We tried pizza from the Hitching Post six years ago and it was terrible! After reading all the rave reviews we decided to give it another try. Big Mistake! The crust was super thin, rubbery in the center and over cooked on the edges. The cheese was elastic in texture, think of a rubber band. We were really hoping for a better experience but it was actually worse than we remembered. Very disappointing! We will stick with Cartecay Pizza. read more

We found this hidden gem one night while visiting friends who live in Ellijay. They ordered pizza from here and we we're blown away with how great the pizza was. In fact, this pizza is so good that we drive all the way from Jasper to Ellijay just to bring this pizza back home. We ordered 1/2 all meat and 1/2 pepperoni and it was as good as it looks. Pizza is delicious and truly is 5 stars. We just moved to the area and this was our first time trying it. The crust is thin and crispy and the sauce is tasty and just the right amount. The toppings are exceedingly generous and prices are very reasonable. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was due to the wings. They were pretty dreadful. They were soggy and lacked flavor. Essentially, think frozen Tyson wings that you heat up in the oven. Only one other bit of constructive feedback is they are takeout only. I wish they had a place to sit and eat but, they do not. Stopped there to kill time when we couldn't get up to our cabin because of a fallen tree. The pizza looked good from the pictures on yelp and they look and taste even better in person! Come to find out, the nice man that owns and runs the place is the Ellijay mayor. He was beyond hospitable and eager to help us since we were stranded. Super nice people that sit on the top of the hill! It's a package store on one side and a pizza/deli on the other. As soon as I walked in the smell of pizza was amazing!! All fresh ingredients with a super crust! I ordered the works and it was loading with toppings and the crust held it all without bending at all. It's not too thick or too thin. When you have a perfect crust with good sauce and amazing toppings you have a pizza from Hilltop! Ill definitely be back when I'm back in town!
