Wow did I have a different experience then the rest of the reviews. I called them to install smart switches in my house. The quality of work that I received was very poor. He left a mess everywhere. We were cleaning up small pieces of copper and trash for days. Even after I pointed out the mess he was making, his response was "oh my trash box has a hole in it." Did he bother to clean it up? Nope. The job was simple - replace regular switches with smart switches. To say the job was over his head is an understatement. At one point I had to step in after he wasted hours of time (which I got billed for) and redirect him before he went crazy. And instead of calling for help and having a more experienced tech help, he just painfully attempted to deal with it. Once he lost it, the job went down hill from there. He replaced switches I didn't want replaced and the hole project turned into a pathetic mess. For example he put a switch in a spot that never had a switch to start with... I had to hire another electrician to come in and fix the issues they created. read more

I would assign 1 star as negative numbers are not allowed. Asked for these folks to come out and convert ceiling light to recessed lighting. Was told they would call me in 1-2 days. !0 days later finally called and came out but refused to give me any idea of what it would cost. Their policy is no estimates ever. You are asked to write a blank check. Charged me $200 for basically nothing. Drilled some holes in ceiling where they proposed lights but did this before contacting me. Keep this in mind if you think of contracting with these people. read more

We called Hodges electric they said they would come in 10-14 days. Wait they came in 3 days! That was awesome!!! We really appreciated them coming early! The electrician was a great guy! Postponed appt 3-4 times. Showed up without a call and saw no necessary repairs. Never contacted me with results. Sent bill double of estimate citing 15 miles of "driving time". Found out tech told company he showed up the same day. Very disappointed and would not recommend for any repair, or even estimates. Would probably charge the customer for their lunches. I needed an electrician and tried several and none returned my call, despite several attempts - except Hodges. Not only did he return the call promptly, but he tried several more times as to phone tag with me. And then he gave me some unsolicited, free advice on how to fix the problem on my own - and it was correct, and saved me a service call, taking time off from work, and the cost. Owner was very nice to deal with no problems. I was going to get a generator hook up for house. Signed a contract to do the work in April, because it was cool and had to cut the power to complete the job. Waited a month no word no calls, I called ,oops forgot about you put you back on the list. waited ,waited , finally a call in July 3 month later 92 degrees outside wow really ! The job it would most likely take 2 days to complete the work that what the owner said . I was going to call them again next spring to see if they could do it for me then. Now they charge me 300 plus dollars because of contract and supposedly materials . I don't know if they are under staffed or short staffed during that time frame. WARNING to all If you decide to use this company and sign a contract . Get a specific start time !!! Will not use them again ! read more

They have a strong customer base of many, many longstanding loyal customers, both on the private residential side, as well as the commercial side & a good relationship with many local contractors. They pride themselves on providing quality electrical service at an affordable price, with a focus on customer satisfaction & prompt response time where 'no job is too small'. It is an unfortunate yet unavoidable occurrence in operating a business in the same town for over 57 years that once in a while you have an unsatisfied customer. Had the customer named Dale A. who gave them a negative review ever bothered to contact them directly to voice his concerns, perhaps they could have worked with him by explaining things better, possibly reducing his bill or otherwise. Instead, he decided to NOT pay his bill when he got it. He decided not to pay his bill until after three months when he received a letter from Hodges Electric threatening legal action if he didn't pay.... it was at this time that he also wrote the review...same exact day as payment was received three months AFTER services were rendered and in an angry state from having to pay what was rightfully due. Never called Hodges Electric to complain prior to this. Never gave them an opportunity to make him a happier customer, not even knowing he was dissatisfied until reading the review. Needless to say his 'facts' are not exactly accurate either. Hodges Electric took the call from Mr. Dale A. on 3/12/14 stating a GFI would not reset & to bring one with him, a technician was dispatched to the location provided in a neighboring beach community approx. 15 miles away on 3/16/14 - but first as instructed he had to stop at supply house en route to location. He was asked to call & meet with the tenant at the location (not the owner Dale A.). The technician got needed material, drove to location, met with tenant, checked breaker in pane & found no issues, checked receptacle in kitchen & found no issues, checked the TRIPPED gfi receptacle, reset it & tested it several times, appeared to be new, everything working when technician left. These are the actual facts as they really happened. The customer Dale A. was not even there to attest to what the technician did in fact do, the tenant was. Also the owner had been quoted an hourly rate & was by no means overcharged for the amount of time it took to get material for this job (that weren't even needed, but owner insisted he bring), drive to the location (20 mins drive time one way), meet with tenant and check all the things he did. Sorry this customer was not happy with his bill - which was entirely fair. read more
