I purchased 2 tops and because they both were defective with rips, I went to store to return them less than 24 hours from when I bought them. Since I had looked at their merchandise the night before, there were no items my size that I liked to replace the ones I had bought. I was told they wouldn't refund my credit card. To make things worse, I never received the email receipt and was not told of their return policy which is store credit only. The young lady working there was extremely nice but could not give me refund even after discussing it with the store owner. I spoke with a very condescending owner who was extremely NOT customer friendly. I was very polite throughout the whole process. While I was outside the store speaking to my credit card company about this, the owner called the police on me and told them that I threatened to throw a brick through their window. I felt like a criminal. The store clerk verified to the police officer that I never made those threats and that all I wanted was a refund for ripped items I did not want. I now have to go to court to dispute something that I had no fault in. This is a HORRIBLE place to shop that is not customer friendly in any way. I hope the store clerk that was there finds a better place to work. I will NEVER shop there or any of their other stores again!!!

I've wanted to write this review for some time now but was hesitant because I LOVE MARCOS and I…read moredon't want to appear like I'm bashing the place. I'm writing this in hopes that the owner will read it and perhaps consider making some changes. I was born in 1971 and raised in Pequannock so of course Marcos was a huge part of my childhood. That being said, the interrior of the store is not much different than it was when I was a child. I'm a sucker for nostalgia and I love everything retro but...all the miss matched grungy utility mats on the floor are sad. The tattered old ugly awnings on the outside are sad. The boring window displays are sad. The woman who works behind the counter is sad and not very friendly. You work in a toy store for crying out loud It's not The Gulog! The staff in general is just MEH and don't seem very interested in helping anyone. I'm a huge advocate of supporting local business so paying a bit more is fine by me. I do all my toy and gift shopping here and I stop in when I need a break from the cruel hard world. I walk the isles and reminisce about a simpler place in time when I had not a single care in the world. I leave with a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. I don't want the place to change per se it just needs a few tweaks here and there. Fix up the outside for a more pleasing and welcoming appearance. Dress up the window displays for the seasons. Replace the darn awnings for crying out loud. Don't change the sign because it's a staple, just fix it up a little. Zhuzh the place up! Your business would improve if the overall experience was happier, more pleasing and inviting. How about introducing some kid friendly experiences like a story time, Lego and Barbie workshops, craft workshops use your imagination! You have the space if you just rearranged a little. You're smack dab in the middle of a wealthy town, people will come and they will pay. Give people a reason to shop there instead of at Amazon or the big box stores. All the long time residents have wonderful memories of Marcos and I'm sure they would love to see a facelift! We all have memories of riding bikes to Marcos with a few bucks in our pockets to find some necessary treasure. Heck, I'll do your window displays for FREE If you want! Every time I drive by or come in to the store I have a million ideas as to how it could be improved. I always say "if I owned that store I'd do this or I'd do that". I say this all with LOVE and I LOVE this store so much and I wish you many many more years of succes!

Prices I think are on par for what you would pay at any other *non*-big-box store.. and I've never seen anything 'on sale' but I think the selection of items is a big deal. There is a ton in Marco's that I've never seen in those aformentioned big-box-stores. Bonus: for the grownups - there is a section of gifts, cards, ornaments, painted wine glasses, foods/candy, etc. The seasonal section when you walk in the store is always so good. You really could just get lost in this store - there's so much stuff. Kept back a star bc for the few/random times I've been in the store (and another reviewer mentions this too) no one has ever come up to ask if I needed help finding anything. It's not a big deal.. but the staff is always just at the front desk/counter, so I guess I know where to go IF I did need help.. The couple of times I did interact at the counter the staff was very eh. Not super engaging.. which seems strange/slightly sad for a store stocked with 75% toys. The lack of engagement is something I'm willing to overlook bc the stock/variety and volume of toys is just so good.

I placed an order last week (12/9) and reached out asking about the status of my order on (12/13) after not seeing any changes to my shipments status online. Without a doubt, 10/10 on communication. The item I purchased was also in immaculate condition, even the box was flawless after shipping across the country. The price for my item was also below what competitors were charging for the specific piece. This is proof to me they care about their business and customers. These people are incredible. Unless you're apparently a local and/or just flat out lucky, taking time out of your life to come…read morehere isn't worth it at all. Full disclosure - I never made it inside the store. I wanted to come here and probably buy some stuff. I really did. But this place apparently likes to open when they feel like it. I live about 90 minutes away from this place and on two different occasions, I was to be in the area as it was. Twice I made it a point to come here during advertised business hours and TWICE this place was closed during those same advertised business hours. Thankfully I was already in the area doing other things anyway, but what terrible business practices and what a waste of time to try to come here. Unsure of the reasons they were closed during their business hours either time - whether it was because the owner didn't want to work, couldn't get out of bed, decided to be lazy, has absolutely zero business acumen, or whatnot. Who knows. On their website, social media, Google, and on their own answering machine when I've called, they claim the same hours/days - yet, they fail to be open during those select times. I'm fair and if something were to have come up - twice - where they couldn't open or didn't want to for whatever reason, I'm understanding. But to not even update their own answering machine or anywhere else is unacceptable. Perhaps I'm unlucky and both times I was there, they decided they didn't want to open on those days and during their advertised business hours - or perhaps they're just poor at running a business. I've never had this issue with any other business before (whether they're similar or not), so the fault has to lie with the owner. It's a shame too, because from what I've seen it looks like a nice place. The owner seems like a nice guy. It was a place I was looking forward to trying out. But they aren't remotely the only place around that sells the same type of stuff and I'm very lucky in my travels/searches to find other similar stores that know how to run a business. And those places (or any other like it that I find) will continue to get my business, whereas this place will not. Ever. I know I'm in the minority as they seem to have a lot of fans - good for those people. I don't wish ill will despite their poor business practices. I really hate having to write a negative review, but coming here twice in good faith only for the store to be closed with absolutely zero signage or indication as to why or that they would even be closed in the first place during advertised business hours is completely unacceptable for me. It would be unacceptable for just about any other type of business, but somehow this place has just lucked out. I can only suggest if you're local, you can try your luck. If you're coming from far away, then I'd make sure you have alternate or other plans because this place is completely unreliable to be open during the times they claim they are. If I came all the way here solely for this place, I'd have been livid. As of now, it's just an annoying inconvenience and I'm thankful I had other places to go. I'll just continue to give business to similar stores that actually know how to run a business and know how to open during their advertised times. I tried this place twice in good faith - there will never be a third attempt.

I thought I lucked out because it seemed like a 'cheap sport' (especially after having to buy full lacrosse kits back in the day) - what do you need besides what you already have, right? Wrong. Not only do you need top of the line kicks but you can only really get 'x' amount of miles on them before they're considered 'done' (even if they don't look bad/old/used to the untrained eye). Which is why/how we found Fleet Feet.
