I hired Danny Hipps (Hipps Drywall) through HOCOA - on July 24 and he said he could start a paint and drywall patch job the following Monday (July 30) to get my house ready to sell. Some of the rooms needed paint matching, which he said would be no problem and he would just buy a quart for those rooms and I'd reimburse him for paint later. He said the job would take 2-3 days at the most. I made sure to ask him if he completed his jobs before starting another one and he said yes because we've had this problem with contractors in the past and projects drag on and on. In this case, time is money since I'm waiting on him to get my house on the market. At the end of the week, I stopped by the house to see how it turned out and there had been almost nothing done. I contacted him right away and asked him why there was a delay and he said he had gotten tied up on another job and would finish over the weekend. When I went by the next week, there still had been no progress, so he immediately sub contracted out the job and had a painter come over and paint a few of the rooms with the paint that I had there, however, he still had not purchased the paint for the bathrooms and laundry room nail holes. Again, he promised this final time that this would all be completed by last Friday, Aug 10, so that I could list the house the following Monday. So, based on his word, I actually met the realtor and photographer at the house yesterday expecting everything to be ready for us to move forward and we were greatly disappointed to find areas still taped off, debrise all over the floors, basically, nothing completed since his painter was there the previous week. This left me in a huge pickle. I contacted him and let him know that I was now going to have to rush and complete the work myself in order to make my timeline since I clearly could not count on him. He was very apologetic and tried to blaim his painter subcontractor saying that he thought he had completed the job but that didn't fly with me since I knew he hadn't done the texturing nor had he purchased the other paint yet. So, I went and bought the paint based on his swatch he said he cut out of the drywall only to find out it didn't match at all, so now I have to paint 3 bathrooms and a laundry room. I paid him a 10% deposit but now he's coming after me for work that I did not sign off on. Plus, I had to clean up his mess! Why is it so tough to find a contractor who will do what they say they will do when you hire them???? This is why the contractors state licensing board and BBB are so busy. I would not hire either one of these companies because neither one wanted to take responsibility for over commiting, being unreliable and lack.of integrity. And they tried to blaim me for blowing them off yesterday and not communicating when all I was doing was working like crazy to get the job completed like they should have been doing all along. Again, stay away from both companies. I would hope there are safer choices out there. read more

Daniel Hipps repaired two large holes left behind by a plumber. He was not the cheapest and was not the most expensive. His work is great. We cannot tell where the holes were. Perfect job of patching and texturing. Very clean, laid down plastic over the entire area before working. Will use again if I ever need a repair. Highly recommended and a great job. If you have drywall that needs to be repaired and texture that needs to be matched, Danny Hipps is your guy. His work is excellent and he it's a really nice guy you can trust to have in your house. He blocks off the rest of the house from where he is working and cleans up his area each day before he leaves. Years ago, Danny skillfully repaired several places in our ceiling.
