Abby's Inn was just what we were looking for. It's off the main highway surrounded by cornfields. Gwen at the front desk was very accommodating after we arrived late to check in after leaving the other local hotel due to a refrigerator tractor trailer truck being parked outside our room window and left to run all night( because that's what tractor refrigerator trucks do to stay cold). Needles to say our next 5 days were very peaceful and relaxing. We so enjoyed our stay and plan to return again when we come back to Wisconsin to visit family. The rooms was nice, very basic, and clean. I appreciate that the building was well secured. As the other hotels outer doors were not.

After staying--or attempting to stay--here, I honestly have to wonder if the pictures and reviews were done by bots, because they did not reflect what I encountered at all. I arrived before my friend, and the moment I walked into the lobby, it was clear the entire place was in desperate need of a deep cleaning. The stairs and hallways were dark, dingy, and dirty. When I got to room #210, the first thing I noticed was that the doorknob wasn't even fully attached to the door. Once inside, I was immediately hit with the smell of stale smoke. The floors were sticky enough that my shoes stayed on the entire time. The air-conditioning unit was absolutely disgusting, and honestly, the room as a whole was filthy. I called the front desk using the sticky phone in the room to let them know about the condition of the door. When the employee came upstairs and looked at it, her response was, "It locks, that's all that matters." I also asked if the room had actually been cleaned before I arrived, and she told me yes. If that room had been cleaned, I would hate to see what they consider dirty. Outside, there were a couple of shirtless men just hanging around the parking lot, which added to how uncomfortable I already felt. Between the condition of the property, the questionable door lock, and the surroundings, I did not feel safe staying there. I also knew my friend would be just as disgusted by the lack of cleanliness. At that point, I was genuinely concerned about what might start crawling around once it got dark. Thankfully, I was able to find another hotel nearby and booked a room there instead. When I went to check out, rather than acknowledging the condition of the room or my concerns, the employee actually argued with me about whether the room was clean. I had been in the room myself--I knew what I had just seen, smelled, and stepped on. We did not stay here. I understand that not every hotel is going to be luxurious, and I wasn't expecting luxury. I was expecting a room that was clean, secure, and somewhere I felt comfortable sleeping. This place did not meet even those basic expectations.

We brought our older kids plus our little kids and dogs, and were in town for a large sporting event, so we had lots of gear, etc. Pros: The biggest pro: Customer service is 10/10, with hands-on ownership! We had some special circumstances and definitely troubled them with questions and needs, and they were amazingly accommodating. It also snowed overnight and the snow was cleared in a reasonable amount of time. - Pet friendly - Affordable - The heater worked very well. We are still acclimating to Wisconsin winter weather, and I was so glad when the room wasn't drafty despite sleeping next to the window. - Good proximity to everything you need. Only minutes from Walmart and seconds from several other places. Cons: - The building is on the older side, so if you have asthma or respiratory issues I do not recommend you stay here. However, nothing was broken, all the fixtures worked fine and we all had hot water. - The rooms are on the smaller side, but it was perfectly sufficient for our needs and it's a cozy place. Overall I would stay here again for the convenience and accommodating customer service, and for being family & pet friendly!

I went to put the chain on the door as I was facing the street and it didn't reach - since I don't know Medford it left me a little uneasy. I was told there was coffee in the morning and it was good but nothing else was offered for breakfast. The TV was so small and far away I could barely watch it. All in all not bad but not great. In a pinch I would stay again. Great staff is wonderful but rooms keep people coming back.

It is more like coming to a second home than a hotel. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfy. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. We are a very large group. Some of us have disabilities that require special assistance, adaptive rooms, service animals, and caretakers. Some of us travel with aides or professional assistants/managers. This hotel handles it all with professionalism and calm. We use banquet spaces, meeting rooms, suites, hospitality spaces, and the restaurant. We take up most of the parking and if the pool or sauna are available, we are in my heaven! A few of us even use the workout room or hang out at the bar! This hotel keeps us coming back because they treat us well; they feed us well; they serve us amazing hospitality; and the fees are a great value! If you're in Marshfield, don't overlook this inconspicuous gem of a hotel! It's a part of the Best Western Group. These people put the "best" in hotel service industry! Thank you to you all for a job well done!

Our State Lions are moving their Counsel of Governors meeting here every couple of months. Our room was very nice with soft toilet paper and tissues and thick towels. The bed was comfortable including the pillows and comforter. Our room was a king suite with a couch and good size tv. One of our parties had a suite big enough to be considered a condo. We all ( about 30) had a pasta buffet for dinner on the Friday night we were there. It was $20 each and included a fettuccine, cheese ravioli with a Mariana sauce and a Alfredo sauce, strips of chicken and shrimp. Salad and bread sticks. I opted out on the bread sticks but sadly our while table of 8 did not get any shrimp as it was all gone. The salad was almost all gone and some at our table did not get salad. About half the table did not get bread sticks. I didn't want any but others did. There was plenty of chicken strips. The food was tasty. They have a continental breakfast and because they have the restaurant right there the food is a step above the usual hotel, I think. My husband brought back to the room my breakfast scrambled eggs and oatmeal and a banana. The eggs were fluffy and tasty. Because I did not go,out to the breakfast buffet I did not see what all was offered. My husband said they had ham for the meat but it looked like fake ham. I can only guess what that meant but will check it out my next few visits. Our meeting room was spacious and comfortable. We had a buffet lunch after our meeting that had salads and dinner rolls at our table along with a variety of desserts to choose from-8 to a table. At the buffet line they had servers. Probably had something to do with the running out of shrimp at dinner, we were served beef tips and chicken fillets, roasted potato wedges and vegetables. Once again we were happy with the food. They have self check in and out but I did not get my bill in my email so will have to call them as the receipt is needed to get reimbursed.

Worst check in experience I've ever had at a Holiday Inn…read more The woman was like a robot with a very negative message and attitude . (In monotone) "Welcome to the Holliday Inn, the pool is closed for remodeling, we do not offer free breakfast here because we are a conference center not a holiday inn express, enjoy your stay". First of all, why wasn't the pool closure shared when the reservation was made? Telling people when they check in (unless it was a last minute issue) is pretty damn shady. My next issue was the breakfast comment by, I didn't ask about any breakfast (because I know Holiday Inns don't offer it) so why give me a lecture about this is not an Express? Next I got to my room and turned on the TV and found that all channels have digital numbers (such as 49.1). The cheep remote only has whole numbers so it is absolutely worthless! You can't key in a number like 49.1, you have to start at the bottom and work your way through the entire list of channels! They have approximately 80 channels available and you have to click up or down (one by one) to get to each station. (So if you want to change the channel may have to go though all 80 channels to find your program). Don't even think about surfing for something to watch! The TV has no menu so you have to just sit and press up and down until you might find something to watch. Frustrating to say the least! I really thought I was wrong about the horrible TV situation so I called the front desk and asked how to change the channel and I was told "with the remote". (Yeah.... Wasn't impressed with that response!) I used to stay at this hotel a lot in the past (for work) but had some issues. It's been a while so I Thought I'd give them a try again, this will be my last. Workers with bad attitudes are unfortunately becoming more and more of the norm of late, and I hate to completely blame businesses for the talent pool of employees that are out there. But, the cheapness of the small TV and worthless remote, and the poor communication about the pool has made me wish I would have stayed elsewhere. If you don't watch TV or don't care if a hotel has a hot tub or pool (hopefully this will be fixed sooner than later) than maybe you'll be happy here. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

The woman who helped me over the phone let me know that the only room they had left was a king room with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The price was very reasonable, and at that point, I happily took it. From the moment I arrived, it was clear this was going to be a MUCH better experience. The lobby was clean, bright, and inviting. The same woman I had spoken with on the phone was also the one who checked me in. When she asked where I had been staying before, I told her, and her response made it pretty clear that she also knew it wasn't exactly the greatest area--or "hotel." Walking to our room, the hallways were bright and clean, which was already a welcome change. Then we opened the door to what we jokingly started calling the "honeymoon suite." The room was spotless, there was no stale smoke smell, and the door actually locked securely. It's amazing how much you appreciate the basics after a bad experience somewhere else! Our room number was 222, so obviously this was going to be great. If you believe in that sort of thing. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, and having the fireplace and jacuzzi tub was a fun bonus that we definitely weren't expecting when the day started. They also offer a complimentary continental breakfast with a nice assortment of mini muffins, bagels, toast, a waffle maker, and other breakfast options. What started as a stressful hotel situation ended up working out for the best. I'm so glad we were able to get the last available room here. The property was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, and the woman who helped me both over the phone and at check-in was wonderful. After the experience we'd had earlier, this place was exactly what we needed.
