Do not hire this contractor if you value your time, money, or sanity…read more The work quality itself seemed fine, but that's where the good news ends. We had a signed contract for $3,300 in labor to complete a full bathroom remodel in two weeks, with a $50/day penalty for delays and clear availability windows (no Sundays). Before the ink was even dry, he demanded the first payment of $1,100 -- directly contradicting the payment schedule we both signed. His excuse was that he was tired and hadn't read the contract. He then threatened to walk if I didn't pay immediately, so I did. Work progressed okay until it came time to tile. His sub was unavailable for several days with no updates. When he finally got back to me, he said his tile guy could come Saturday and finish Sunday -- a day I explicitly excluded in our contract. After I pointed that out: complete silence. No response to calls or texts. He simply vanished, leaving me with a half-finished bathroom and $1,100 out of pocket, with no explanation of what that payment actually covered. He decided on his own what portion of the work justified that payment and walked away without a word. This is not someone who honors agreements. If you're considering hiring him, make sure you're okay with the possibility of being left with an unfinished job and no recourse.

Mitch's business had all 5 star reviews and he was the first to respond with an agreeable quote so we booked his services. He arrived a couple hours early but was very understanding when I asked if he could return at the agreed upon time so we could be ready for the visit. First, he helped hang the art piece we recently bought at the Oddities and Curiosities expo and wanted to make sure it was hung properly. The wall space we wanted to hang the art piece in did not have a stud, but Mitch had other supplies that would support the weight of it securely. It was hung perfectly and looks great in the space. Next he took a look at another project we had to insulate one of our outside doors. This door is very warped by being exposed to the elements and he was honest in saying aside from replacing the door, any other fix would be more temporary. He gave us advice on what to buy and how to insulate the door ourselves. Had we had the insulation strips he could have included this in his tasks but we only had our old insulation because we were not sure what insulating the door would entail. There is a minimum charge of $85 for any task but confirm when you book. It will cost less if you can pay cash or send the money through Zelle. Mitch was professional and polite the entire experience. I would definitely book him again for future projects if needed.

The owner, David, even stopped by to see how everything was progressing. The second time (subfloor replacement and tile work in rental property) I had a "project manager", Chris, who really just moved the payment process along. He never came to the job site to check on the worker, progression of job, or quality of work. So, not really a true project manger. The worker came, accommodated not working once tenant was home which was appreciated, was friendly, and completed the job. Tenant did report that once the work was done, the job site was not left as clean as it could have been. Tenant reported hardened grout left on outside of tub and door handle, dried blood in tub, sink left dirty, worker did not vacuum where work was completed, and mortar on front doorstep. Chris did offer to send the worker back but tenant had already cleaned up. Cost was at the midpoint of all the bids I received and seemed fair Overall, I probably won't use them again on such an extensive job. Would consider them for smaller jobs.

He had found two breakers in our breaker box in the home that had at one point sparked and caused heat damage to the inside of our breaker box. He replaced those two large breakers, then he also made sure every fire alarm in the house was replaced with a new 10-year battery alarm!! I don't like headaches and that saved me a big five of them!! lol I thought the company has got a great technician with this guy. Then I found out he was the owner! Most owners of companies don't act like they are service technicians! I had no idea and was very impressed with the way he conducted himself, and in doing his business. In addition, we discovered a plug in a bathroom would occasionally lose power. In both cases, the situation would be resolved by resetting a GFCI plug in the garage. I was concerned that I may have damaged the wiring when I put up my pegboard or shelves on the wall. I looked around for an electrician, and yesterday I chose NES Electric. I'm so glad I did. It was easy to schedule an appointment and today Jason came over and fixed me up. I was impressed that he explained the many things that could be causing the problem. He clearly explained the many options and the downsides to each. I finally decided to follow his advice; first, he troubleshot the wiring, and determined I hadn't damaged the wires. What a relief. Then he replaced the GFCI plug, and then replaced the box and plug for the irrigation system. Based on his comments as he worked (I was asking him a lot of questions, so it took him a while), I expected a $300 bill. But at the end, it turned out to be a whole lot less. And, he said I had a one-year warrantee. What else can ask for ? good work, clear explanations of causes and a more than fair price. I'm keeping their phone number close to hand. Thanks Jason.

Of course this came to a head a little after 5:30 pm when you would think all the service techs would have called it a day. I posted my emergency on Yelp, and Jason replied within a minute to ask a few questions and let me know he could be here within the hour. He made it here in 30 minutes. This is the service of yesteryear when it meant something to commit to the very best. Jason explained thoroughly how these breakers can take a turn and fail when not properly maintained. (In our case we had some screws that were loose, causing the intermittent flow to tax the breaker) We had used our home warranty service to have an AC guy look at the problem previously (before the breaker completely failed) and he had completely misdiagnosed the problem. Beware using "home shield" vendors, as they are paid very little and will fit the repair with what profits them the most! It was quite a fiasco until NES came out and solved it in a snap.
