Hokibar is one of my favorite spots in town for poke bowls! I love their build your own bowl concept, and there are so many combination and topping options you'll never get tired of the menu. Whether you're looking to try an adventurous combination of toppings and proteins, or a tried and true favorite, there's something here for everyone. I love getting my bowl with half rice/half greens as a base, tuna (always great here) and allll the toppings. I've tried most of the sauce options and never had a bad one! I decided to try this place for lunch and I was overall pretty pleased. The inside is cute and clean and their kiosk up front makes it easy to pick what you want and customize your bowl. I enjoyed my bowl, but there really wasn't a whole lot of fish compared to other places I've been. I love all the options of things you can get and it's really nice you can get sushi as well if you're feeling that. I will definitely be stopping in again to try something new! read more

I was impressed with the large selection of options for different types of rice (I went with brown). They also had a ton of protein, garnish, and sauce options. We placed our order and sat down. Eventually they brought us our food. While they got our proteins correct for each of us, they made lots of mistakes with the toppings. I love poke and was excited to see hokibar open up a location near me. I visited on a Saturday night. Ordering is straightforward on the kiosk. I noticed the restaurant was very clean and well maintained. The service was good and my order was delivered promptly. I decided on ordering one of the signature bowls, the Kansas City Bowl. Everything in the bowl tasted fresh, and I thought it was a nice combination of flavors. It is a little on the pricier end, but I left satisfied with the amount of food in the bowl. Perfect amount for me to leave satisfied but not too full. One thing I would've liked would've been more sauce in the bowl. It has mango salsa listed for the Kansas City Bowl. It seemed a little dry to me. I'll probably tweak my order a bit next time. I also ordered a Thai bubble tea. Unfortunately, after I already ordered I was noticed they were out of boba. I was offered other options and picked the rainbow jellies. I was not a fan of those and you really get a lot of them! I loved the great variety of healthy cooked and raw proteins, bases, toppings and sauces available at this new restaurant, which offers poke bowls (signature and custom) and sushi. I also enjoyed the first-rate service. My regular (6" x 2.5") two protein custom poke bowl ($13.99) was built to order at the counter. The ordering process was very customer friendly, with good labeling of the various options at each stage (bases, sauces, proteins and toppings). The salmon bowl popped with flavor from the many fresh ingredients. I also liked the complimentary miso soup. I was impressed with the great selection of proteins including salmon, octopus, ahi tuna, shrimp, scallops, beef tataki and Spam. I also liked the great selection of healthy bases and toppings including brown rice, kale, spinach, Spring mix, seaweed, cucumbers, chickpeas, takuan, tamagoyaki, mango salsa, ginger, etc. I only noticed two items with an upcharge (eel and avocado). All but 13 items were gluten-free and clearly marked as such. GO HERE!! I absolutely love Poke, when I lived in California it consumed the majority of my diet. I was so happy to hear that a Poke place opened in Overland Park since it seemed like the majority of them closed prior to my moving to Kansas (2021). This place is fantastic. I wouldn't change a single thing about what I ordered. When I read their background on the website it said they trained at Japanese and Hawaiian restaurants on the West Coast. They also offer sushi and boba at an affordable price. When you walk in there are kiosks to order from (yay! Introvert me), and then you enter a table number and seat yourself. We were the only ones here at the time, so we were served quickly. It is a great looking place with about 10 tables, pretty quiet. I did ask what Hoki rice was, she said it was coconut rice made with green tea. The bowl I ordered had white rice. read more

Food poisoning or food borne illness after eating at Hokibar OP. My husband and I ate at Hokibar OP on Tuesday 8/12/25 at about 2:30 pm. We both had the beef teriyaki on our build-your-own bowls. Hours later we were both horribly ill with some sort of food borne illness. It has been three days now and we're so sick that we've been looking into which ER's or urgent care to go to if we become too dehydrated. We're also filing a report with the KDHE, which I really wish the previous reviewers who got food poisoning would have taken the time to do, because it might have prevented anyone else from getting sick. Horrible service. Ordered DoorDash and the order was supposed to take 40 minutes to deliver. Understandable. An hour elapsed. New delivery time is 2 hours from the order time. Called dasher. No response. Tried finding the number for this store, no number listed on google. Found their "number" on yelp. It went to an unserviced number. No way to resolve this and DoorDash charged me for the whole order. Will never order from this location again. We were so excited to discover Hokibar and really enjoyed it the first time. However a few weeks ago my daughter ate there and then got food poisoning. She was hoping it wasn't from Hokibar. However a week and a half later my husband and I ate there and we both got food poisoning also. I tried to calling numerous times to let you know, but no one answered the phone. So excited this place opened, as I really dug them when I visited them on the Plaza, and the other poke places closed nearby me. Really, really like they give free miso and hot tea. The food is fresh, healthy, lots of tremendous options for your poke. Taste is superb. The bowls and specifically creating your own are my favorite. My toddlers enjoy their dumplings.
