My International Organization holds it's quarterly meeting here. We arrive on a Friday and leave on Saturday or Sunday. We are treated well every time we come. It is more like coming to a second home than a hotel. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfy. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. We are a very large group. Some of us have disabilities that require special assistance, adaptive rooms, service animals, and caretakers. Some of us travel with aides or professional assistants/managers. This hotel handles it all with professionalism and calm. We use banquet spaces, meeting rooms, suites, hospitality spaces, and the restaurant. We take up most of the parking and if the pool or sauna are available, we are in my heaven! A few of us even use the workout room or hang out at the bar! This hotel keeps us coming back because they treat us well; they feed us well; they serve us amazing hospitality; and the fees are a great value! If you're in Marshfield, don't overlook this inconspicuous gem of a hotel! It's a part of the Best Western Group. These people put the "best" in hotel service industry! Hotel marshfield is super nice with spectacular restaurant connected.we have stayed many times

I could almost give this a 5 but I plan on spending a few more stays here in the coming year so will up to 5 if I deem appropriate. Our State Lions are moving their Counsel of Governors meeting here every couple of months. Our room was very nice with soft toilet paper and tissues and thick towels. The bed was comfortable including the pillows and comforter. Our room was a king suite with a couch and good size tv. One of our parties had a suite big enough to be considered a condo. We all ( about 30) had a pasta buffet for dinner on the Friday night we were there. It was $20 each and included a fettuccine, cheese ravioli with a Mariana sauce and a Alfredo sauce, strips of chicken and shrimp. Salad and bread sticks. I opted out on the bread sticks but sadly our while table of 8 did not get any shrimp as it was all gone. The salad was almost all gone and some at our table did not get salad. About half the table did not get bread sticks. I didn't want any but others did. There was plenty of chicken strips. The food was tasty. They have a continental breakfast and because they have the restaurant right there the food is a step above the usual hotel, I think. My husband brought back to the room my breakfast scrambled eggs and oatmeal and a banana. The eggs were fluffy and tasty. Because I did not go,out to the breakfast buffet I did not see what all was offered. My husband said they had ham for the meat but it looked like fake ham. I can only guess what that meant but will check it out my next few visits. Our meeting room was spacious and comfortable. We had a buffet lunch after our meeting that had salads and dinner rolls at our table along with a variety of desserts to choose from-8 to a table. At the buffet line they had servers. Probably had something to do with the running out of shrimp at dinner, we were served beef tips and chicken fillets, roasted potato wedges and vegetables. Once again we were happy with the food. They have self check in and out but I did not get my bill in my email so will have to call them as the receipt is needed to get reimbursed. read more

This is wonderful option in a town without too many hotels to chose from. Hotel Marshfield has a lot of really nice touches that makes it stand out, such as glassware in them rooms instead of plastic or styrofoam. I also really enjoyed the decent free breakfast (also with real plates, cups and silverware) and the pool, though outdoor, is pretty nice. It has 2 nice hot tubs and a sauna (that are open year round). Beds are comfortable and everything seemed to be clean. Updated TV, coffee maker and fridge. Just a couple of drawbacks that may or may not be a big deal to you: -smaller bathroom -spotty WiFi -can be loud on pool side (only until 10pm) -no indoor pool -no movie channels (but lots of other options) read more

This is a super nice hotel in Marshfield! The staff was very friendly and they took care of an issue that I had with my room. I definitely appreciated the hot breakfast buffet. The room was spacious for my needs with a nice bathroom. The restaurant on site was excellent as well. It is close enough to downtown Marshfield while not being too far away. read more

The strangest thing. One of the best hotels in one of the larger small towns in Wisconsin. The firmest bed I ever slept in, including my own. A beautiful room. The only glitch is as you walk in your third key goes in a slot by the door and stays in as long as you want heat. We had to get the maintenance guy after dinner to show us. Unfortunately there is no heat in the bathroom. A good size fridge for our drinks and leftovers. The hotel lobby and interior is beautifully decorated. There are at least 3 Christmas trees with different colored decorations. The party room is close to the back door and so is the hallway for the rooms. At dinner the party room was in use and everyone seemed to be having a good time. On a Saturday we were told that we wouldn't need a reservation for Libby's and we loved sitting off the main dining area. The food and drinks were great. Not sure if this is a boutique hotel, but it sure seems like one. I'd be tempted to swing by again on our way back from Illinois. The nearest large city is Wausau, but don't bypass this hotel if you don't have to. So happy we didn't have to deal with a chain. read more

Katelyn S. was our waitress at Libby's and she did an awesome job on a busy Wednesday evening. Food was hot and delectable. Highly recommend the cheese curds and Spotted Cow :-) She was extremely friendly and accommodating of our exponentially growing group of coworkers who joined for dinner and drinks (upwards of 8-12), while listening to music on the outside patio. We were very pleased with her flexibility, friendliness, and willingness to accommodate new people each time someone different arrived. She provided us with a request of a deck of playing cards and we had an enjoyable evening chatting and play rounds of card games after the music concluded. Room was clean and did the job for a couple night stay for work related meetings. Room service from Libby's also great with hot and delectable food. The morning breakfast was also very good with friendly staff who cleaned tables regularly and provided a welcoming area to dine. The Front desk staff was also very friendly and provided good service. There was a small glitch in the telephone with random calls in late evening/early hours, but that was resolved quickly. Would recommend both hotel and Libby's restaurant. read more

The rooms are new and fresh. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant seems nice. But it closed at 9:00pm on a Friday night! No food here for hungry late arrivals. Marshfield restaurants all seem to close at 9pm except the Hardee's drive thru is open 24hrs. The rooms have a dirty secret: THE bathroom SINK HAS NO COUNTER SPACE. Just a tiny 6"x6" triangular corner for whatever toiletries you or (heaven help you) your wife has. Contact lens insertion and removal? Barely room for that stuff. Makeup, etc.? Good luck with that. Seriously, who designs a bathroom layout with zero countertops? Much less a bathroom countertop for travelers. The sink could be remediated with a rectangular board/plate placed over part of it up against the wall. $5 would do it. Several women staying here suggested the sink might be more useful for bathing a baby. I agree. read more

We were unexpectedly in Marshfield WI on a Saturday night and decided to stay over. I started a web search for a hotel and saw this hotel has AN OUTDOOR SAUNA AND HOT TUB OPEN YEAR 'ROUND. In central Wisconsin. I had to see this. It was beautiful. The whole property was very welcoming and well done and there is a bar & restaurant on site. But as my husband pointed out, you have to get from the hotel to the hot tub in a bathing suit. I had very high hopes there would be a heated patio floor/walkway but there was not. Since it was -18° that night, we went to a different hotel with an indoor pool and hot tub but we WILL be back to try Hotel Marshfield sometime in the late fall. We were here at Christmas and we're spending more time here again. Everything is top notch. The staff is as professional as any resort I've stayed at around the world. This place actually deserves the label Premier. Unlike some Best Western places we've stayed. All around one of the best all-around experiences we've had anywhere near this price level. Plus good shower water pressure. And pretty fast, dependable WiFi. A really nice touch is the Keurig coffee maker in the room. These things are perfect for a hotel, but the only places we've seen them were a few inns in Canada. The desk clerk was a bit unfriendly, but that's the worst I can say about it. read more

Overall- a good hotel. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. The fitness room had updated machines. The only issue I had was the lay out of the hotel. You had to walk through the restaurant area to get to the elevator/stairs, or walk all the way around the hotel to get there. I would walk from the fitness room at 7 AM, sweaty from a workout, and have to walk past a bunch of people trying to eat a nice breakfast. Other than that, I had a great stay! read more

Where did this place come from? Having grown up in Wisconsin, my husband and I have stayed in all types and classes of hotels, motels, B&Bs, cabins, cottages, and campers. When we were invited to a wedding in Dorchester (look on a map) we began the search for a place to stay overnight. We're now approaching senior citizen status, so we're less interested in "stuff to do" and more interested in accommodations that are COMFORTABLE. Skip the pools, arcades, noisy restaurants, water parks, etc., and give me a really good night's sleep. Hotel Marshfield was a gem waiting to be discovered! The beds, the linens, the shower, the staff ... all perfect and similar to our favorite boutique hotel in Milwaukee. Nicely done, folks! A year later, the groom's brother got married and we returned to Hotel Marshfield. Our second stay was as nice as the first. When we're back in Central Wisconsin we'll return to our favorite Hotel Marshfield. read more

Wow!!! Just got home from this hotel and couldn't wait to spread the word!! This boutique hotel is fairly new (over 2 years old); has an interesting history and is a great example about how to turn an old foreclosed motel/hotel into a modern, upscale hotel with beautiful interior design (from the cozy lobby, restaurant, to hallways and rooms) with an urban city feel, but in the middle of Marshfield (nice town, by the way!!). As a New York City transplant to WI, theirs is the kind of hotel interiors you'd expect to see in downtown Milwaukee or Chicago hotels, but not in a small sleepy town. My room had a king size bed; super comfy, beautiful decor; nice large bathroom, very clean. It's a nice place to spend a few nights if you are driving through or to get away for the weekend (which was my case). Lots of cool amenities you will find if you check out their website, but the best one I loved and experienced was the free breakfast buffet with some awesome food items (eggs and sausage, oatmeal, potatoes and french toast strips.... all fresh and hot!) to choose from. Wow. Even the Chef came out on both morning stays to check on us and greet us!! Cool bar and restaurant; friendly and chatty staff and great front desk people. Free parking; outdoor hot tubs, steam room and fire pit. I am impressed. A lot of mullah was spent on this hotel and I am hoping that others find out about it and it has many more years of success!! This town feels like it's in the middle of no where, which makes this hotel feel even stranger than it should. I get the impression that this used to be a chain hotel that was gutted and redefined as a boutique. The public spaces are quite lush with a gorgeous courtyard with pool, plenty of seating and a sauna. The restaurant is solid and pretty inexpensive considering the face the hotel puts on. $21 ribeye with salad, cooked veg and potatoes. The food was prepared very nicely. The room leaves a little on the table, as they are a touch narrow and the bathroom, though nicely appointed, has a tiny tub. These details harken back to a lesser point in the hotel's existence. I suppose you need to pick your battles, though, when you offer rooms as low as $90. You may never recoup the expense of fully remodeling 70ish bathrooms at that price point. All in all, this place is bananas for the price and this quality shouldn't exist in Marshfield Wisconsin. If you come to this town and stay elsewhere, you are wrong. A wonderful experience. When we drove up I thought hmmm. When we walked in the door however, wow. A very nice, upscale, elegant place. We found the decor, clean & modern with some very cleverly designed spaces for social gathering and conversations. The rooms, restaurant and meeting areas exceptionally nice. What we've more accustomed to in the major metros when we travel. Our room was modern, spotless and elegant, spa-like. The bed, pillows, linen... ver nice. Best night sleep in a long time. Our meal last night was very good and the service attentive. This morning, the complementary breakfast, exceptional. Again, more like what we've experience in the finer, more exclusive major metro hotels. The chef came out and said hello. Nice guy. The people at check-in, very nice. We do a fair amount of travel for business. Hotel Marshfield is among the nicest we've experienced. read more

We are staying at the Hotel Marshfield and love it. Our room is spacious and very clean. The breakfast is included and varies each day. Their dinner menu is great. Try the deep fried avocado slices as an appetizer. We love to sit in the enclosed courtyard which surrounds the pool and has a fire pit. Yes, there is a pool in the courtyard. Very nice hotel! Enjoyed our stay here! So nice to stay at a place that was so clean! It was a welcomed relief. Nice restaurant and the free breakfast was a step up from most "free" breakfasts that are typically offered. The best part for us was that is was a pet friendly hotel! I really hate to update my review to be worse than better but in this case I have to. Stopped in on a Friday night with my boyfriend. It was busy but wasn't packed. Was given a booth along the side of the restaurant but not quite in it. It took over 10 minutes to get a server. As we were waiting the bartender came out with two drinks and it took her like 5 minutes to figure out who they belonged too. Once we finally got a waiter (who was really good if I remembered his name I would thank him), we ordered drinks, an app, and our meal. It took another 10 min to get the drinks (glass of wine and a beer nothing fancy), the appetizer deep fried avocado came out next. It was just alright. The breading wasn't very good. Our waiter did suggest a spicy sauce to pair it with because people have said it was bland. That did help... After about 30 minutes we finally got our food, I had the haddock and my BF the perch. Neither one were good at all. The perch was this pinkish color under the breading and was huge. Neither one of us believe it was actually perch, if so it was a record sized perch it was so big! The haddock was tiny and soggy. The breading was just not good and I picked most of it off. The only good thing about the meal was the potatoes. When we were done eating it did take about 15 more minutes to get our waiter back- he was running around like crazy. We finally paid our bill and left. I sooo want to give this place a good review because it's a really great atmosphere. I think if I were to come back it would only be for drinks at the bar. I wouldn't order any food. read more

We totally enjoyed our short stay at Hotel Marshfield! The Studio Suite was very spacious yet cozy. The shower was inviting and had a cool shower head. The towels were thick, and the bed was comfortable. Our room overlooked the outdoor pool courtyard and we really wished we would have had time to spend out there. Finally they are pet friendly! Room was not ready till 4:30pm. Understood that they must have been busy so went to the bar to have a drink with an appetizer and waited 20 minutes before asking a waitress to be served. For a town the size of Marshfield (about 20,000 pop.), in the rather inclimate, agrarian center of Wisconsin, this place is a gem. Yes, the property has had former lives as franchised hotel operations, but the current owner (Mr. Roehl of Roehl Transport fame) has hit on a winning formula-tastefully appointed, service oriented, with all of the amenities you'd expect from some of the mid to higher end chains (and some things beyond your expectations). I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was comfortable, stylish, clean and fully functional, with a nice bed and an appropriately stocked fridge (beer, wine, and soft drinks). And the fitness center is better than most, with relatively new, high end TRUE equipment-two ellipticals, two tread mills, a recumbent bike and a decent selection of free weights. There is also a large flat screen for your viewing pleasure. The complimentary breakfast was good, but I understand that dinner in the restaurant needs some work (I personally didn't try it). There is literally not a single downside to staying here. Loved this place. My first choice when traveling to Marshfield for work. Don't let the outside fool (or scare ;) you, they've done a great job updating inside. I've stayed at multiple hotels in Marshfield and I will always choose Hotel Marshfield if they have rooms available. The bar/restaurant atmosphere is nicer than other area bars with a relatively chic feeling to it. Decent workout room for a hotel. Love the outdoor sauna and hot tub as well. read more

Breakfast bar is typical, but the lady who takes care of it is sweet and cares about her guests. Restaurant can get busy at night, which is a compliment, IMO. I stayed at Hotel Marshfield for business, I was originally planning on staying there for the duration of my thirteen week business trip. However due to the lack of customer service and overall hospitality my stay was cut to five days. The first thing that went wrong was on check in I was supposed to be booked in a studio suite, but upon check in I was told that the suite was not available for my entire stay and therefore I was placed in a double queen room. I was also told that there would be a significant price change for the suite and that they would need to speak to someone authorized from my company to negotiate the price and make the changes. I took the managers information and forwarded her information on to my company. The next day after work I ask the "gentleman" at the from desk if he had heard anything in regards to my room switch and he rudely states no while not even making eye contact. I go to my room to find that house keeping neglected to remove any trash from my room and left the ice bucket full with the bag of water. The next morning as I leave I ask the front desk to make sure housekeeping empties my trash. As I return that evening I stop at the front desk I ask for an update regarding my room and still receive no information but "we're working on it". The next day I am informed by my company that the change will not occur for this leg of my trip which was a total of twenty-three days, so that evening I ask the man at the front desk if he could send someone to my room to remove the items from the refrigerator so that I may store my own items for the remainder of the trip, I also ask if I could get more bags for the ice bucket as it had not been changed or emptied in three days. I returned to the room to find the items removed, which I appreciated however the ice bucket was still full of water and the bags just place on top. The final straw occurred the following morning as I was leaving for work, I over hear the two women at the front desk talking loudly how "she was complaining about her trash not being taken out and her room not being cleaned" and as soon as I made eye contact with the woman talking she looked like she saw a ghost. I left that work feeling very concerned about the way I was being treated at this establishment and by the fact that not only are the staff rude, but talking negative about paying customers. That evening when I returned I asked to speak to the manager, to inform her of what had occurred, and that I felt very uncomfortable at this establishment and the behavior of her staff was unprofessional. I was told that she would investigate the situation and talk to her staff, and then miraculously I could be moved to a suite for the last week of my stay. This was the worst hotel stay of my life, the decor and hotel looks nice on the exterior. But the rude staff and lazy housekeeping cancel out every good thing this place has going for them. The one and only good thing about this hotel is the restaurant and its staff, they were all friendly and helpful. The front desk could learn a lot from them on how to be hospitable to all customers not just ones with a particular skin color. I have to say, I really wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it is...I was pleasantly surprised when my husband and I came in for Valentine's Day weekend today. The room was clean and has a very new, modern feel to it. Kerug's in the guest rooms? Nice touch! Negatives: We have a few things that weren't totally pleasant since we arrived, but nothing worth complaining over, that's for sure! The receptionist seemed like he would have rather been anywhere else on a Friday night (I'm sure just because of the holiday weekend looming), but he was still courteous with us and the check in process was informative and painless. We got a regular room (not a suite), which I didn't realize did not come with a microwave (so bringing your own popcorn doesn't really do you any good). After reading through the hotel book, I discovered that only the suites have microwaves - my mistake there. My husband's only negative comment was that the bath towels are scratchy, but to be honest, they felt like any other hotel towels I've ever used. We also ordered room service because we didn't feel like going out, and it was a little bit awkward because room service actually came in to the room instead of just giving to my husband out in the hall - felt a little invaded but no harm done. Positives: I definitely have to put in a good word about the food. We've tried the pizza and cheese curds and they were quite delicious! Tomorrow night we're dining in the restaurant and are really looking forward to it, especially since we've heard nothing but good things about the prime rib. Overall, the hotel has a nice quiet calm atmosphere, and we could definitely tell that they've put in a lot of time, effort, and money into re-vamping it. We would also recommend opting for the romance package if it's just you and your loved-one; definitely worth the extra money to get 5-star treatment when you walk in your room! read more

Nice clean rooms. Noise was not an issue, even being so close to the highway and airport. Food from the attached restaurant was good. Unfortunately the breakfast selections were very disappointing. Scrambled eggs, which were not real eggs, potatoes, and sausage gravy with no biscuits. Bacon, sausage, or waffles like most standard hotels would be an improvement. My room was at the back of the hotel. I inquired about a luggage rack and was informed I needed to return it to the front of the hotel, even though there were 3 others available. read more

First the good. Very clean and modern hotel, and best part of all they are pet friendly! Staff is friendly and enjoy meeting your pooch. This place has an amazing patio/pool and spa area with two hot tubs and two saunas in addition to the pool. Now the bad. I had called ahead today to see if I could check in a half hour early with my dog and they said it would be no problem. I arrived only 15 minutes before the regular 3 o'clock check in and was greeted with a smile and checked in. Then they couldn't give me my keys because the room was not yet ready. I waited patiently but as time went on I began to wonder what was taking so long. In the mean time it was now 3pm. The normal check in time they advertise online and I'm still waiting with my pup. Another group was now in the same predicament. They had arrived early that day and were told they should come back at 3 to check in. Now it was 3:10 and we are all waiting in the lobby for dirty rooms. Finally around 3:20 we were all given keys and off we went...Nothing was offered to us as an apology for the extended wait. I come from a hospitality and hotel background and know that this happens all too much in the business but very unprofessional not to offer some sort of compensation or anything for the wait.
