We wanted to try this new Hawaiian bbq spot since it was closer to us and why not try it it out. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed when we got ate the food. CONS: - not much flavor AT ALL - overpriced for the amount of food you get - dining experience ( no napkins/sauces available--you have to ask for everything) PROS: - nice containers the food comes in - chicken katsu and shrimp was crispy - lots of options on menu I was excited to try the fried rice because it looked good. There was just no flavor what so ever. The macaroni salad and meats had very little flavor than what I'm used to. For my veggies, I only received cabbage and literally one piece of broccoli. Our bill came out to $43 for a one item and two item with fried rice substituted. It's not like the food was horrible but it just had no flavor and I had to drench everything with the sauces it comes with in order to eat it. Sadly, this would not be one of my recommendations for Hawaiian bbq.

Take out (doordash) Mini Meal- bbq chicken (no veggies)
Viclaire S.

There are a few options for Hawaiian bbq around the area and we wanted to try Hoku. Disclaimer: we didn't go there to dine or pick up. We doordashed (is that even a word?) Anyhow, new spot, let's try. I really wanted to love this place. I ordered the mini bbq chicken meal. Trust when it says MINI. The meat portion seemed generous but I also asked for no veggies. But the Mac and Rice portion is truly made for kid size. The taste is very ok, not horrible, the mac tasted very watered down- lacking in flavor, the chicken was cooked well- I like the bite size pieces. The bbq sauce on the side was decent, nothing to rave about. (At the time) Doordash charged $5.99 for delivery and service fee was $4.20. Our food arrived 20 min after estimated time because the dasher made a stop on the way. This is no way Hoku's fault. I live borderline vacaville (still Fairfield) and due to the distance, this can happen. We probably won't try this place again unless we are in their area. Doordash pricing is not worth the fees. If we do go back, I'd try the malasadas.

Wonderful Hawaiian food at very reasonable prices. The BBQ shortribs were fantastic - well marinated and tender. The chicken katsu was nice and crispy and the bbq chicken was solid. The BBQ beef was so-so. My two complaints were that the rice was a bit dry and the vegetables were watery and oily. Overall, we would definitely come back again.

Hoku BBQ Plate. Just a few more shrimp would have been nice. Other than that, food was delicious

Food was good. More shrimp though. Service was very good. Ambiance was nice Hoku BBQ Mix would definitely order again.

To be honest, it was a bit of a mixed bag. It was super-hot outside, little over 100 degrees, and sadly, there was no AC inside. It wasn't hot inside the building, but it wasn't cool either. It could really do with getting AC for those hot summer days. As for the staff, they weren't downright rude or anything, but they didn't exactly go out of their way to be helpful either. My main issue was the restroom cleanliness, so I opted not to use them. The food portions were pretty generous as others have said, so you definitely won't leave hungry. The problem was, none of it had much flavor, even the sauces. The meat was nicely cooked, but it just didn't have that tasty Hawaiian BBQ kick you'd expect. And the prices were a tad higher than what I thought they'd be considering the food. So it didn't feel like great value for money. In a nutshell, this place could be better. If they could spice up their food a bit, make the place more welcoming, work on their service, and clean up the restrooms, it'd be a much better experience. If they decide to work towards those things, I'd definitely come back to give them another shot.

Chicken Katsu, bbq chicken, spam Musubis and malasada

Did not know this place existed because it is hidden in the strip mall behind Raley's. We were supposed to have brunch at a near by place and when we got there they said the wait was 45min. My family and we're super hungry and while waiting we walked around and ran into Hoku. We walked in to look at the menu and decided just to give this new place a try and we are so happy we did! We ordered the chicken katsu, bbq chicken, Spam Musubis and malasadas. The service was super friendly and we got our food pretty quick. There are two tables inside but we decided to eat outside because the weather was so nice! The food was great! Our mouths and tummy's were both satisfied and full. The chicken katsu was crispy and not over breaded, the bbq chicken had great flavor and the delicious malasada's with their homemade cream cheese dipping sauce was a perfect sweet treat! We definitely will be back!

BBQ Chicken and fried rice.

Hidden gem off the highway in Fairfield. I'm not familiar with the concept of "Hawaiian BBQ," but I got the chicken and fried rice and it was excellent. Almost seemed like basic American-style Chinese food but the chicken was drenched in breading and sauce. They had a sign up that clearly said "No bills over $20" and I was too stupid to see it, but their customer service was great and they took it anyway.

Wanted to like this place but completely Underwhelmed and disappointed with food. Ordered DoorDash at 430pm before dinner rush Cons: Minimal amount of food (especially for the price) Smallest amount of rice and vegetables I have ever seen Saddest spam musubi ever Fried rice had way too much soy sauce Chicken katsu had weird breading and oily I didn't get katsu sauce (don't know if they don't offer?) Mac salad is the oniony one like L&L Pro: I liked the containers Bbq chicken juicy but under seasoned I would not eat here again

this was the same raw salmon that they served us they just refried it, i thought they will make us a new one but no
Joh E.

we ordered hoku mix, galbi, hoku ramen and salmon plate and waited almost 30 mins for our food to be served and i didnt get my hoku ramen instead they gave us 2 hoku mix i just didn't complain because i don't want to wait anymore i just want to eat and leave. So when my nephew started to eat his fried salmon and cut the middle its still raw ( i didn't get the chance to take a photo) went to the counter and told them the the server we to the kitchen and said " THEY SAID THE SALMON IS RAW" instead of saying " THE SALMON still raw" so he said they will make it again, so 2 mins pass we got the salmon and when he opened it they gave the same salmon as you came see in the photo and the beef on the hoku mix its sour. Definitely not coming back here and not recommending it to my fam and friends.

I had their chicken katsu with curry and the curry tasted like water. I don't think I'll ever order that from there again.

Their plates come with meat over a gigantic pile of rice, a side of fresh cucumber and red onion salad, hummus, and grilled tomatoes and onions. Don't forget the pita too! This will feed 2 for $20! I only wish they served this with some tzatziki and hot sauce as the rice is dry af. Lucky for me, I had some tzatziki and Dragon Hot sauce (shout out trader joe's - so good!) to pour on top. Let me tell you, with all the fixings, this is the ultimate plate! The food is fresh, vibrant, and I appreciate the healthy serving. They were nice enough to let me do a combo of two different kebabs. I had chicken with my kofta, but the chicken was ok. Kinda dry. They do offer shawarma too, beef or chicken. You can't combine shawarma with kebabs though, FYI. My BF said it came out to about $25-28 for the kebab combo. At that price point, I think I rather just stick with the one meat option. The gyro plate is good too! You get the cucumber salad, hummus, and pita still but they top the gyro with a little feta crumbles and some sliced red onions. No grilled tomatoes, however my second visit, they gave me some tzatziki and hot sauce on the side, so I think you may need to double check or ask for it to be included. Prices have gone up since a few months ago so new menu photos are attached! My to go order was ready in 15 minutes, and I was in and outta there in seconds :) They DO take Apple Pay!

I'm usually someone who can only eat a bite or two of cupcakes because they tend to be overwhelmingly sweet, but these were much more enjoyable. They were still a little sweeter than my personal preference, but not in an overpowering way--I almost finished my entire cupcake, which rarely happens. Everyone else loved theirs as well. The pricing felt fair, and the person working behind the counter was very friendly. My only suggestion would be making it a little clearer that the bakery and coffee shop share the same space. As a first-time customer, it was a little hard to tell which business was which. Overall, great cupcakes, friendly service, and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Famous Creations has a bunch of sweets including cupcakes, cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, and custom cakes. This inside of their space is open, and quite empty. The decor is cute, but overall the space feels a little incomplete. I got the Ube Tres Leches after wanting a sweet treat after lunch! Their Tres Leches has good components of a good Tres Leches: moist cake soaked in milk with a creamy whipped cream on top. However, the milk did not appear to be evenly absorbed across my portion of cake, as some sections remained without any milk. The cake also seemed to be the only thing ube flavored, so overall the ube flavor was lacking. The cake in general was yummy, but was not my favorite as an ube tres leches. Their desserts overall look great and their custom cakes are super cute! I hope to try other items in the future.

PLEASE SEE ALL SCREEN SHOTS AFTER READING!!!…read more I have been meaning to write this review for a while now. I had a trip planned and needed a meal prep service, so I decided to give Spicy Girl Meal Prep a try. Despite seeing some negative reviews, I thought it couldn't be that bad. Unfortunately, my experience was a total disappointment. I paid $205 for the service to be delivered and was very clear about when I needed the food by. However, the food was never delivered, and I was given the runaround when I tried to contact the company. They claimed that the food was not delivered because of the holiday, which was unacceptable. When I finally got a response from them, an assistant named Dana texted me to say that they were closed that day. This was after I had called repeatedly and left several messages. It was clear that they had no intention of delivering the food. At this point, I had to come up with another solution for my meal prep needs, which was a huge inconvenience. My wife called the company from a different phone number and was told that we would receive a refund. However, we never received any refund despite reaching out to them through email. In the end, I had to dispute the entire process with Venmo to get my money back. Overall, I had a terrible experience with Spicy Girl Meal Prep, and I would advise anyone to stay away from them. They are unprofessional, unreliable, and clearly do not care about their customers. Update: I find it outrageous that I had to resort to contacting several mutual friends on Instagram just to reach her. Finally, one of her friends came forward and told me that she had mentioned my experience to Jade. I was very clear with her that Jade was lying about the situation, and that I intended to leave a review about it a year later. It's interesting that Jade has just reached out to me with an invitation to have lunch and fix the situation, which seems shady and as if she's trying to cover herself. The truth is, she should have done this a year ago when I had a terrible experience.
