Because of high water pressure, my water heater's valve failed. Thinking it was a problem with the…read morewater heater, I turned off its water source and called my insurance company, who recommended Zeus Plumbing. Their technician, Raul, arrived and turned the water back on. He saw there was no runoff and explained that the issue likely resulted from a water pressure spike. He measured my line at 110 psi, confirmed water pressure was a concern, and pointed out that the water pressure valve regulator needed to be replaced. Raul then called the insurance company. In his initial report, he only mentioned that the failure was due to high water pressure, but he did not mention the faulty pressure valve regulator, resulting in my claim being denied. After I contacted the insurance company to explain, they reopened the claim so Raul could submit an amended report. This time, he included the pressure valve regulator but claimed that its failure was due to "abnormal" water pressure from the water district. Because he described it as "abnormal," my claim was denied again. I called the San Antonio Water System and confirmed the local pressure goes up to 150 psi, which is why a regulator is necessary, but my Watts valve is rated up to 300 psi. The city's water pressure is not "abnormal"--the regulator was simply faulty. Raul's failure to report the facts clearly and accurately--in both his initial and amended reports--shows a lack of prudence and professional responsibility. His actions led to my claim being denied twice. Why did Raul act as the expert on how SAWS manages its water pressure systems? What qualifies him to make such definitive judgments about city infrastructure? Homeowners expect technicians and their companies to provide fair, honest assessments that truly help resolve issues, not make the process harder.

In addition, we discovered a plug in a bathroom would occasionally lose power. In both cases, the situation would be resolved by resetting a GFCI plug in the garage. I was concerned that I may have damaged the wiring when I put up my pegboard or shelves on the wall. I looked around for an electrician, and yesterday I chose NES Electric. I'm so glad I did. It was easy to schedule an appointment and today Jason came over and fixed me up. I was impressed that he explained the many things that could be causing the problem. He clearly explained the many options and the downsides to each. I finally decided to follow his advice; first, he troubleshot the wiring, and determined I hadn't damaged the wires. What a relief. Then he replaced the GFCI plug, and then replaced the box and plug for the irrigation system. Based on his comments as he worked (I was asking him a lot of questions, so it took him a while), I expected a $300 bill. But at the end, it turned out to be a whole lot less. And, he said I had a one-year warrantee. What else can ask for ? good work, clear explanations of causes and a more than fair price. I'm keeping their phone number close to hand. Thanks Jason.

Of course this came to a head a little after 5:30 pm when you would think all the service techs would have called it a day. I posted my emergency on Yelp, and Jason replied within a minute to ask a few questions and let me know he could be here within the hour. He made it here in 30 minutes. This is the service of yesteryear when it meant something to commit to the very best. Jason explained thoroughly how these breakers can take a turn and fail when not properly maintained. (In our case we had some screws that were loose, causing the intermittent flow to tax the breaker) We had used our home warranty service to have an AC guy look at the problem previously (before the breaker completely failed) and he had completely misdiagnosed the problem. Beware using "home shield" vendors, as they are paid very little and will fit the repair with what profits them the most! It was quite a fiasco until NES came out and solved it in a snap.

For a second opinion, I took the Bryco recommendation from a few neighbors and got a quote that was definitely reasonable. They had to dig a huge tunnel under my home and the process took a bit longer due to all the rain that year, but were more than professional and kept us updated constantly and came out every day to check the status to see if they were able to work on it. They even worked on it when it was raining and all! Long story short, turned out, they had to replace all plumbing under my slab ! After the great customer service, price and professionalism, I knew I would use them again if another problem ever arose. Well, today I encountered another issue, and I immediately called Bryco. They were at my house within 5 hours and fixed the problem in 3 hours! They were again, extremely nice, professional, and personable. In fact, one of the guys (I think his name is Ryan) told me that he was one of the guys who helped fix the pipes the first time on my home and remembers the house and the job! It's great to know that Bryco values their employees so they can continue to provide excellent, personal service. 10/10 stars Bryco! I'd recommend y'all to anyone I know. Thank you for fixing my home P.s. Ryan also gave me a tip on how to get my extremely high water bill reviewed by SAWS and possibly taken care of. THANK YOU!

They let me know that If I supplied the water heater, they could install it for approximately $700.00 - but it was obvious that I wasn't in a position to pick up a water heater on my own. They returned with a Rheem (approx retail cost $750.00), which didn't fit on the elevated base correctly - part of the heater now hangs over the edge. The job was completed in two and a half hours. When I calculated the costs of the job, I assigned $1,000.00 to parts and supplies, which left a $1,425.00 labor cost. For a two-and-half-hour job (which included the time spent picking up a water heater), the hourly labor cost was $570.00 for both Alfred & Tobie, or $285.00 an hour each. IMO, the costs were excessive and I felt that I was taken advantage of due to the situation. I contacted Bryco, but I never heard from them.
