I would suggest: made to cook skewers :) Yes, the cart looks a little sketch on the corner of 61st and 8th, but I'll assure that the food is legit, yummy and cheap. With a variety of options offered from typical beef / chicken / pork, you can get gizzard, squid, lamb and other stuff. Prices range from $1-4 and the portions are appetizer sized (meaning they're not huggggge but enough to satisfy a temporary craving). Simply walk up to the cook, tell him what you want and wait for your turn. For the most part, I'll assume this is a cash only place. So make sure to bring your ones and coins to make the transaction easier! Also, highly recommend the spicy powder on your food. Quite tasty with a pow.

I've been wanting to review this place since forever but never knew there was a review page for it…read moreuntil about a day ago. Once I found out the page existed, I used it as an excuse to drive down here to "do some research" to make sure that the quality is still the same before I could give the place a fair review. Yep, still one of the better BBQ meat on a stick carts around. The great thing about this place is that they marinate everything very well and it shows with each bite that you take. Once cooked over charcoal, they sprinkle a generous amount of cumin seasoning to everything then they ask if you want chili powder added on top of it. For me, the answer is always a yes for the chili powder. The choices on a stick here is beef, lamb, chicken wing, tofu, fish balls, and hot dog. My favorite is the lamb (really tender), but the tofu, beef, and chicken wing isn't too far behind. Everything is a dollar a stick except for the chicken wing, which costs $1.50 each. This is as cheap as good street food gets. It's very small though so it's only good for a snack or else you would have to buy a lot to fill yourself up.

A halal truck in Sheepshead Bay that I can finally trust will give me my bang for my buck!…read more To be honest, I haven't tried too many halal trucks in Sheepshead Bay because (1) there aren't many of them and (2) the ones that do exist do not look too great. Typically, I would trek all the way to Bay Ridge on 4th Ave. to get some good halal, and I know that's a very long distance, but I swear I was crazy hungry every time I went! Anyhow, I did a little research online and BAM! Sammy's was the best and most rated halal cart on Yelp so I needed to check it out. My wife and I swung by, on a casual Sunday morning, and it was exactly where it was supposed to be located, on the corner of Coney Island Island Ave. and Brighten Beach Ave. As expected, there was no one waiting on the line on the busy street. What was surprising was that we were only charged $5 for each box of food! In the year of 2018, it's like finding gold when you find a halal cart that still sells chicken/lamb over rice for $5. By now, most carts are at $6 or even further north of that. So the verdict? Excellent quality! Being native New Yorkers, we considered ourselves halal cart food connoisseurs and Sammy's was right on with the best of them. We had a lamb over rice and a chicken over rice box and the meats were hot, fresh and tasty. The rice was also cooked perfectly. Besides the flavors, we loved the big portions too. We both added barbecue and white sauce onto our boxes of rice and the sauces were exactly as we have had elsewhere. Tip: Yes, barbecue and white sauce are the combination of sauces to go with! (not hot and white sauce) The bottom line is that you can trust the food quality and portions of rice from this halal truck. It's exactly what we were looking for. Best of all, now we no longer have to schlep ourselves to Bay Ridge for some good ol' NYC halal food because there's one right in our backyard!

In 2014 when I moved to Brighton Beach this was the best halal food cart around. The rice was the…read morereal deal -- perfectly cooked fluffy basmati with all the herbs and spices but none of that fake processed barely seasoned yellow rice you find in the franchised halal carts. The chicken was in identifiable juicy chunks and their sauces were legit the real deal. Today I had the chicken rice...and I was devastated. Like "The Halal Guys" assembly line carts throughout Manhattan and gentrified Brooklyn, the rice was radioactive-orange and tasteless, the questionable chicken was dry and gristly and the white sauce was -- I kid you not -- freakin' ranch dressing. I ate less than half but couldn't bring myself to finish it. Sigh. Another one bites the dust. Go to Gyro Express down the block. They have tandoori!

I ordered the noodles with curry fishball for $4 which is a steal since the same thing at my favorite place in Manhattan is $5.50 now. The noodles were al dente which I actually do like. The one star I deducted is because the sauce is very peanut heavy. I would've preferred more of the other sauces; I actually added more soy sauce at home and that was perfect. I'll take the extra $1.50 off to add my own soy sauce! Only wish they had pig skin on the menu.

We ordered a regular churng fun with fish balls, and a large curry with fish balls. The regular has 4 fish balls vs. the large which has 6 fish balls. So if you were hoping that a large would have more fish balls, it's really just a boat load more of the churng fun. Way too much carbs. Other than that, I can't really complain. It's quick and it's cheap, and it's pretty good (although I didn't taste much curry flavor in the curry one).

The price for the salad with chicken is $11 as they advertise. They charged me the same price as a meat option.
