I was a little disappointed on first impression but ended up being pleased. The shop seems cluttered, especially the furniture area in the back. We didn't get any help (but didn't ask for any.) The gal ringing us up was a little standoffish but not unpleasant. However, the prices are awesome and the product selection is really fun. Lots of cute clothes and I liked the funky attitude reflected in the decor. I'll be back to give them another shot! read more

Hm... I thought for sure I reviewed this place... Originally, I had given it less stars due to the limited selection, but it has definitely come a long ways. The selection is phenomenal, the mix of new stuff and old stuff is great. The style is awesome. The customer service is out of this world. I hadn't been there in a year and they remembered me when I walked in the door. Seriously. They pay good on trade, and I can always find something that rocks. This little shop is simply the best when it comes to kids resale. I love that they specialize in only high-end kids stuff because that's the stuff that lasts. True, they only take better brands, like gymboree, nordstroms, boutique and gap but that's what makes it a great place to shop. I also really appreciate that they post a lot of their merchandise on Facebook. They allow you to purchase over the phone which works wonders since I'm a busy mom with 4 little ones at home. They keep wish lists and call when something comes up that you're looking for. Really, I couldn't ask for something better in a resale shop. Do I wish they would sell ALL of my items? Yes, but I understand that's not being realistic. There's tons of used kids items - clothes, shoes, toys, gear - and when people shop, they want the best. When its not, its hard to sell and changes the reputation of the store. Add to all that they give you the most cash/trade for your items of any kids store I've found in the valley. LOVE this place - and I don't have kids! As a non-mom, I am constantly finding myself out shopping for family and friends who have children even though I don't really know what to buy. Since Hissyfits opened, I have had a much easier time of things. Baby showers and children's birthday parties have been made a thousand times easier because I know I can stop by Hissyfits and will be able to find something fun and funky that folks in my social circle will enjoy (and I will usually be able to get a great deal on it!) The staff is super-friendly and helpful, even when they are busy going through the boxes of merchandise it seems are always coming in. I have brought mom-friends to shop there and I always hear from them that they "just had to go back" because they found such a great (outfit, toy, pair of shoes, etc.) for their little ones. HIssyfits is a jewel in uptown Phx. The owner is super friendly and the employees always make you feel welcome. I am not sure where the other reviews about rude associates are from, I have only ever been welcomed. The clothing is name brands and the pricing is perfect. You can expect to grab a few gap tees from $2.50-$4.00 each, jeans are usually about $6.00 and they they also have some great local homemade items on hand. I usually stop in before a kids birthday party to grab some really cool new shades and a box of unique band aids for a fun gift. They are also great when it comes to consigning your items, they take most name brands that are in good condition. The only issue I have is that the store is a bit cramped and they usually have several bags of items to price and put out near the checkout. Otherwise, Hissyfits rocks! read more

I've been both a customer and consignor for many years. This is a tough review to write, as I don't like to put-down small businesses. After over nine years though, I've had good and bad experiences. Never stellar, never great. At this point, I'm not willing to make the long drive there because of this, and I know others who feel the same. I love the idea of supporting local and family businesses, but I don't find the customer service up to par. I feel like there's a lot to be desired and that can be greatly improved upon. Two issues really stand out...the inconsistent customer service, and the disorganization of intakes. It's too much to really get into, and I'm a super forgiving and patient person. I question how much they value their customers and often feel like they aren't appreciative that we're not only the ones BUYING the items...but also the ones SUPPLYING the items for the store. Consignors (and buyers) are the bread and butter of this place. I've never received a thank-you after dropping off a huge lot for consignment or upon collecting a check. Not once, in nine-plus years. True, some of the employees are friendly. That said, I'm not sure whether I've ever been greeted with a "hello." Too often, many of the employees make you feel like a hassle or an inconvenience. I once had an employee over the phone cut me off mid-sentence and curtly tell me that they were too busy for calls and that I should drive over if I had questions. Wow. Ok...I live a 1/2 hour away, and I should drive over to ask a couple questions? At least they answered the phone, because there was a time that you'd never get a hold of them when calling for a credit check. Once I brought in a bunch of items and noticed that they put them up for sale on Instagram that very same afternoon. "Yay!" I thought as I saw that they sold--and fast! Well, come to find out the items aren't posted on my account. So whose account did they get put on? Whoever it was, lucked out. Maybe nobody's at all? I recall feeling funny that day as I left the store upon drop-off, and they had BOXES of other intakes alongside mine. I had wondered how they wouldn't get mixed up. Nothing was tagged and some items weren't even in a box. And they were all stacked up together. As time went on, my account credit remained about the same as it was before I brought the items in. I have no recourse, nor did I even bother to pursue it, as I know it won't go anywhere. I suppose that's a risk I took. I casually asked an employee about this at one point (before this experience), and I was told, "Things like that do happen." I've also heard of instances where people with the same names have had their accounts mixed up. This really needs to be addressed as I've felt this way numerous times and others have too. Now, I know it's not their job to help carry things in, but boy is the parking lot tough to maneuver when you're dropping off loads of items by yourself and there are no parking spaces in the tiny lot. It's very possible to haul a nice, large item over, struggle to get it into the store, then they have them say they don't have room for it. And back to the car it goes. Sure would be nice if there was a way around this. I've even called prior to coming in to inquire about whether they'd consider a very specific item(s) in excellent condition, only to arrive and have an employee refuse the item(s) for consignment. "We aren't taking *insert item name* at the moment." Or, "We don't have space for that." I've asked about specific brands with tags still on, and have been told "Yes, bring it in!" and then another employee will tell me, "We don't take that brand." On more than one occasion, I've arrived only to find out they decided to close early--unannounced-- that day (keep in mind I live nearly 1/2 hour away)... or that they put a temporary halt on toy intakes as I arrived with a car-load of toys. I've also gone in for payment checks, only to find that a person who can issue one isn't there, and that I must return another time. Seriously. Ugh. Store is super small, but cute. Clothing selection is often decent as long as you don't come during one of their sales or when they're switching seasons. It's a good idea to call ahead as you never know when this is happening until you drive over and find a near-empty store. Toy and baby selection, in my opinion, is limited. But what they do have...is typically fun stuff. Too bad the store isn't larger. At one time the selection was fairly decent, but it seems like they've scaled back to make more space to move around in. I'm sorry Hissyfits, it hurts me to write this. Not once have I complained and I've been nothing but courteous. I've been there countless times over the past nearly-decade and kept coming back and giving chances despite the short-comings. By far the best kids consignment in the city. They hand pick the most unique, stylish clothes. I used to go to Kid 2 Kid but could no longer handle them turning down my high end stuff and selling Target and Walmart crap for the same price as new. You just won't find that stuff at Hissyfits and they actually know good brands, I've also bought amazing handmade pieces and they often have fun new Phoenix based goods (books, totes etc) that make great gifts! read more

The only good thing is the fact that I found a couple items I liked for my daughter. The lady there was incredibly rude and unhelpful. We drove quite a distance to get to this consignment store only to be greeted with dirty looks and a crappy attitude. It was described as a high end consignment .... perhaps I don't realize what high end but 80% of what I found was cat n Jack n not in the greatest condition. Then to make matters worse I wasn't watching the time and apparently they closed n we were harshly greeted with a ahem we are closed . I quickly apologized n tried to lighten the mood n was met with silence. I was going to bring them a large amount of HIGH END clothes for consignment but I'll be taking my business elsewhere. My advice to the lady in the store lower that nose as a bird might shit on it with as high as you have it. Kindness goes a long way and will bring people back. read more

I walked into the store, first off: it was not clean in there! Secondly: the lady who owns the place or works the register was awfully rude and unhelpful. I asked her a couple questions and she seemed annoyed. She has nothing but Target brand items, and it's considered high end psh, yeah right. We've been shopping with Nikki and her staff for several years now. These girls are the best!!! Very efficient, helpful and kind. I always find new treasures at Hissyfits everytime I step through their door. My 3 kids have benifited from the discerning eye of their buyers again and again. They stock cool clothes at great prices from high end lines like Tea Collection, Peek, Crewcuts, the Gap and Janie and Jack -- shoes too are a huge deal here. What toddler ever wears through their shoes? Why pay retail when you can get barely worn Geox, Keens, Lelli Kelly, Converse, etc at under $10? Always something new - a must visit! read more

I wouldn't change a thing about Hissyfits! I love the shabby chic feel the store has and I appreciate that the staff is discriminating with the items they take in for consignment. The store is almost always stuffed to the gills with things and I always find something for my girls that is well within my budget. I like that it is small and packed and not so over staffed that employees are up your rear end trying to sell you stuff when you're on your hunt for the that perfect "it's new to me" deal. I can almost always find some Roxy for my 10 year old and it's her absolute favorite brand....no way would I spend department store prices on that stuff. The condition of the clothes at Hissyfits is always like new and my daughter would rather get three times the Roxy at Hissyfits than just one item at Nordstroms. It's an easy place for me to shop with my 3 year old in tow too. The toys are in the back corner just inviting your child to sit there and explore while you surf the racks. I scored a Barbie Corvette there last year that looked and ran just like new but I paid only a fraction of the original retail price! It's the perfect place to get really great clothes for your kids at prices that you don't feel like you need to encase them in glass so they don't damage it. Everything about the store is original, fun and unique...there's nothing else like Hissyfits. There are definitely regulars there that are greeted by the staff like old friends. oh, sweet hissyfits....how i have loved you. the utopian and communal concept of weirdo moms gathering up their unusual items and bringing them to a central location. a mecca of sorts, abundant with the hard to find, unique and adorbs. i could often splurge on those overpriced baby hunter boots or mini boden cardi-because i was sure that i would get a good credit when i made the pilgrimage to the oasis that was hissyfits. i could rest easy in the knowledge that i could use these credits to purchase other treasures curated by your funky fresh shop gals. they would be working diligently to keep the facebook feed a flowing with updates featuring fantastic frocks and fittings. but then, the unthinkable happened- you were zuckerberged. facebook asked that you pay a fee for using there outlet for business promotion, i have know idea what that fee was-but it must have been a pretty penny because you said "no way". and that was the end of my love affair with hissyfits. now the best goodies are posted on instagram, and store credits are no longer honored for these items. if you want to use your credits, you are limited to the picked over corpses that remain on the racks in-store. recently, someone asked if you accepted credit for instagram and the reply was: "sorry since we have so many new out of state customers we are doing paypal only for IG items. We wont use store credit for them unless the item states "no shipping" or "call to purchase" " tragic. with all the cries to shop local and support local business... preference is being given to people outside of the 602. will they shop the hullabaloo? will they bring in items for you to stock? i will snatch up whatever i can salvage to burn through my remaining credit and i too will peddle my wares on instagram. cash is king after all. queue the break up song. read more

This place has the worst customer service. Not once have I ever been greeted when coming to this store. The owner is the worst of them all. They favor certain people and discriminate aginst the sizeof pregnancy clothes they take. I would never refer anyone there they also over charge for USED clothes. Forgot to mention one worker told some customer that car seats can not have been in n an accident then Whispered but who really knows. ... I've gone to Hissyfits several times for clothing and gear for my two girls. I've found some cute things but generally find them to be more expensive than other children's consignment shops. Yesterday I had the worst experience and will never return! Halfway to the Children's Museum I realized in my rush to get out the door I'd forgotten my 1 year old's shoes (I know who does that?!). It was several minutes before they closed, I called to verify the time and plead my case and was told "We close at 5". Great I thought, I'll get there with just enough time to get shoes and continue on, WRONG! As I rushed to the door with my two children I was told, "we're closed" I explained the situation, and I would pay cash, and take only a minute (which technically I had), and literally begged! NOPE! Luckily the people at Baby Bloomers (a mile down the road) were far kinder and understanding. read more

My daughter (Ocean, age 4) and I have a reward system going. When she earns all her stickers she gets to pick a place to go shop for 1 thing. She has chosen Hissyfits 4 out of the 5 times so far. They have a book shelf that's NOT full of only Barbie and princess crap. Ocean chooses toys like binoculars and books that aren't typically highlighted in average toy stores. She also is able to play with some of the things while I do the clothes shopping. The clothing at Hissyfits is the coolest. We get stopped when out and about to ask about her skull skirts and flamingo shoes. And the maternity stuff makes me want to get myself knock up!! haha From the second I walk in the door I am greeted with a smile and so is Ocean. The super friendly and funny staff talk to us and make suggestions based on our past purchases an my kid's personality. The shop is ALWAYS having additional sales here and there and they now have a stamp card. But even without the sales, the prices are very reasonable. We got a pair of ridiculously cute pajamas that retail at 95 bucks *gag* for less than 15. Target's children's section has suffered a great loss since Hissyfits opened. (speculation) This store has a true community feeling, very welcoming. I would make the drive to Hissyfits even if I didn't live right around the corner! Hooray, Hissyfits!! read more

I've been shopping here since I was pregnant with my now 5 1/2 year old. Trendy clothes in great brands, fun little gifts, AWESOME gear. I have never sold here I think because if I remember correctly they do more a traditional consignment process where you get paid once it's sold. I prefer to sell at Kid to Kid and Once Upon a Child because I'm paid up front. Anyway, in close to 6 years every time I check out they remind me that there are no returns. In fact pretty much all kids resale/consignment shops hold that same policy so I'm not sure why someone would be shocked they couldn't turn around and return an item even if they just bought it The store is a 100% local business and the owner has always been awesome. I live in Ahwatukee now and still follow them on Facebook and make the drive to purchase there. read more

(I am writing this using my husband's account) I've been to Hissyfits a few times, and always find something cute for my baby boy that is worth buying. I've only looked at the infant clothes, so I don't know anything about the kids' clothes. They're very selective about the brands they take here, so the clothes are mostly from nicer stores. I've heard them tell people they won't take any Carter's clothes, unless they're really cute. They have lots of Gymboree, Baby Gap, Polo RL, H&M. There's not much crawl-around-the-house clothes, so if you're looking for baby basics, this may not be the place. One BIG problem I have with this place though is the service. The check-out counter is extremely cluttered (as is the rest of the place) and if you're just trying to make a quick purchase, good luck. If there's anyone in front of you in line and they're doing anything but plain buying (like checking on merchandise they have for sale or collecting cash from their sold items) it will take forever. There's no sense of urgency to get to the next customer, they just take their time. I almost always leave in a bad mood because of this. They probably don't like me because when I finally get to the front of the line (after debating over and over whether I should just leave) I probably have a pissed off look on my face...and I'm a really friendly person! To sum it up, I will return because I like the clothes, but will do so grudgingly. read more

I have been shopping at this Phoenix location for years. I will continue to shop here because I find things here from time to time that I cannot find anywhere else. That being said, most of the staff are too cool to be welcoming. I don't blame them, the owner expects nothing better of them. In fact, in my 40- 50 visits to the store I can count on my fingers how many times she has even said hello when I have walked in. I have never frequented a store so often and not been remembered by name, or face. Someday my loyalty to the product will be won out by some other establishment who values my patronage. I have been a fan of this store since it opened. I was an Aunt long before I was a mom and stopped into their grand opening for my nieces. I miss an early employee who remembered me and my children so much she was surprised I was looking at girl items when I have two boys. It might be nice to receive this type of service again, early customers were spoiled by her. :-) Some items can be a bit overpriced but still cheaper than new; and let's face it, as soon as you buy a new item and wash it once, IT'S USED! I have noticed Customer Service at both stores have improved, thank you for this. I still recommend all my family and friends to Hissyfits and pray they receive great service as well. I was moved to write this review because I called today and the person who answered the phone took the time to look through the racks and describe to me over the phone the types and sizes of Halloween costumes that were on the racks. I will say, you are much better off shopping here if you have girls, not boys. The pink and puffy dresses and other clothing items greatly out weight the boys section. I have a boy, and have never bought from here, just traded in some items of his. I think they are more than fair on the percentage the customer gets. The store is clean cute and centrally located. The only thing that may make people nervous is that when they agree to take the item, you arnt told what they will list it at. So, you're putting your trust in the staff that they arnt pricing it for pennies. My first sale was a pair of kids converse, that they sold for 20, I received 9 cash, instead of the trade option. If you are willing to part with the items for an unknown purchase amount, and wait until they sell to get your cash, I definitely recommend this charming little spot!! read more

Went to Hissyfits for the first time last week, they don't have as much merchandise as once upon a child but they did have some cute items. My one recommendation is being better about grouping the infant sizes, I was looking for 9 month outfits that I found in 12 or 18 month section. read more

I fell in love the moment I walked in. Only the most stylish children's clothes are allowed here! I wanted everything. There is definitely more for girls than boys, but still a substantial amount to choose from. Really nice and hip staff! I bought a Black & Green Onsey saying "I listen to The Clash with my Daddy" at HissyFits. It"s the one place I know to expect cool Second Hand baby clothes to be sold other than a street fair booth. So yeah that Onsey was super cool but I gave it away in a month when he grew. Tried HissyFits a few more times but Baby Bloomers is just down the street It's less messy and dirty feeling than HissyFits. It didnt help that the females running the store. I tried HissyFits a few more times and the workers made me feel like I was interrupting. Any Stuff I I sorta wanted was probably priced well for how cool it was but I was getting new stuff at Target and Wal Mart [sorry cool people} for the same price.. Besides, its a baby so it doesnt care. So yeah, HissyFits is too cool for its own good, The story is messy, crowded and smells dirty.
