All kinds of non framed stuff for your walls and other homes decor stuff like vases and wall sculpture. They have all kinds of cool gift stuff now, martini glasses and Michael Godard plates (the guy who paints live olives) Adn the prices seemed to be reasonable, more than something you buy at Target but much cooler! There is such a good vibe within, as owner Mallory is a friendly, kind person who has a lot of unique, hand-made, terrific items. The shop is in its fifth year and is thriving. I appreciated the fair pricing and overall quality of the products. We will add Des Moines Mercantile to our stops on future visits to Des Moines.

When you open the door, you meet a perfectly delightful and friendly shop owner. There is a wonderful variety of merchandise that would please a diverse array of shoppers....jewelry, clothing, kitchen items, large assortment of beautiful French tablecloths, home decor and much more. I bought two great necklaces made from Tagua seeds from Ecuador. I just love them and have received many compliments when I wear them. They are so attractive and unique. I also purchased a gorgeous rectangular French tablecloth in blues and yellows and some cute kitchen towels. In my shopping I also acquired a stylish top with a lacy edge and a fishnet type top to go with it. The shopkeeper also has many artistic wind chimes for your patio. Mine has a metallic dragonfly and colorful beads. If you can't make it to her shop, she also has a stall at the awesome Des Moines Farmers Market every Saturday for 6 months of the year. That's another thing that you should definitely experience! What a great little shop, full of such interesting things! Wish it was in my city!

Consignment stores aren't normally "my jam". In South Florida they are mostly cluttered and dirty and I don't have the patience to dig through them. Until now... On a recent trip to Iowa to help my brother get his new apartment sorted and we had some time to kill. He mentioned going to another consignment store and finding some good things, so yelp searched the area and found this place popped up just 2 blocks away. TL;DR - this store is awesome!! It's much bigger than expected. It has some very unique finds. It's quite affordable. It does have a bit of a 70's era theme, but there are pieces to fit everyone. As we were leaving I said "we didn't really appreciate all the dirty looks we were getting, bye." And this cashier followed us out to berate us and tell us "if you had better control over your children[she wouldn't be giving us dirty looks]" I said " ma'am both my kids have ADHD I was trying my best what do you want me to do? Never take them in public?" And she continued to berate us as we were walking to the parking lot, she literally didn't need to do any of that, she could have just taken the feedback and not said anything as we were already out the door as I was saying it, but no, she felt the need to give her judgment at what terrible parents we apparently are. If she has adult children I'd definitely understand why they no longer speak to her, but I'm sure it's more likely with how bitter and unhappy she is that she doesn't have a family at all. DO NOT COME HERE WITH KIDS! These people clearly only want adult customers as all kids can't be perfectly behaved all the time and that's what the staff members who work here expect. I'd give zero stars if I could and return what we did purchase from them because clearly the owners have no problem employing bitter and rude employees who are fine at looking at their customers like they're worse than the dirt stuck to the bottom of their shoes. Please don't give them your business, especially if you have kids.
