Absolute hidden gem. Best pizza in Ellijay! The loaded special is a must try. Staff is always so friendly.

My favorite wings and pizza! It's always a must when I'm in the area. So delish. Be back very soon!

We tried pizza from the Hitching Post six years ago and it was terrible! After reading all the rave reviews we decided to give it another try. Big Mistake! The crust was super thin, rubbery in the center and over cooked on the edges. The cheese was elastic in texture, think of a rubber band. We were really hoping for a better experience but it was actually worse than we remembered. Very disappointing! We will stick with Cartecay Pizza. read more

Fantastic pizzas, if you love a thin crust pizza with overloaded toppings this is the place to go. I will be back my next time in Elijay.

Pizzas are amazing, always a great place for subs as well. Al and the staff are always great and a variety of beverages to choose from. read more

The pizza was very delicious and the beer was nice and cold. The service was friendly and fast. It was very good quality for a low price.

The pizza is great, the toppings are plentiful and the crust stayed crispy on our 20 minute drive home. I highly recommend this place. Oh and cold beer is always a plus. read more

We found this hidden gem one night while visiting friends who live in Ellijay. They ordered pizza from here and we we're blown away with how great the pizza was. In fact, this pizza is so good that we drive all the way from Jasper to Ellijay just to bring this pizza back home. We ordered 1/2 all meat and 1/2 pepperoni and it was as good as it looks. We call in our pizza order and use the drive thru window to pickup. Quick, easy, and delusions! read more

Hitching Post Beer & Wine Package Store - 1/2 all MEATS & 1/2 Pepperoni - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Ellijay, Georgia

Some of the best pizza I've ever had. The Meat Pizza is absolutely amazing. Prices are very reasonable for what you get, and the food is better than any chain pizza place. read more

Hitching Post Beer & Wine Package Store - The Meat Pizza - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Ellijay, Georgia

Pizza is delicious and truly is 5 stars. We just moved to the area and this was our first time trying it. The crust is thin and crispy and the sauce is tasty and just the right amount. The toppings are exceedingly generous and prices are very reasonable. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was due to the wings. They were pretty dreadful. They were soggy and lacked flavor. Essentially, think frozen Tyson wings that you heat up in the oven. Only one other bit of constructive feedback is they are takeout only. I wish they had a place to sit and eat but, they do not. They are actually a package store that serves delicious pizza. This is a must try place for pizza in Ellijay! read more

Best Pizza around. Second trip here and we love the Mayor's pizza. Go getcha some and tell'em we sentcha

Best pizza ever! My husband and I both love thin crust but we never agree on toppings! At The Hitching Post, we order the supreme and you get a lot of everything..no more fighting! Celebrated my 65th birthday last week with a pizza from HP! read more

Great pizza, loaded with toppings. Our favorite pizza in Ellijay! It is pick up only, which is fine with us. We like to go to the nearby park and eat it. read more

This place is a hidden gem in the NGMs. The pizza is better than anything you will get "in town" with very generous toppings and a nice thin crust. The wings, which only come one way, are plump and juicy with ample sauce. And if you need a six pack or basic wine they have you covered. Great overall value with no unnecessary pomp and circumstance. Just good value and old fashioned customer service. Can't wait to go back' read more

Drive-through pizza place was very convenient during these times. Staff were friendly. Our pizza was nice and hot! The pizza taste pretty ordinary. Not really much sauce a lot of cheese reminded more of cheese bread than pizza. It lacked flavor. I would recommend giving it a try and to see if it meets your taste. read more

I was really looking forward to trying the pizza here based on the reviews. The crust was like cardboard, the sauce was overly sweet, and that cheese had no flavor. The staff was super friendly, which is the only reason it gets two Stars. read more

This is hands down the best pizza in ellijay. Staff is super friendly and go above and not of their duty.

Great pizza! Crust is thin and crisp with lots of toppings piled on. Pizza is made quickly and employees are friendly. Good beer selection with growlers available. It is must have pizza whenever we are in town! read more

Stopped there to kill time when we couldn't get up to our cabin because of a fallen tree. The pizza looked good from the pictures on yelp and they look and taste even better in person! Come to find out, the nice man that owns and runs the place is the Ellijay mayor. He was beyond hospitable and eager to help us since we were stranded. We cannot wait to make Ellijay our annual Labor Day weekend trip and make a special visit to Al and his Hitching Post every year! read more

Super nice people that sit on the top of the hill! It's a package store on one side and a pizza/deli on the other. As soon as I walked in the smell of pizza was amazing!! All fresh ingredients with a super crust! I ordered the works and it was loading with toppings and the crust held it all without bending at all. It's not too thick or too thin. When you have a perfect crust with good sauce and amazing toppings you have a pizza from Hilltop! Ill definitely be back when I'm back in town! Oh , it's heats up the next day just as good! read more

Yelp reviews prompted me to stop. The only problem I had was that it was take out only and we wanted to eat out. Tried a sausage pizza and some wings as well as took home a gallon of Yuengling draft. Pizza was good and the wings were ok. Price wasn't bad. If you want a decent take out pizza stop here. Update...Tried Hitching Post numerous times at this point. I have to say it's the best pizza in Ellijay. People are nice, you can taste all the drafts and the price really is reasonable. They'll even cut your pizza into squares. If you're a Chicago native, you'll understand. read more

We needed some quick and easy dinner so the obvious choice was PIZZA! We are visiting from Atlanta and Jacksonville for a bachelorette party and we loved the cheese and pepperoni pizza (really great prices)! The drive through option was super convenient and the guy wearing the "tequila loves me" shirt was very nice! We ordered 4 pizzas and they were ready in less than 20 minutes. read more

Not a large selection of food items, but every single thing on the menu is delicious, with generous portions. Easily the best pizza in Elljay, too! Cris[y crust, fresh toppings - once you've had their pizza, nothing else in Ellijay even tastes like pizza any more. Highly recommended! read more

Fantasic pizza! The beer selection is great, the subs are great but this is one of my go to places when it is pizza night. Loaded with toppings and the crust is just right- not too thick but not so thin it can't handle the toppings. read more

Been a customer for 25 years n they have Never disappointed. Most ordered is the famous Al's pizza. Where do you find whole olives n toppings so thick you can't wrap your head around. If you just want a good sandwich and perhaps a case of beer to wash it down with, then the Hitching Post is your place. I had the roast beef on wheat and mama could not have done better. read more

OMG, my family and I have enjoyed "Al's Special", pizza since 1992. Amazing the topping and cheese on the pizza, no skimping here. Little pricier then franchise chain, but ohhh so worth it. Give it a try, promise you'll become a long time customer like us. read more

The best pizza anywhere...Al's Special is amazing....love the employees there too...Dolena and Brandi are the best!

We have been traveling to Ellijay for the last few years but this is the first time we visited this place. We ordered pizza to go and take back to the cabin. Pizza was very good and the owner Al was very pleasant. Nice place with friendly staff that assists and excellent selection of beer. Will definitely be back! read more

Half beer/wine store, half pizza/deli. Great little shop. Good sandwiches, wings, and pizza. Will be back.

Just had their pizza for the first time. Had a beer while we waited for it to be finished. Lots of local breweries and wineries on site to bring home with you. We definitely recommend this place. Service was great and very friendly. read more
