I have been going to the Avenue Hair Studio and Spa since it opened over 10 years ago. I have…read morealways been extremely happy with my experiences here! It's a little expensive, but with all the services and pampering they provide it is SO worth it! Hair services: Fully loaded color bar, including magazines and candy while you wait for your hair color to set. You receive a scalp massage (heavenly) while getting shampooed, along with a hot, steamy face towel. Afterwards, dip your hands in paraffin wax and receive a hand massage when the wax is removed. Last time I went they offered your choice of a make-up tutorial, which was awesome! All in all, I have always been happy when leaving!

My first experience here was for an updo and unfortnatly it was so bad I had to take it out when I…read moregot home - it was clear that this girl had no experience with updos and I do not think they should have allowed her to try on me, a paying customer. My second expierence was coming in for a manicure and the person could not do french tips, I have never encountered that before because it seems like a very basic "design". My third and final experience was recently when I was given a gift card for a mani/pedi/massage and I was not interested in the massage as I do not like them, but it was a gift, so I asked if I could use the remainer of the balance after covering the mani/pedi on a different service and they said no. So that is why I am leaving this review because that is poor customer service. I have not left a bad review prior even with my bad experiences because the staff has always been SO nice. But this time it was not a great experience due to customer service. Additionally, my GEL manicure started chipping in TWO days, whereas I have gone other places where it has lasted me 4 weeks. So I believe they are either not training their staff well, or they don't use quality products. Which for how expensive it is there, they should be doing both of those things. I would not recommend going here, unless you are in a pinch. Still leaving two stars because the girls who have given my services have been very nice and I think that is worth mentioning.

I've been going to this salon for the last two years. I'm always greeted at the door and offered a…read morecup of coffee, which is a nice touch. The inside looks very clean and trendy. I don't love the full length mirrors because who wants to look at that much of themselves for 20 minutes with their hair covered in color and piled on top of their head? But that's probably a weird thing to complain about. Most importantly, they have great stylists (shout out to Christina J). Everyone is exceedingly complimentary without sounding fake and I always leave feeling great. I did have an issue one time with not loving my color, and it was corrected and remedied ASAP -- I didn't even really have to say anything or ask, which is nice. It can be uncomfortable to complain if you don't love your style, so I appreciate that my stylist could just tell I didn't love it.

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with my experience at Mirabella after years of positive…read moreexperiences with this salon. I booked a full highlight and haircut for noon, and on the morning of my appointment, my stylist asked if I could move to 2 PM to better accommodate her schedule. I agreed. After processing my highlights, my hair was washed and toned. My hair is very fine, but I have a lot of it, and it tangles easily. She then spent nearly an hour detangling my wet hair with an extremely fine-toothed comb, which I have never experienced a stylist using to detangle wet hair. At no point was I told I would be charged an additional fee for this or that the time spent detangling meant there would no longer be enough time to complete my haircut. After about 2.5 hours, my appointment was abruptly ended because the next client was waiting. I was sent home with my hair soaking wet and uncut and told I would have to come back another day to finish the service I had originally booked. I was then charged $225: $140 for highlights, $25 for additional product, $25 for toner, and an unexpected $35 "detangling fee" that was never discussed with me beforehand. I called the salon twice afterward because I was so frustrated with how this was handled. My stylist later explained that she couldn't finish my appointment because she had already pushed her next client back 30 minutes. I found that particularly frustrating considering I had moved my own appointment by two hours that same day specifically to accommodate her schedule. I understand that appointments can run long and additional product can cost more. What I don't find acceptable is adding an undisclosed fee and ending a booked highlight-and-cut appointment without completing the cut or even drying my hair because the next client was waiting. I was offered another appointment to come back for the haircut, but after this experience, I have no desire to return.
