I have had Carribean and I'm a real foodie/traveler from all parts of the world. My hopes weren't…read morehigh coming here, and should of went with my intuition. Didn't wanna drive all across town for good Jamaican food so I came here this week. Let's just say costly for the quantity they give, and very little to nothing. I've been places where 25.00 dollars for peas and rice, oxtails, plantains and cabbage, will be plentiful, and can't finish on a good day, with no shortening. I feel there isn't any competition in this area, so you get a sense of they are the best, when they aren't. Well if you know know, then you know. Wanted the oxtail plate, but was told approximately only four oxtails come with it. SMH, FOR THE PRICE. Yes, you can choose two sides per plate, although additional plantains are 6 dollars more for an order of maybe 6. That's a dollar each almost, and just wanted a double order with my meal. Sides are Carribean/American mixed. No this isn't a Jamaican restaurant with all your taste buds flavors, and your quantity per meal/price. So I asked about the Jerk Chicken plate, which I like my oxtail gravy on my chicken and rice because I can't have alot of spice, meaning the jerk sauce. The cook told me, they don't normally do that...but she will honor it that night. Once again, customer has a preference in gravy versus sauce. She went added it on the side. But encourage me to try the jerk sauce on the side. Maybe cause I'm well traveled that oxtail gravy on the side taste like the broth from oxtail, but more like regular beef broth, no gravy. And the jerk sauce on the side also was bland, and plain. The jerk chicken by the way taste like it had Mrs. Dash orginal seasoning written all on it, and the portions were small, not what I'm use to elsewhere for those orders. And I could only imagine the oxtail plate...Smh, glad i didn't choose that. The wet mac n cheese and plantains were the only good thing. I guess every Carribean Island country is different, and how they do there plates. St. Croix by the way. But no justification to the seasoning and sauces. The cashier said they been open about two years, and yes I seen alot of people with either food delivery or takeout like myself that night, but not dining in. They do have a 4.5 stars on Google review, can't explain it why. Well, for the price and what you are getting isn't worth it here from my thoughts. And not to mention the drinks/juices are like 5.00 dollars or more. I'll leave this place at a 1 star, for the mac n cheese and plantains only.

The dining area is pretty spacious and on New Year's eve there were just a few other guests also dining there. A few others came in grabbed to go orders and left. The women's bathroom was spotless. I forgot to get our servers name but she was great and it didn't take too long for us to get our food besides the patties being made fresh to order. The beef, chicken and spinach patties were all fresh, flaky, crispy, and well seasoned with the perfect amount of spice. I had brown stew chicken with rice/peas, cabbage/carrots and plantains and my niece had jerk chicken with white rice, plantains and greens. All the food was good except I felt they skimped on my chicken portion a little and my chicken could've used a little more spice. It was cooked perfectly though, very tender and even though the portion was smaller than I'm used to it was just the right amount for me to eat during lunch, just not enough to take home for later like I'm used to doing at other Caribbean spots. We ended up getting patties, plantains and jerk chicken to go. Also, the patties were fresh and piping hot but the rest of our food was warm, almost room temperature.

Thank god we found this!…read more After finishing our lunch at Wrap & Roll, we saw this out of the corner of the eye and decided to stop here as the girlfriend was looking for some caribbean snacks. Being from St Croix island in the Virgin Islands, seeing the menu and taking in the smells of this place gave her memories of back home. Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself!

The woman taking my order (sorry, I didn't catch her name) was gracious about changing my order after we realized the inKind app wasn't working. I opted for the jerk chicken, plaintains, and (Caribbean) potato salad, which was a first for me! The woman let me know ahead of time that the potato salad had a pink coloring due to the beets used in it; I'm glad she told me, atherwise the color would've taken my by surprise. I could barely taste the beets, but the relish and mayo were great combos. The rice was super fluffy, though the chicken was a bit bony and not as plentfiul as I am accustomed to when ordering from other Jamaican establishments. I dined in so was able to see the in and out traffic; it appears that they have steady customers, which is always a good sign! The overall vibe is super casual.

We weren't seated in the greater eating area where it was cooler and maybe where the gnats were less of a bother.
