It looked great and only cost me $5 cash. The best part is I got home at 4:22pm!! When has that ever happened? This lady is ON POINT. I can't believe it took only 20 minutes from idea to reality. So after approximately 14 visits (of around $200 per visit) I made a fatal mistake. I screwed up my calendar and missed my appointment. Kerry called and left me a message. I called right back. I called back 2 more times. Due to the timing it's also my birthday. I found out my MIL called and left FIVE messages (trying to buy me a gift certificate.) KERRY NEVER CALLED BACK ONCE. I drove to the shop to see if it was open and she was ok! Yep, she's just ignoring me. She ghosted me because I made 1 mistake in 3 years. Her voicemail message to me was, "You're never late and it's 10 minutes past your appointment time ..." So guess what I now know: 1) one strike, you're out is her unwritten/unspoken policy 2) she won't even give a courtesy call to explain her unwritten policy (there is nothing on her website and no sign in her shop) One bone of contention I've had: - when I first started going to Moxie I got reminder calls - they just stopped and on at least 2 occasions I called the shop to see if my appointment was still scheduled - in today's digital / social age I get reminders from EVERYONE I deal with (doctor, dentist, Pilates, massage, etc.) Kerry: IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE INTOLERANT OF SCHEDULING MISTAKES then put your money where your mouth is and use a reminder system -- I'd have never missed my appointment if I'd received a reminder. And, while I found out the hard way / now have 14 weeks of roots, I'm happy to now see Kerry's character. I have no interest in giving my business to someone who is intolerant and uncooperative.

She is absolutely amazing! My highlights and hair have never looked better, and I'm quite particular. She is truly an artist, her color is spot-on and beautifully done. There also is no double-booking, she takes her time and is very detailed. Plus her cuts are great as well, and it's hard to find someone who can both cut and color. Fifty-five dollars. A blow dry is another couple of bucks, not $30 like in other salons. They offer some waxing and manicures as well, but their main business is hair. I almost never write reviews for haircuts, but I was genuinely impressed by Masa's work. I've worn…read moredifferent versions of a bob for the past four or five years and have had my hair cut by several stylists, including Japanese stylists in Asia, so I've become quite sensitive to small differences in shape and proportion. Masa was extremely careful and focused throughout the haircut. I told him that I like some outward movement, don't like an overly round or "mushroom" shape, and that my hair has some natural wave. He translated that into a cut that feels very natural and very much like me. What impressed me most is that I actually liked the haircut even more after washing and drying it myself. My natural texture came back, and the shape still worked beautifully without an iron or elaborate styling. The salon is simple and quiet, and Masa is very understated, but his sense of proportion and craftsmanship are excellent. I'm very happy I found him.

Masa is incredibly kind and polite. He isn't the kind of hairstylist who chats nonstop, but he's thoughtful, professional, and clearly takes pride in his work. Meanwhile, his wife was chatting with another client nearby, and the two of them were laughing together the whole time. It made the salon feel warm, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming. The first time I went, he asked if I had a photo of the haircut I wanted. I didn't. I know there are Japanese hairstyle websites out there, but as someone who isn't Japanese, I had no idea where to find the kind of reference photo he was talking about. Even so, he gave me a great haircut. The second visit was what really won me over. This time I described what I wanted instead of showing a photo, and Masa made it happen. Throughout the haircut, he checked in with me about the length of my bangs, how much layering I wanted, what he thought would suit my hair, and how much length we could comfortably remove from the back. I have chin-length, extremely straight hair, which is super low-maintenance but completely unforgiving of mistakes. If one side is even a little longer than the other, everyone can tell. Masa nailed it. I got so many compliments afterward. One friend even joked, "At least it's even this time!" which says a lot after my previous haircut elsewhere somehow ended up with one side noticeably longer than the other, and not in an intentional way. Yes, Senju Salon costs more than some places, but I've learned that paying less isn't a bargain if you spend the next two months looking in the mirror wishing your hair looked different. When I can, I'd rather pay a little more for a haircut that makes me happy every single day. I'll be recommending Senju Salon to anyone who asks. Finding a hairstylist you trust is surprisingly hard. I'm just glad I finally found mine.
