I love Fish and Chips so I had to check out HipHop as soon as I saw it had opened. I was a little turned off when I entered as it's a no nonsense fast food place with little frills. Even though it's a new place, the dining room was dingy and unappealing. But you have to look past that and try the food. I had the fried Tilapia and chips, which came with cole slaw. The meal was excellent. The fish was perfectly cooked, light and flaky. Not greasy at all. The whole meal was a little salty but not enough to spoil the taste. The fries and cole slaw were equally tasty. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my meal and will definitely return.

This place really surprised me with the quality and amount of food I got for the price. I can definitely say the chicken tenders are all white meat and each one is large. They made them fresh which was a plus..no old dry chicken here! The chicken is seasoned well (tad salty) moist and tender. Definitely recommend. I also got the fries which was also a huge portion. The fries have some seasoning on them but I liked it and I normally don't like seasoned fries unless it's Old Bay seasoning. Overall for 2 meals we paid just about $20. My kind of place...quality food, large portions and delicious! One meal could actually feed 2 people. I f you try this place I recommend you each get a different meal and share (chicken/tilapia). The food is delicious and not expensive & they do have tilapia for those not wanting chicken & each meal comes with coleslaw as well. Definitely going back! 5/5 food quality, taste, 5/5 quantity of food 5/5 for price ($)

Yum!!! We stopped in the other night and grabbed some carryout. You can't beat the two breast/fries,/coleslaw deal but I wanted to try some fish. I got the combo of tilapia and a chicken breast. The fish filet was huge! All of the food was light and crispy and practically grease less. The fries don't hold up well for carryout but that doesn't matter to me as I'm not a fry person. The coleslaw is tasty and we love their potato salad. This location just opened, so glad there is now one available on this side of town so I don't have to trek to Towson!

They will try to hustle you

Good food, reasonable prices. Very nice selection and good service. The chicken is crispy and flavorful, the shrimp is really good too.

This place deserves at least 10+ stars! After looking at the…read morelocal Yelp Collection, I said, "Hey," this 1 is nearby, let's go, and so we did. They have a steady flow of customers, many regulars, and of course passersby who see the cars in the lot. Many parked cars mean good food, and this turned out to be a treat. Go up the steps and see the basic menu clearly posted with prices, order at the screened window. Cash discount, but they do take cards and offer a military discount. The orders are prepared as given, and all is fresh. My husband wanted the 2 sausage sub...10", green peppers, and fried onions. It was slightly spicy-Italian sausage. This was the combo for about $15, which comes with fresh cut fries and a soft drink. They were kind enough to give a free refill of Pepsi products. He loved it and half came home. Oops, they forgot the fries, so I went back, and they made them up. I got the Pit beef, rare, raw onions, and horseradish on the side in a little cup. Huge and delicious. I melted into pit beef lala land. Then the daydream began, we ate at a picnic table out front, devouring the fries and watching the busy world go by. Time paused for us. Condiments, many of them, are available on a high bench opposite the order window. Yes, even malt vinegar for your fries! We will definitely be back.

After being denied water at CAVA next door (the only location to do that of maybe 10 locations I've…read morebeen to before), I went next door to El Gran Pollo. I ordered 1/4 chicken white, plaintains, & yuca fries, which was about $15, which is a little high compared with some other places, but I was going with what was convenient in this shopping center as I was pretty unfamiliar with restaurants in the area. Incredibly, the cashier said we have bottled water for sale. I explained what happened at CAVA, and that it would be incredible if 2 restaurants in this shopping center gets 1-star on Yelp because they denied me water (I saw this CAVA next door was only my 26th 1-star ever, so quite rare percentage wise, less than 4% of my Yelp reviews). And also said that in addition to the 1-star, you aren't getting a dime from me from the food you made. The cashier was smart and said that I could have a bottled water. However, if their normal policy is denying water, this is why they don't get 4 but 3-stars. Food was pretty good. I've had some better Peruvian chicken places, but it was solid, above average overall. Sides were solid too. Portion size of the chicken was kind of small too. Considering their normal policy is no courtesy cup of water but gave me the bottled water only because I threatened no business & bad Yelp review, they got my one pre-tax sale of about $15 (which should've been about $13 or so), but I wouldn't return here.

If you're talking Baltimore pit beef, Chaps Pit Beef has been a staple for years, and after coming here for over a decade, I can confidently say it still delivers every single time. Their new location, just a stone's throw from the original humble shack, is a huge upgrade. You get the same iconic food, but now with a much larger dining room that actually makes it easy to bring a group without fighting for space. It's the best of both worlds. Same old school flavor with a more comfortable setup. On my most recent visit, I stuck with my go to. A loaded hoagie absolutely packed with pit beef, corned beef, sausage, and turkey. It's massive, messy in the best way, and exactly what you want when you're craving something unapologetically Baltimore. I paired it with a large order of fries, which were piled high and perfect for sharing. Decided to switch it up a bit and try the Holy Cod fish sandwich too, and that ended up being a sleeper hit. Huge portion of crispy fried cod, topped with fresh coleslaw on a soft bun. Not something you usually go to Chaps for, but honestly worth ordering. Everything came out crazy fast, which is always impressive considering how busy they can get. Quick stop at the condiment bar is a must. Load up on the free pickles, onions, Carolina Gold mustard, and that tiger sauce. The horseradish and mayo combo just hits different on pit beef. Bottom line, Chaps might not be a hidden gem anymore, but it doesn't need to be. It still outperforms most spots in the pit beef game and continues to be one of the best sandwiches you can get in Baltimore.

It didn't even have the smell or feel of a proper pit beef place. Customer service also needs improvement. The cashier taking our order seemed more focused on watching the baseball game on TV than helping customers. It might be worth turning the TV off near the counter so staff can give customers the attention and service they deserve. Overall, not a great experience.
