We have passed by Thrift to Thrive many times and always remarked that we needed to stop in one…read moreday. The day finally came last weekend, but we left feeling somewhat disappointed! I was initially taken aback by the entry of the shop. They had a coffee shop and a large sitting area. I also saw stairs, so I assumed this would be a multi-level thrifting experience. We moseyed around the area just past the coffee shop and found lots and lots of glassware. Dare I say too much glassware? The linens and trinkets sections were disheveled with a handful of visibly broken items sitting on the shelves. The main area of the shop was more visually pleasing and was a bit more organized, but we remained underwhelmed. The biggest disappointment, however, was that the upstairs was restricted to employee access only. We were so disappointed that there weren't more thrifty treasures to be uncovered. The exterior of this shop was deceiving as we thought it would be massive, but it was actually quite small. Bummer!

The dresses are organized by color rather than size which is great as women's sizing varies so much, and they had a great selection. There was a lot of furniture as well, and records!

I did have one time I went in there and this is why I'm deducting a single star. I asked them if there was any way they could lower the price of a Montana bag that was marked at retail price on Amazon. He said that he could not, and that the prices are set in stone once they go out and that they would have to pull it back and give a note saying that it is overpriced. That did make me laugh. On the other hand, I have found wonderful deals. I got my husband an Apple Watch there for only $45 wowser that was good. Then because I have noticed that a lot of of the petite outfits for girls who are small with big chest, which would be me. You can find some really pretty outfits that don't look like Mormon clothes. I can actually say that they push you to change your wardrobe when you're part of the church. That's a positive for me because I want don't care if someone dislikes the way I dress and two they have really good brands for reasonable prices. I really hope they stay reasonable because they have so many clothes to look through that if they up their prices, it's just going to make it to where people are going to stop shopping there. I went there determine to find new clothes for my changing body because I went from a size 16. I was a big girl too a size 4 and I needed new clothes. I got myself a whole new wardrobe dresses skirts shirt, shirts, tank tops vest and even some new workout clothes for about $95 which when I say I got a lot of clothes, I got a lot of clothes not all in the same time but I kept receipts. I added up and I spent $95 on clothes. Now on my children's book collection two dollars for heart covers and one dollar for soft covers. You can't beat that. Now, for the people who work there, I feel really bad for them because many of them can't speak English or handicap or speak very little English, and also not always all there in the head. I have noticed going in there very often in the morning that the blue aprons are treated like trash by the managers. Yes I have gone there so often that I have noticed a routine. If you're looking to work there, please please remember that you are a human and you deserve to be treated with respect. For this being run by a church, I know that they treat people wrong and it's sad.

I found myself thinking the prices were a little high (considering they get these items for free). Truthfully, the half priced Monday prices are what I think of when I think "thrift store." I get it's a new economy now a days, but geez. As a teenager, seeing some of these fast fashion items (tank tops specifically) priced at $6 or $7 doesn't make sense. The only other thing about this location, which isn't a big deal, is that if you have an issue that takes more than one minute of the checkout employees time, you will be put last. I informed the employee I needed help with an exchange and as she was helping me she kept leaving to assist other people with assorted issues. I get it, it's busy and you have other customers, but taking the time to assist me would've cut the time it took in half. I was left with my fussy baby to stand and wait while she continued to leave out of no where. I feel bad as she didn't have back up to assist, so nothing against the employee. Just something to note.

Savers is a store where people are encouraged to browse for long periods of time, yet customers are…read moreDENIED restroom access. Especially store at 35th ave & Bell Rd. I've been shopping at Savers for YEARS, but one thing that continues to frustrate me is the restroom policy. Before COVID, customers had access to restrooms. Then it became a code system, then limited access for certain groups (elderly/kids/disabilities), and now customers are completely DENIED access. It's been years since the pandemic, and I don't understand why this has become permanent. Many shoppers spend an hour or MORE in the store. Savers serves a lot of seniors, families with young children, and people with medical conditions who may need restroom access unexpectedly. To make matters worse, there are often no nearby public restrooms available. Because of this policy, I RARELY shop here anymore. I have a medical condition where randomly I have to go to the bathroom unexpectedly. Before COVID, I was a WEEKLY customer. It's disappointing that a store that ENCOURAGES customers to spend time browsing no longer provides access to such a basic necessity. I hope management reconsiders this policy and puts customers first. I am very inclined to File an ADA Access Complaint, write a letter to Savers Corporate Office AND email District/Regional Managers.
