i unfortunately had a bad experience today with the services from this company. the guy (richard) came and did his job quickly and quietly but he also left all my lights on in the basement. he left the outside door open too. we have two indoor cats and they could've easily walked outside and gotten lost. i had to double check and make sure he wasn't still working or here. he finished the job and left without making sure the doors were shut. read more

I have used them before with good results but not the second time. My A/C was not cooling so I thought no problem I will call Hixon. When the repair person came out who I think was Hixon himself he walked around and showed me a few things and went into the attic to inspect more. He came down and said the A-coils needed to be cleaned and started trying to sale me a new unit. I told him the unit was only 7 years old and was still under parts warranty. He told me that the 3 ton units where selling out due to refringent change for new units. I told him well mine is a 4 ton unit and he said oh I don't look. He would not even give me a price from removing the A-coils and cleaning them. He sprayed some cleaner on them and it worked for the night and quit the next day. Next day I called someone else they removed and cleaned my A-coils and it been great ever since! read more

A while ago we called Hixon Heating and Air Conditioning to come out to replace our furnace, a bunch of dampers, zone board, circuit board, gas valve, 10 feet of duct work, contactor, a coil and a lot more, which cost almost $3000. Well sometimes it takes a second opinion to realize something is wrong and that just happened yesterday. I just had our condenser replaced by someone who was much more competent than these guys and who noticed we were leaking air in our attic. Today I just spent an hour in a 100 degree attic re-taping the duct work that Hixon Heating and Air Conditioning failed to do with foil tape that my HVAC guy gave me. Hixon Heating and Air Conditioning did come out right away when we called them, they seemed professional and came on time. However, the fact that they failed to properly seal their duct work is just terrible. We have a five bedroom home and air was not being blown into six rooms throughout the house and their response was that they were not supposed / there was nothing they could do. Why would a house have air vents if they were not supposed to blow air? Now, after sealing the duct work the air is blowing throughout the house, all because so much air pressure and heat/cold air was being leaked into the attic. All these guys had to do was spend $6.59 for a roll of aluminum foil tape. TIP to consumers. Always, turn on the air and walk around the duct work, stand under it and glide your hands all around the ducts to make sure they are properly sealed before paying anyone. I strongly advice getting a second opinion as well when spending substantial amount of money getting work done to your house, it could cost you thousands not doing so. I have used the services of HH&A in my previous homes. I find someone good, I like to stick with them! I recently purchased a 1987 ranch home over in the Brookwood district and knew there would be a lot of work to be done to bring it to the 21st century! We've replaced all the fixtures, replaced all the carpets, painted the interior, replaced the garage door. We started on the outside, working the landscape, painting the exterior. You get the point. Still plenty to do! We just took the family on a vacation to the beach and realized the air conditioner wasn't really cooling as well as it should when we returned. One call to HH&A and they were out there by afternoon! I explained to them with the understanding that this dinosaur I have cooling my home would soon need to be replaced, that I'd like to salvage it until i finished painting and replaced the shingles. Their tech went out and found a micro fracture in the freon containment system in the condenser unit, spot welded it, replaced the freon and my dinosaur lives on! I was charged very fairly for the labor and freon and now can continue with the other maintenance I was doing and have the proper time to do my due diligence and scale for a proper replacement down the road! Great work HH&A! You'll continue to be my choice for heating and air! read more

Went with Hixon to replace my upstairs A/C based on recommendation from friend and glad I did. Before going with Hixon, I had another local company come out to also assess issues with current AC and price a new system. Other guys insisted I needed the cadillac of all AC systems to cool the upstairs and estimate came in at about 5X that of Hixon (yes 5X). Hixon nailed it, with exactly what I needed to keep large upstairs area nice and cool without any overkill or upsell. Enjoyed working with Mitch to assess issues with current A/C (and solutions to keep up and running), but in the end, decided it was time to replace. Mike G and Josh did the install and would highly recommend. If you want honest, professional, and no nonsense people dealing with your AC, consider giving Hixon a try. read more

They came out Sunday and it took the technician Mike G , 2.5 hours to diagnose the problem. Our fan was running, just no heat, there was no flame. We thought maybe the ignitor. He ended up saying we needed a new control board. He returned Monday to install the control board, and it was around 430$. Tuesday morning at some time the unit shut down. My husband reset the breakers and closed the door on the unit (as it kept opening after the tech fixed it). I called Hixon and let them know of the problem. THURSDAY the same thing happened again, I called the technician at 6am (as we have a baby upstairs and it was freezing in our house), and he had the nerve to tell me not to call him "all crazy" and "don't tell him how to do his job". Wow, just wow. Thankfully the manager Phillip came out that day , on time, and fixed the issue. He said it was the flame sensor and it wasn't cleaned up properly. I finally had to replace my HVAC unit. Over a year ago I called several contractors out to give bids, and Hixon Heating and Air was one of them. I liked Richard Hixon when he came out. This year the unit had to be replaced so I called Hixon for the service. Phillip came out to give me an updated quote and he gave me a couple of options, including a total replacement. I chose the total replacement option not wanting to revisit this problem again in the future. Mike and Josh showed on July 1st and replace my entire unit inside and out. I felt so bad for them as the temps reached 95 outside and the attic felt like an oven. They finished the same day and within an hour after doing so, my house was already getting cooler. When they were finished, Mike took me to the attic to see what I was paying for and to show me the work they did. The new system is great. Made appointment for 12 to 5 timeslot. Got a call at 10.30 am saying they were on their way. Told them I requested afternoon slot but could be home in 30mins. They said they would be there just after 1pm. They arrived at 5.45pm. Had requested tune-up on 2 A/C units. They asked if filters were clean, put 1.5lbs of freon in each unit then gave me a bill for $154.95. Didn't come in house or check anything else. They were there 10 mins. Still not sure if A/C units are working correctly but I am sure I will never use them again and will post a "not recommended" post on the company website (a fortune 300 company) read more

I called Hixon for a second quote on a new AC unit this April after the the first company I called told me that my unit couldn't be repaired. Phillip came out that afternoon, and advised me that it was an inexpensive part, and that I really didn't need the whole unit that the initial company was trying to sell me. He fixed it right then and there, and saved me over $5k. When this unit does go out, I sure know who I will be calling. I can't say enough good things about the service I received.
