I came here after a lackluster, first visit to the Ripped Bodice. This experience made me not regret my book trip to Brooklyn. From the moment I walked in, the solo bookseller was the kindest human ever. She was genuine and authentically engaged with me, as I shopped the small store. She literally made the visit. I came in with a coffee, so I wasn't able to try the cafe part of their spot, but I want to come back to try it and many other reasons too. I appreciate that, despite having a smaller inventory, they are very selective and intentional about the authors they sell, which in turns means they support. Their merch is so dope! I have enough totes, but I HAD to snag one of theirs to commemorate my visit here! I left happier than when I arrived!

But we were wandering around and just came upon it. The store is a good size; you can definitely lose time exploring and browsing. It doesn't feel as tight as many independent bookstores can either. Founded by author Emma Straub, both Books Are Magic locations have some really wonderful touches: lots of recommendations by booksellers on the shelves, a large section of translated fiction, and merch for bibliophiles. I had to be dragged out - but not before I picked up a book that I hadn't seen on/in any tables, endcaps, pyramids in any other bookstore in the last few months. If you love to read, Books Are Magic is well worth a stop to browse and get inspired by a new read!

When the other store didn't carry it (disappointing), I knew I would find it at Community Bookstore. They carry an excellent selection of new fiction, harder to find fiction, classics and everything In between. If you can't find what you are looking for, they will happily order the books for you for pick up and even delivery. They have an amazing author events which, I really enjoy.
