Absolutely the worst service ever. The charge a $125.00 travel fee no one else charges. The weekly service is unreliable with careless service. They broke a tile and of course refused to acknowledge it. I found the top of the chlorine floater in one of my leaf skimmers. I checked the chlorine salts and they did not fill it so every week it runs out. They are supposed to be looking for maintenance issues every visit but the guy that comes doesn't know anything but dumping chemicals. read more

Just over 5 years ago we had Hobert Pools of Murphy Texas (https://hobertpools.com/) do a pool installation with installation of extensive decking and construction of a brick outdoor kitchen enclosure with a grill/fridge at a cost of around $100K, and including the highest end decking offered, a Travertine paver deck; we were thrilled with the final product. But after just 2-3 months, problems began with the decking. The pavers began to become unstable with sinking and rising in several areas - most notably along the run above a trench that was dug by the Hobert team for French drain installation as part of the pool/decking installation - but the unsettling/shifting of the pavers extended well beyond that area and also with some exterior coping falling off along an 8-feet section adjacent to the worst of the paver shifting 30 or so feet from the trenched area. Sure, we live in N TX with shifting soil, so a bit of instability is expected, but this was pretty bad and was noted within the first months installation. Once problems had progressed to clearly being in need of assessment and repair, our reports of these problems to the company began by email June 11, 2019-less than 1 year after completion of the installation that occurred August 2018 - reporting the shifting pavers and requesting assessment and assistance from Hobert Pools; we have a series of emails documented from then through Oct 2022 regarding our decking problems - almost all with e-mail replies from a company representative confirming their receipt, but none of which led to any response/action by the company as the deterioration continued progressively over these years. Finally, after a call to Hobert Pools Oct 13, 2022 - 40 months after our first report of the problems - for the first time, a Hobert employee was sent to evaluate. This warranty expert as company describes him acknowledged the severity of the problem and told us he would see what they could do to remedy. That led to no follow-up or action of any kind from the company. Over the subsequent year, the decking just kept getting worse to the point sections were unusable with unstable footing - and from Fall 2022 to Fall 2023, progressing to affect disintegration of our grill/fridge outdoor kitchen brick enclosure - that by the way, was assembled on top of sand-based pavers instead of a dedicated solid foundation. So, we again called the company asking them to reassess and suggest a plan or resolution; the same Hobert employee reassessed the problems ~Nov 2023; he escalated the issue to management. After ~2 months following that visit/assessment, again with absolutely no follow up or action by the company, I posted a series of negative online reviews and at the same time, filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. Remarkably, after 54 months from our initial report of the problem of no action/plan by the Hobert Pools, I got a company reply within 8 hours of the posted complaints, not by personal communication but rather in the form of rebuttal posted on the review/BBB sites. After 2 rounds of completely unproductive back and forth comments between me and a representative from Hobert Pools on the BBB website, the complaint was closed by the BBB without resolution. It remains my opinion that each of the 2 company responses posted on the BBB.org website were a) riddled with inaccuracies; and b) completely dismissive of our issues and unsympathetic. It is my summary interpretation an opinion of this company response 4 1/2 years overdue is "We don't make mistakes; we don't warranty decking; this is not our problem-it is your problem" with Hobert Pools taking no responsibility/offering no assistance with the matter/and not even offer an apology for 4 1/2 years of virtually non-existent response/customer service and no plan for remedy/repair at all around these issues. Salt in the wound...a week after initial online posting of negative reviews and our filing a BBB complaint-we got the first response from Hobert Pools with a proposal to address our myriad requests/reports of our deteriorating installation: an e-mailed estimate for repairs for over $25,000 with no additional communication otherwise and the company taking no responsibility, offering no assistance to remedy the problem, and again, no apologies. My parents live near Arlington and wanted to install a pool in their back yard for when my wife and I visit with our daughter. They also have been getting into water aerobics. Actually, Mr. Duke L, I started to use Hobert Pool Services, but as I stated, in my previous review, there was no follow-through from your company representative (who came to view my pool and suggest pool renovation). After our initial meeting, this individual advised he wanted to meet with the mason to view my pool for further recommendations.He scheduled a date/time with me, for this meeting. On that day, and one hour after the appointed time, I called the Hobert Pool representative to ask why he never showed for our appointed date/time with the mason. No one was asking for free service. $155 charged for 6 minutes because you company was too lazy to look up the specs when called over the phone about the pool YOU BUILT to see that an ozone pump was installed. Hence the air coming out of one jet consistently. It's not getting charged for the service it's the scam that you guys knew it was working properly from the minute you got to the house as per your own tech "this could've been addressed over the phone." What a clown of an owner. Moved into a new house with a Hobert pool. Noticed some air coming out of one of the jets. Spoke to David the service manager over the phone and sent a video of the issue. Had a technician come out to the house and spend 6 minutes at the house to tell me there was nothing wrong with the pool. Apparently the air is due to an ozone pump that Hobert installed when the pool was built with previous owners. As a result, I was billed $155 for 6 minutes of service. No exaggeration. 6 minutes. Spoke with Hobert about it and they were of no help. Would not recommend for your poo OR service. Clearly they don't stand by their work and try to take advantage of people regardless of whether they built the pool or not. Would not recommend working with them. Hobert pools has been so frustrating to work with. They completed our pool in 2021 which was a crazy time of year with delays ect. But the worst part is the issue with the pebble tech (recommended by the sales person and company). We followed all directions to brush the pebble tech twice a day ect and were told it would smooth out. It has now been 2 years and the pebble tech is still cutting our kids feet. Just last wknd we heated the pool, and my daughter and nephew both cut their feet on the sharp rocks of the pebble tech. We have been calling Hobert and they basically said this was expected (that it would be rough enough to cut feet). However when we called other companies they were shocked that this was going on. We had our pool built by this company 14 years ago and we are looking to get it replastered and have some rock repair done. The guy Don came out and looked at everything and was going to send an estimate back to my husband....NEVER got anything from him so my husband called spoke to his assistant in the see if they were going to send it. I contracted Hobert pools to build in 2023. There communication was excellent throughout the build and the finished product was better than I imagined. The reason I went with Hobert pools is they are well established company and I knew they would be there to take care of me if I had any issues come up after the build. They did exactly that. They honor their warranty and they have someone that will actually answer the phone if you need help. They have been around since the 70's and that is why I chose them. They also don't use any cheap pool equipment. Their standard package that comes with every build is an upgrade for most other companies. They also have a wide range of standard materials so you are not spending a ton to have an upgraded look on your pool. read more

If it was me in charge of providing exceptional service, I might actually just try taking care of the issues your team creates. You don't have to be condescending and dismissive to your customers. I didn't fail to mention that I was advised that Hobert was going to redo the mastic. As you pointed out, I wrote the review on 8/21, so how was I supposed to know that someone would finally get back to me on 8/24? I'm not clairvoyant. Yes, the service technician did advise me that usually you do not warranty this work, but you will fix the mastic. I've had mastic done before, right here in Texas with this soil that is so tricky for you pool builders, and never had such a poor result. Our mastic has gaps that look 5 years old. I'm happy to have it replaced, but it's been another two weeks and I still haven't heard anything else about having it taken care of. In the mean time, water is now leaking from behind the retaining wall onto the pool deck. We would like that fixed. We are not unreasonable, we just expect your workmanship to be top quality, and when it falls short, make it right. We haven't had water in the pool even 6 months, and we have issues. This is not normal wear and tear. We also have a coping stone that is cracked and needs to be replaced. I have sent another email to your team to try and get this done. If you are wanting to improve your poor ratings, take care of your customers. Until then we will continue to post the issues we have to deal with. I'm not trying to take any business away from you, I am just giving people an honest assessment of our experience that may help them with their expectations when dealing with you. I know that building is not an exact science. We have done several construction projects. We just haven't worked with a company so unwilling to stand behind their product. I know you think you are doing us a favor by repairing the poor workmanship on the mastic, and I'm sure we'll get the same excuses about the retaining wall and cracked coping, but we spent a year's salary on this pool and don't expect to have to have it redone every six months. The receptionist that answered my call said "if you are only getting a one-time service, we don't have anyone available for you"! She continued to raise her voice, while screaming, repeating the same thing. She was very condescending and should not be a receptionist anywhere. It is very important that the face of any company is inviting and helpful. That is, if this company cares to please the customer, they would need to change the face of their company. I am going to keep it short although I could go on for days about how frustrating it was to work with Hobert Pools. I am giving them three stars because in the end my pool came out nice but if I were only reviewing their customer service it would be one star. These people are so rude and treat you like you are a pest when you ask questions and the scheduler Angela must be related to the owner because she is the worst! She does not keep you updated with when the crews will be on site and half the time they are rescheduled and don't show up but she does not tell you. I have the text messages to show their nasty attitudes if anyone is interested. Probably the WORST, most overpriced pool company. We built our pool with Hobert in 2017 trying to support a local Murphy company. Big mistake! They put the pool equipment right next to the pool instead of on the side. When we asked them to move it, they said it would be an additional $2,000. So we left it there. Fast forward a few years and we wanted to add a spa and got a quote but the guy never came back. We found another Company and added a spa. Don't use them unless you have a list of money to burn! read more

Well we ended up having an issue with our pool after all. The tile on the hot tub started cracking and breaking. Turns out it's a tile defect. Only happens in about 3% of this particular tile during extreme temperatures changes. Hobert is coming out to install new tile and taking care of us. They also pulled the tile from the show room. I'll post again once we get the tile in. Our robot started not working so well. I asked about it and guess what, they said it was under warranty as well. They came out right away and fixed it. A part had to be ordered and they hot that quickly and came back out to fix it as well. We are back up and running. So far very happy with the warranty process. I'll keep you posted. read more

Please read their many complaints on the BBB website. I have been waiting to write this review until I had exhausted all means of getting my complaint taken care of. Here we are a year later with nothing. First of all, they are terrible at communicating. After many emails back and forth with Hobert and logging a complaint with the BBB it appears we are stuck with an embarrassing $18000 remodel. The plaster is not smooth and has become somewhat discolored. There are bumps and gouges that made their own staff say it looked like bad cellulite. Their explanation is that you can only make it as smooth as what is underneath but our old plaster was not lumpy and how do you explain that one side is perfect? The coping had dangerous sharp edges that they did attempt to fix by grinding them down, but they also did a terrible job on that and replaced part of the grout with a color that did not match. If I was Hobert I would be mortified if this was an example of my work. I will say our tile and decking look really good, but now we will have to pay for someone to replace the coping. Found out that I had been lied to about the plans being approved by the City not once but twice and now Hobert Pools wants me to spend the money to fix the issues with the City that they failed to disclose to me. They did not disclose that the permit was not approved pursuant to Hobert's plans until after 2 months and $100k later. I now have a hole in my backyard and will have to file litigation against them. Like the reviews from other consumers, my coping also has dangerous sharp edges that they they have not fixed and the grout for the rock waterfall/grotto is extremely noticeable with a color that did not match. Unreliable! They started our pool 2 months ago and it still is not finished. The scheduler (Angela) is not very responsive and won't tell you timelines in advance. On at least 3 occasions, workers no showed for scheduled work without reason. This was after we were on a 4 WEEK waiting list for tile, which we were not told about until we signed on. They do not schedule out your work, they wait until each phase is completed before scheduling the next crew. This company was very prompt when they wanted our business, but now they have it and they are dragging their feet. It seems they are more concerned with the quantity of sales versus quality of their current customers. They have clearly over committed to new business. We have expressed our frustrations with the company, but no improvements have been made. read more

Thanks for your response, DL. I would recommend you guys sample a few of your current customers pools and ensure their CYA levels are at acceptable levels. Ours built up so high that the chlorine was locked. It's my fault for only trusting and not verifying the weekly service. There should probably be more oversight of the techs to ensure they aren't just loading up chlorinators every week and calling it good. Appreciate the response though. read more

Bad experience with their service department (Murphy) and constant / recurring problems with pool equipments. also, do not buy the UV that was recommended by sales guy. -Problems w/ UV equip. that service guys said you do not need it and should remove it & you should never bought it in the first place - constant problems with pool cleaner. they have replaced it several times and it keeps breaking - Electric problems where pool equipments shutdown and started in year one. service department said it is not covered in the three years warranty. now I have had this recurring problem several times and i'm getting charged because it is caused twice by UV system which is also not covered in the three years and recommended by them to remove it. read more

Hobert did a fantastic job designing and installing exactly what we had in mind. The designer was able to easily integrate our yard and existing gazebo. Start to finish we dealt with the best in customer service. Ours was done just in time for summer. We have only had one repair necessary and they were there to do repairs super quick. If you do business with Hobert Pools, MAKE SURE you do not provide them with final payment until you have received everything. Especially the final inspections. I have a neighbor that travels months at a time and I cannot get hold of him. In order to pass my final pool inspection, we have to have anti-climbing rails installed on both of my neighbors fence since the poles are on their side. I cannot pass my final inspection until the rails are installed, or the city inspector approves that they do not have to be installed (Which he has not approved). Hobert began building my pool on 09/19/18 and completed it on 01/21/19. I have to reach out constantly to Hobert to find out the status of my permit and what they are doing to try and resolve. My Hobert salesman, Victor Mueller indicates that I need to reach out to the city myself to try and get the final inspection passed, or keep trying to reach out to my neighbor "To See" if they will allow me to install the rails on their fence. He indicated that the neighbor cannot be gone forever. He also indicated that I am letting my emotions get the best of me and that I need to use facts and common sense and not anger and exaggerations. Everything I've discussed with them have been facts and I feel that I have the absolute right to be angry, or upset with the lack of customer service and the feeling that Hobert is screwing me now that they have their final payment. I am being asked to complete the work that I paid them $65k to complete. By the way, the issue with the neighbor being absent constantly was discussed prior to starting the pool. read more

Talked to Kristi to schedule appt. She is great. However, the Service Manager/Owner's daughter, Linda is rude and cut me off, doesn't listen. Informed me when I asked if she was the owner that her Dad was the owner but she told me "you won't be talking to him". This company was built by Hobert Murphree, who apparently was big on service. It's not a consistent build process. You're lucky to get 1 piece of work done a week. A SIMPLE pool build process is going to stretch from 4-6 weeks to 10 weeks. They have 1 patio building team. ONE! You wait in a line until the project before you is done. They don't reach out and communicate ANYTHING. Repeated emails and phone calls are met with unprofessional replies. SAVE YOURSELF HEADACHES! Everyone I spoke with on the phone there was kind and listened. I did not experience the negativity I read on the posts here. One time I was a little cranky when I needed my heater fixed and they jumped right on it. They understand the power of social media. I know that if I'm angry about something, I'll surely post a hot nasty gram. I rarely post when I'm pleased.
