This was our first stop after settling into our Airbnb. A genuine Irish Pub! Not a celiac friendly spot BUT everyone was friendly, the service was lovely, the food was AMAZING, and it was a great historical vibe. A must visit when in Dublin.

    Inside it's Christmas everyday

Everyday is Christmas at the Hole In The Wall. I've deemed this bar to be my favorite bar in Ireland simply because we found it on a magical day of traveling all around, the interior made us feel like kids again, and the service/vibes here were lovely. Hole in the wall lives up to its name of being the longest bar in Ireland. I don't know if that's true or not but I can confirm it is a "very long bar" lol. I like how you feel like you just keep walking and walking into different rooms and the interior again is just so inviting and fun. We came during a weekday for a late lunch beverage and my impression was it was primarily locals. Just my observation. It was either the manager or the owner who was helping us and he was very nice and welcoming despite us being "clear tourists". We were served right away and checked up on to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. You can't go wrong with a Bulmers cider and good company here. This will be a staple stop upon my next visit.

Great restaurant, awesome food and service! Music is so good! They play a variety of tunes, you will not be disappointed! First time in Ireland and will definitely return! Love the holiday theme!

Literally through the hole in the wall

What a spot. Quite literally through a hole in the wall, you will find one of Dublin's most inviting and quirkiest pubs, owned by PJ, one of Dublin's most inviting and quirkiest pub owners! After a lovely walk in the park, a friend and I decided to visit the Hole in the Wall for some food. We were randomly treated to a tour of the pub by PJ - there's even more history in it than you first realise, from the old gates that are soldered onto either sides of the bar, to the ancient Guinness taps on display on the wall. There was a roaring fire going in the chimney splitting the lounge and the bar (welcome on even a 'balmy' summer's evening in Dublin!), and there's trinkets and antiques as far as the eye can see. There is a full bar menu in here, or further through, a beautifully decorated more modern restaurant. In between, you will find a fantastically stocked off-license, with more wine variations than I've seen in quite some time. The cool thing about this place is that you can buy your bottle of wine in the offo, then head into the restaurant and drink it, with no corkage. Class or what! The food itself was nice - not quite up to the standard I'd been led to expect here - I got cod and chips - the chips were massive and crispy, perfect. The cod came in three massive portions, but was a little greasy and fried to within an inch of it's life. Either way, this place is just the perfect place to chill and while away the hours. There are benches outside as well, and of course the Park next door, for those sunny days we WILL be having over the coming summer. Bring it on!

I went here for the first time today for Sunday lunch with friends. From the outside it didn't look very appealing and a bit dilapidated but the large car park was convenient and once you step inside the door it all changes. The place is really authentic and has the feel of what you might imagine to be walking into a bar 300 years ago. You're kind of expecting Frodo and Bilbo Baggins to appear from one of the little nooks or archways. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it got quite busy but the service never suffered. The food is straightforward but we all really enjoyed it, my wife had the burger and I had the fish and chips and we both were really happy with the quality of the meat/fish respectively. The prices are quite high for what it is and the location so that's something to watch out for but at least the quality of food and service is good so you're not feeling like you've been done when you leave. I'd definitely go back, would be a great place to have a bit of a session.

The Hole in the Wall holds the record for being the longest pub in Ireland. It's not very wide inside but the pub stretches the length of three medium sized houses. It feels like you're walking down a very long hall way. This place is three businesses rolled into one: it starts off as a pub, the middle contains an off license and the rear is a restaurant. Because Hole in the Wall has existed a very long time, it has acquired some interesting relics. The inside is decorated like my grandmother's house with shaggy lampshades, framed pictures of country cottages and old unwanted antics. The pub remains popular with a diverse crowd. Many people who visit Pheonix Park end up here because it borders on the park. There are lots of families enjoying traditional Irish food and lads drinking pints and watching football on TV. This pub has a good atmosphere and I recommend it to anyone who is tired of drinking in town.

In Dublin is easy to hear that that thing is the biggest, the shortest, or the highest. In the case of The Hole in the Wall it is claimed to be the longest pub in Ireland, and it is said that it has the longest bar counter in Ireland. When I went there for my first time I though seriously that the waiter would come with an scooter or a bike and in each table I would find a microwave to warn the food after the long way from the kitchen. (Just messing). Long time ago it is said that the barman of this pub served drinks through a hole in the wall, and this must be the reason for this name. They have a shot like inside where is possible to buy bottles. The food is good, tapas like menu is available. The croquettes, gambas and a hamburger were my election, the gambas and the croquettes were good, the hamburger not too bad.

Wow. Excellent food, excellent service, fantastic atmosphere! Staff could not be more helpful if they tried! We had the tapas and most of them were fantastic. Stuffed mushrooms were wonderful, tempura prawns great, goats cheese was good! My rosti was burned and the chicken wings were dry. Beer selection was amazing, especially as a non alcoholic beer lover. I will be back.

I should start by saying this is a review of the food, the Hole in The Wall is a great bar and well worth the visit for a pint. Unfortunately, despite what I'd heard and my high expectations, I was not impressed with the food here. My friend and myself shared three tapas to start and had a main course each. We had the tempura gambas, potato and mozzarella croquette, and duck liver pate. Firstly I didn't think much effort had gone into the presentation, even the dips were just presented in little plastic tubs. The tapas were purely average, the croquettes didn't taste as if they were freshly make and the gambas were chewy. For the main course I had the duck confit, it was on the daily specials. The duck was dry and the cabbage was tasteless. However, the potato fondant and caramelised onion was very good. I really wanted to like the Hole in the Wall, the restaurant is very atmospheric and looked great for Christmas. However, for me, the food really didn't cut it.

Wow this is quite a spot! Love it! Is great for going for lunch, great for going for a pint with friends!!! The food is really beautiful! Salmon is out of this world. Is really affordable. Comfortable place! Staff are very friendly! One of the things that caught my attention was this very old section where u see old medicine bottles. I always sit next to the fire... I've had lunch here so many times and I can say "Trio stuffed Pepper" gorgeous!! "Fish and chips" uhmm!!! Veggie pasta!! Is tasteful too!! I will have to come here in the evening for some drinks! Amazing place! Fully recommend it!

The pub uses the same calp limestone in the masonry work as the Phoenix park wall, giving it a real traditional character.

We visited twice, and the first time was on a Wednesday night. They were able to accommodate us mid-week without a reservation, but Friday night we made one to come back. There were gobs of people waiting to get in so we're glad we did! The entrance is very non-descript. It's an ugly grey metal door with VCC randomly applied, so if you didn't know what was there it would look industrial. There is a door bell to the left of the door. Ring it a few times and someone will open the door and check you in. With reservations they do make you wait until exactly that time so don't be alarmed. Your table is already selected for you. The inside is loungy and very swanky. Both times we had extremely comfortable chairs. Service is immaculate. Their menu is massive, very well published and explained. Our servers were both able to explain exactly what the cocktail may taste like as some of the combos might blow your mind. I had the Dirty Wizard which sounds odd on based on ingredients but was delicious. I also had the Purple Pearl which was my perfect cocktail. My husband tried a few different whiskey concoctions and he was impressed by all of them. I highly recommend adding VCC to your Dublin itinerary!

For visitors stopping in when things are quiet and little colder, the pub's rich wood interiors and OMP* can be just what the publican ordered after a weekend elbowing through the crowded pubs in town. We got our drinks without a problem, but then we watched the bartender refuse service to an older lady and her three friends -- who didn't even seem to be drinking yet -- saying the bar was closed. A few minutes later, someone else came up asking for a Jack Daniels "to drink fast," and he laughed and poured it without hesitation. Then another girl asked for two Guinness, and despite claiming the bar was closed, he said, "How can I say no to that?" and served her. Watching the older lady get singled out like that felt awful and unfair. On top of that, the bathroom was disgusting -- no toilet paper, no paper towels, and the toilet seat wouldn't stay up. Even with limited people watching opportunities, it was fun to look down on the main floor and on our level catch glimpses of a young date in progress. 3. Friendly and pleasant wait person. 4.
