The technician that was sent was fast and professional. During the visit without prompting he said that the service call would be waived (presumably since they charged me $500+ for a few pounds of Freon and 20 minutes of time on site. When the bill arrived the service charge was still on there. After several attempts to get this rectified between my wife and Hoff's AR "professional", Pam, I sent Pam a brief email explaining that I was frustrated due to their internal miscommunications and that I would pay the bill but posting about it online. Here is our exchange. Me: Pam, I did not imagine the words that your tech spoke at my house. We will pay the full invoice and follow up with a review on our experience with Hoff. Your technician was professional and fast but communication issues like these are your internal problems that need to be worked out as they are spilling over to your customers. Pam: Oh Troy, I hope you don't think I'm implying you "imagined" those words. There is a chance that the communication can be off, and we continue to strive to be better and improve daily. For future reference there is ALWAYS a service call fee when we are called out to your home. Thank your for your prompt attention to paying the invoice. If your employee makes a mistake then you should stand behind it as a company. First and last time dealing with Hoff. read more

I had a problem with my air conditioner not cooling. I had used Hoff Heating and A/C for several years with no problems. I called them again and Larry came out and said that I needed a new capacitor. The next day the unit still wasn't cooling, so Hoff sent Aiden back out to look at the unit. Aiden said that the unit was out of freon. He said that he didn't know why Larry didn't check it when he came out the first time. Aiden said that the unit may have a leak. He said that he could do a leak check for $175 but he may not be able to find the leak, or he could put Freon in the unit with sealant that is supposed to stop the leak for $185. He said that he didn't personally recommend doing it because it didn't work. He said the third option and the one that he recommended was just putting Freon in the unit and running it and if it ran out soon, then it had a leak. So, I reluctantly agreed with him and told him to go ahead. He came back and said that he had put over 4 pounds of Freon in the unit and it held 8 pounds to fill it up. He ask me if I wanted him to fill it up or stop at 5 pounds. He then told me that his Freon cost $100 a pound. The last time I purchased Freon, I was able to fill the unit for $85. So, I told him to stop at 5 pounds. The total bill for both service calls of $800 and they didn't fix the unit or solve the problem. My son then offered to have one of his friends who does commercial heating and A/C look at the unit. He came over and removed a panel next to the opening and showed me the leak which was very easy to find and see with in 5 minutes. So I replaced the total heating and A/C unit with him and it was up and running with in a couple days. He also gave me his employee discount. He said that the previous two technicians should have taken off the panel and checked for the leak without selling me a new capacitor that I may not have needed and selling me $500 of Freon without insuring there wasn't a leak on the system. So I feel that Hoff Heating and A/C just took advantage of me for $800 and didn't make any effort to really solve the problem. I called the office and left a detailed message of what happened and ask for a Manager to call back to discuss this. It has been a week and they never responded. I don't feel that Hoff did a good job for me and feel that they did not have my best interest in mind when making the service calls. Don't let them take advantage of you. read more

Had used them for several years with good service. Our furnace went out and after 4 visits they said they couldn't figure out what the problem was, and kept blaming the brand of furnace. It clearly states in their ad that they work on all brands. So we began getting bids on a new furnace, as by this time we were into the second week of November. The winning bid was Agers Heating & Cooling because they discovered black mold in an air conditioning panel. Hoff completely missed it and that's hard to excuse after 4 visits. read more

We woke up on Sunday to the air conditioner blowing warm air. As the day went on, it continued to get warmer in our home. We called Hoff on Monday morning and they had a technician out to replace a fan motor and capacitor. The AC worked great but on Saturday we woke to warm air again. We called Hoff and again they sent a technician out who was able to locate a part that had burned out. They replaced the part and we were quickly up to cooling again. Our second call was free. We have used Hoff since the HVAC people in FHSD schools district recommended them 20 years ago when our AC needed to be replaced. We have been very pleased with the service we received. read more

Over the years they have been reliable, professional, and very accommodating. My latest issue was a water heater which needed replacement. With in 2 days, of my call, it was completely. We have trusted Hoff to perform our Heating & AC work for many years, and today's service confirmed the quality of that decision. Our AC unit was not performing as expected and they sent out Larry to look at our unit. We were expecting a significant bill, especially as he neared the 2-hour mark on the repair when we received the surprise of our life. Larry identified that there was a minor error in a previous repair, and Hoff didn't charge us a penny, not even for labor. Hoff did an unbelievable job today. My AC went out on a Friday night and we figured out Saturday morning. We called right when they Opened at 8 and someone was there within a few hours. Which is great in the industry for a weekend call during a heat wave. The guy that came to fix it was very honest and quick. The AC started working right away and at a fair cost. I would recommend Hoff HVAC for any heating and cooling needs. read more

First (and last) time hiring this company. Called for furnace check-up before winter. Service guy (wish I had his name) came and tells me that everything is wet from a clogged hose and that we need a new circuit board. He said someone would call us with a quote on a new circuit board but to this day, no one has ever called. Well, the day before the service visit, my husband personally inspected the furnace and there was no water or leak. So, we called Apollo Heating and Cooling. They said we did NOT need a new circuit board and that the error code clearly stated that the pilot ignition was the problem. He cleaned the ignition and the furnace works great! I would NOT recommend this company at all!! read more

I am very impressed with the care and service we received from Hoff Heating & Cooling. Our AC unit was dying at the beginning of 80+ degree weather and Hoff was able to send a tech out within a few hours to help. They replaced the damaged part immediately and we were back to cool air! Unfortunately, my AC compressor had a different plan. Less than a month later, the motor froze up and I had to call again. They waived the service call fee since they had just been here less than a month ago. The tech was able to explain clearly what was wrong but was not certain the part needed would be available for a day or two. Amazingly, I got a call from the scheduling office later who was moving around tech routes to relay the part I needed to the local office, get it to a tech, and get the tech back to me that evening. They jumped a few hoops to do it and get my AC back on before the next day's 87 degree weather and I was so thankful! They also sent (same day) another service rep at my request to look over our system and give us a quote to replace the unit and/or full HVAC and offered a credit back for the parts recently replaced if we would prefer the replace the unit (which I knew was likely and have been prepared for given it's 23yr age). It was a busy day but every person I spoke to was wonderfully helpful and never rushed or pushing any decisions, they just gave me all the information and direct contact to ask any further questions. We will most definitely be loyal customers of Hoff in the future! read more

If they give you a window of when they'll show up, (ex. 8am - 12pm), don't expect it to be anywhere close to the earlier part of that. It's 11:24am and they're just now here. But the tech was very polite and honest. Said everything looked fine when he could have recommend an expensive repair or a replacement. He did mention a heat pump instead of what we have, but just gave a ball park figure and said to let them know if we want an estimate. read more

Called hoff heating and cooling two weeks ago to schedule an appt to install a humidifier and they agree to come between noon to 4. I get a call from them at 230pm the day they are to come out during the scheduled service window to tell me that they can't do this today and asked me to reschedule in the fall. Since it is May I thought that was beyond ridiculous and asked to speak with a supervisor. I spoke to Brian Hoff who was rude and condescending and asked me to tell him why it was so important that I get a humidifier now and I told him that I was getting hardwood floors installed and he proceeds to tell me that I know nothing (if I did know, I wouldn't have hired them and did it myself) and then said that if paid him $1000 he would come out today to install it. I asked why would I pay him that when they are supposed to come out today anyway. When I asked why I was not told 2 weeks ago that the humidifier was better to be installed in the fall, he replies "Those girls know nothing." Stay far away from this company who has no respect for people's time or women apparently. read more
