Slick and sexy, Holborn House may across as a bit too cool for school. Its elite coordinates and the many suits fresh from work definitely exude a certain image. The open plan and strategically lower than average chairs work with the large chandeliers to create a super stylish bar/club feel. The music was repetitive with a strong beat and few words and the clientele is admittedly gilded. This is exactly where I would place a Google analyst on a Friday evening and that's exactly who we went to meet there.
Definitely felt a bit out of place here when we got here as people seem to clique up into groups, most likely from work. However, the bartenders were eager to get us served and were friendly. We met a few friends of our host and became more comfortable. Mostly wine and cocktails served, with only a handful of your common brews on tap. I think two pints of Amstel was £10.17 as they added a service charge of a quid in to the bill. Not a fan of that but I suppose Holborn sets its own rules. I liked the modern interior and it wasn't nearly as packed as it theoretically should be given the time of week.
Overall we were glad we accepted the invitation but it wouldn't be my first port of call. read more
