. At the buffet line they had servers. Probably had something to do with the running out of shrimp at dinner, we were served beef tips and chicken fillets, roasted potato wedges and vegetables. Once again we were happy with the food. They have self check in and out but I did not get my bill in my email so will have to call them as the receipt is needed to get reimbursed.

Two of us had the fish and shrimp, one had the ribs and one had the shrimp alfredo. Everything was wonderful. There was a little confusion on the menu though, they didn't seem to use the one posted on their website, but they were so accommodating that it didn't seem to matter. The food was hot and the portions were just right and everything was well seasoned. Included with our meals was a salad bar and dessert. Also, the old fashioneds were great. The décor was quaint and reminiscent of the supper clubs of old and everyone was truly friendly and attentive. The silverware was nice, the napkins large and there were decent sized water glasses. The only minor drawback was the condiments. The sour cream came in a drive-thru type packet, the butter in tiny little tubs for our baked potatoes and buns, and a small dab of cocktail sauce in a plastic cup. Overall though, we had a great time and we will definitely go back when we are in the area.

I had been to this grand house a couple of years ago. At that time they had a great exhibit on the effect of the Civil War on the area. I met an older gentleman named George. We talked smart for over two hours. He was great at answering questions about the county. On this visit I hoped to talk with him again; but, alas, he was not there on this visit. So I checked out their new exhibit on rural electrification of Marathon County. I found it quite informative and interesting. You can "interact" with people who used to live in the county by telephone; and listen to their stories. This is a nice place to spend a couple of hours. You can learn a lot about the area. There were a couple of floods that decimated the town. The one in 1913 was particularly devastating. As I am prone to staying at the Everest Inn, I'll probably visit this museum again the next time I'm in Wausau. Hope to catch George next time, I could use another history lesson of Marathon County. If you are a history buff (who isn't?) it would behoove you to check this fine little museum out. There is no entry fee; but leave a donation of a couple of bucks. It's the right thing to do.

At first, I found salad bar items on the dessert table instead on the salad bar like the cocktail sauce for the salad bar shrimp. All items for the salad bar should be on the salad bar table. Dessert table should only have all dessert items. The food was covered and not shown, have to lift lids to see what is underneath. The food was very hot and looks like it was made fresh. The biscuits tasted fresh and were warm that were served at the table. As I looked around, I took the place as being classy so I figured they have finger bowls for washing oilly fingers. I requested a finger bowl due to handling oil foods like the chicken and they didn't have any and they gave me wet wipes. There was a person who was dressed as an employee who was wandering around the tables but did not pick up a plate nor helped any of the staff. I didn't know what her purpose was. Cleansiness: The dining room is clean, but I had to request the mens room to be cleaned. The bar area was also clean and I enjoyed the mirror that makes the bar area look bigger in size. Overall, I give 4 stars and excellent service, the food tasted excellent, and I will recommend others to go here.
