All foods we ordered weee so delicious!! We ordered too much foods. Butter chicken was very creamy and sweet. Himalayan vi was very flavorful and good amount of spices. People work there were nice. They do Military discount which is nice There was a small TV. It showed Indian TV or movie but I didn't hear anything. It may no sound. It is a casual restaurant. I recommend this place.

Family dinner but they didn't want to do family style. Personally, this is a perfect place for family style. Lots of items ordered but pics are of the garlic cilantro naan, sweet naan, goat curry, chai, and mulligatawny soup. They also give you a cup of lentil soup with each main dish. The lentil soup was tasty but on a bit of the watery side. The mulligatawny soup, chicken and lentils, was delicious. I just wish they didn't use precooked chicken from the tandoor oven. The savory naan could've used just a tad more time in the oven. What surprised me was the sweet naan. It made for a nice dessert too at the end of the meal. My hubby put some raita on it and liked that combo. Their chicken monos were nicely seasoned and juicy. They give you some Himalayan sauce to go with it, gave it a nice little tang. My hubby's goat curry was medium spicy and it had a good little kick. The only thing about goat is you are contending with lots of bones. It was a cool evening so I was excited to have their chai. Unfortunately, it was watery and not very spicy at all. I love a real chai with a good kick to it. We will go again and I will probably try a lamb dish next time.

Has a nice ambience and kind employees. I ordered the Butter Chicken and Mulligatawny Soup with a side of garlic naan and it was absolutely delicious and had great taste. We were so hungry we forgot to take a picture before we devoured the meal but I assure you it all looked amazing

Very good and tasteful food, definitely tastes of high quality, recommend to anyone trying to try south asian cuisine. Definitely a good place to try it. Would love to come back, and I will. Staff very friendly and nice aswell. Seating feels comfortable and cozy, overall recommend this place a l

I left a $20 tip asked for their go to meal, I could care less about the price dude gives me this maybe because he didn't like me.

Why be weird how's this a meal it's sauce in 6 oz of chicken. Weird customer service, go somewhere else, it taste like they added tomato sauce.

I was looking for Indian food closer to the house and found this spot off of Broadway. Lots of stars but another yelp head scratcher. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Chicken tikka masala is pretty basic, I know. Ordered it x2. One spicy and one mild. Luck for me they were equally spiced and offered no heat or flavor. Consistency is key! The tandoori was actually decent, but due to inflation...you'll pay 26 dollars for 3 shrimp, 2 pieces of chicken breast and 1 piece of lamb. Lots of veggies though. The best part was the complete rip off that is the 911 sauce. $3.50 for a tiny sauce that was neither hot nor flavorful. This place is a no go and no thank you.

Nothing about this place really stood out to me. The location was a 3. The atmosphere was a 2. The service was a 2. The food if it was amazing could have bumped it up but it was barely a 2. I left very unimpressed, hungry, and disappointed. My taste buds were not engaged in any complex flavors. I guess it's "good" because there's not a lot of options in the city. Came here on a Saturday evening around 4pm. It looked like they were cross training someone at the register. But both looked bored and like they didn't want to be there or talking to us. The only greeting I got was "what do you want?" I ordered the Paneer Korma and Mixed Tandoori. Overall. Not impressed with the flavor profile. 2 stars.

Nun and a great chicken curry.

Hands down the best place I recommend to have Himalayan flavored food. Big selection of chicken, lamb, and goat. The people working at this location are always helpful to understand menu items and super patient to customers. Please order there mango lassi, trust me, this will complete your order. The restaurant is very traditional, really warming and welcoming to dine in. I recommend this location.

Amazing food! Cute waiter too! Butter chicken was great with dark chicken meat. The garlic naan is to die for.

Ok, I've ordered from Himalayan House Restaurant for a long, long time and I've procrastinated on posting a review because I selfishly wanted to keep this secret for myself. Staff have always been helpful and quick with fulfilling orders. The food is stellar. We typically order their chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and lamb tandoori entrees. All of these dishes are always perfectly cooked, savory, saucy and palatable. You have the option to specify the heat level on the entrees, using a scale of 1 - 10. Be warned, ordering a dish 10/10 heat will cause your nose to run, your lips to burn and mouth to tingle. It hurts so good! Of course, we also order their naan bread to slop up all the sauce. Their kheer (rice pudding) is the perfect dessert to end an amazing meal. It's normally served warm and it's just a tad sweet. My only complaint is that I wish they gave you more kheer per order. We typically pay $75-85 (with tip).

Ask the Community - Himalayan House Restaurant

    Is there a lunch buffet?

No but they do have good lunch specials.

I came here at 11:30am on Monday 12/13 and the place was locked up no one inside, have you guys closed down?

According to their website (https://www.himalayanrestaurantsd.com/), they are closed on Mondays. The Yelp hours should be updated to reflect this.

Did this restaurant close down? I called today and was told they closed down a month ago?

No. I ordered here today. 6/11/21. They don't pick up there phone it seems though. I ordered online direct through their website for pickup. Food was great as always.

Will they be re-opening indoors since it is allowed as of 8/31?

I called yesterday and they were still offering takeout only. Restaurant did NOT provide estimated date which dine-in would be offered.

Is this open for take-out during the corona virus outbreak or closed? they are not answering their phone. Just found out chula vista is closed for 2 weeks but they have other locations open including la mesa where you can still order.

I called a week and a half ago and they said they were open for delivery but that could have changed since then.

We took a seat at table and received ice waters. As it was my godson's first time trying Indian cuisine, I ordered the butter chicken, but threw in an order of paratha and dosa to give him a little something unusual. The butter chicken was pretty good! Great consistency and well-balanced, plus a good portion and a heaping service of white rice. The paratha was good, too. It was cooked perfectly, had light flavoring, and paired well with the butter chicken. The dosa, though, stole the show. That dosa and the sambar and chutney dips were delicious. My godson and I devoured them happily. Nandri might not be the best Indian food I've ever had, but it's definitely a great option, especially in an Indian-food deprived area of San Diego like National City. My wife was looking for a space where we could gather and honor the life of our best friend's child who passed away from Trisomy 18. From the moment we met Angel and Isaac, we knew we had found more than just a restaurant... we found people who genuinely care... Angel and Isaac were incredible listeners. They showed deep compassion, patience, and kindness, and they gave us complete freedom to rearrange the restaurant however we needed for our life celebration....That level of trust and generosity meant more than they probably realize. The space felt like it truly became ours for the evening...warm, welcoming, and filled with love. And the food... absolutely incredible. The butter chicken was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor easily one of the best I've had. The paratha was perfect: crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and impossible to stop eating. This is not your typical Indian restaurant experience the vibe is chill, laid-back, and inviting, and the food feels thoughtfully prepared, not rushed. If you're local and ever need a place to host an event, ask for Isaac. The space comfortably holds about 100 people and has hosted birthday parties, youth events, and more. Isaac shared with me that his heart is for this place to be a blessing to the National City community ... and it already is.
