Butter Chicken, Paneer Sizzling Platter, Chicken Qorma and empty plates. Delicious!

My husband and I ate at the Himalayan Grill today for the first time. The food and service is outstanding. We tried several dishes and everything was well balanced in flavor. My favorites were the Samosa Chat, the Chicken 65, the Royal Butter Chicken and the Naan. I could eat their Naan and butter chicken everyday and be very happy. My husband's favorite dish was the Chicken Qorma. The servers were attentive, pleasant and very friendly. The restaurant is well lit and decorated nicely. We will definitely go back. If you're out in Haymarket, I would recommend that you give them a try.

What a hidden gem! We just had lunch here and everything about the experience was incredible. The food was bursting with flavor, made fresh from scratch, and came out sizzling hot to the table... you could taste the love in every bite. The portions were generous, too, which made it even better. One of our guests is actually from Nepal, and even he was so impressed and genuinely enjoying every dish, which says a lot about the authenticity. The service truly stood out. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and with a big smile, our waitress even offered to take a photo for us, which was such a thoughtful touch. She was absolutely lovely. The restaurant itself is only about a year old, and it shows in the best way. The interior is spotless, beautifully decorated, and filled with natural light that makes the whole space feel warm and inviting. There's also a lovely outdoor patio that I can already tell will be absolutely gorgeous in the summer. It's a small, family-run place, and you can feel the care and pride in every detail. We'll definitely be coming back!

Great new Indian and Nepalese restaurant in Haymarket. Wide variety of menu options with a wide variety of different spices and flavors. Service was friendly and helpful. Interior was very nice with nice, comfortable chairs. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served.

I've had takeout from here and have dined in. Both amazing experiences. I'm so glad we have a good Napalese/ Indian restaurant for this area. Everything I've had here was very good. I would like to come back again and try some of their other dishes. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was probably the Chicken Wings because I thought they were a little on the dry side. Other than that, everything else was perfection. I had an amazing dining experience with them. The restaurant was spacious and clean with modern style decor . The service was excellent--friendly and attentive from start to finish. Our sweet waitress remembered me from when I came to pick up my take out order two months before. While waiting for the appetizers to come out , my friend and I tried their yummy cocktails. Their drinks were legit--strong, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. We especially loved the tamarind margarita; it had a bold, spicy kick that really stood out. The dishes I've tried are : Garlic naan 8/10 Soft, served warm, seasoned perfectly with a nice slightly chewy texture Nepali Chow mein 8/10 Noodles cooked al dente in their special spices. It has a slight spiciness to it, which was perfect to me since I love spicy food.) Butter chicken 7/10 The chicken was nice and tender, cooked in a rich tomato based, buttery sauce Fried chicken Momo/steamed chicken Momo 7/10 All their momo have nice flavorful, generous filling inside. It's seasoned with Nepalese spices , so they have a slight spicy kick to them. comes with dipping sauces on the side. Steamed vegetable Momo. 8/10 The veggie Momos are slightly larger than the chicken ones and filled with Nepali style seasoned veggies I believe there was corn, spring, onions, cabbage, and maybe carrots in the filling. Chicken 65 8/10 This appetizer has nice heat to it. It's boneless chicken fried in a blend of Indian spices. I enjoyed this one with some of their yogurt sauce that I ordered on the side, drizzled on top. Chicken tikka masala 7/10 This is one of my favorite Indian dishes I always order at every restaurant I go to that serves it. They do it well here. The large boneless pieces of chicken are nice and tender and the sauce is perfectly flavored. You can choose the spice level. Tandoori chicken wings 4/10 It was okay, just a tad bit on the dry side. Carrot raita 7/10 This was a great accompaniment with some of the dishes we ordered.

The Himalayan Grill is located in the retail complex off of Route 55 near the U.S. 15/Route 55 intersection. They opened a few days ago. I love Indian food - so I was excited to try out whatever constitutes Himalayan/Nepalese cuisine. I stopped in on a Friday evening to check out the place and order some food to go. I ordered their Daal Ko Soup - made with lentils. It's a tasty warming soup. I felt like the quantity of soup was a bit on the small side (see the attached pix). I also ordered their Khasiko Masu - a goat dish/stew slowly-cooked with onions, ginger, garlic, and spices. They asked what spice level I'd like - given it was my first time - I opted for "Medium." The goat was well butchered - meaning I encountered no silver skin or chunks of fat. I did encounter a few bones - which I can deal with. The spice level was nice and warming - it was served with Basmati Rice - which had a nice fragrance to it. Very tasty! While I was waiting for my to go order - I was approached by one of the staff - who wanted to know if they could offer me some hot tea. As it is really cold out - I said yes. They asked if I wanted milk in it - I turned down the milk - I wanted to experience whatever tea they were presenting - unadulterated by anything else. The tea was hot and lightly fragrant - it was really nice to sip while I was waiting on my order. Turns out the lady I interacted with is one of the owners - her name is Anita. There is a good bit of seating inside - very relaxing atmosphere. I will be back to eat in try out some other dishes. Paid with Apple Pay. Service was very good. #HimalayanGrill

Stopped in for the first time after seeing the great reviews. And we were not disappointed. We were greeted quickly and politely. The space is beautiful and clean. We got two kids meals and two adult meals. Butter Chicken, chicken chowmein, chicken tikka masala, mango lassi and samosa. We spent $80. The portions were decent, we brought home left overs. Seemed a little higher than I'd expect at lunch but the kids meals were priced well. Everything was delicious and the server was super polite and attentive. We will definitely be back.

    Lamb taas..$16.95??

Ordered the lamb taas (appetizer) to go. Very small amount for $16.95, don't think it's worth it. It was good, just not enough of it. With those prices, won't be ordering from there in the future.

The heat profile - super funny - Went to Camp 3 Hot - it was about right for me

All I have to say is WOW!! What a great addition to Haymarket - ate here on 1/12/25 - they have only been open for 5 days - a few nits that I chalk up to a new opening but what a great family restaurant. When we first walked in we were immediately greeted by what I assumed was the owner. I then noticed the beautiful chairs and art work on the walls. We started with appetizers. I ordered the hot and sour chicken soup - so authentic and a nice amount of heat - please understand that in Nepal hot means very hot but I love hot spicy food so the soup was a 10 out of 10 for me. My wife ordered the Samosa. 2 large Samosa's arrived shortly after the soup and again great flavors - the spice profile is a little stronger than other similar Indian food which for me again is awesome - I like strong flavors but nothing was over the top - it was balanced and fresh. While eating our appetizers I heard the other diners using words like "excellent" and "very good" - seems like everyone was enjoying their experience. For lunch there were 9 full tables - so a good crowd. For entrees, I ordered the lamb rogan Josh. Again, very good and plenty of lamb. My wife got the Chicken Tandoori which was amazing - highly recommend both dishes. We also had the garlic naan which was deelish. Highly recommend everything we ordered and can't wait to come back. Later in the meal come to find out that the restaurant was opened by the daughter of the man I initially met - he's not the owner but the dad of the owner and beaming with pride. It is family owned and operated. The severs were Kalifa (see pic) and Puza (she declined a pic but was very pleasant). Both servers were superstars so you can't go wrong with either one of them and of course dad was very active supporting the severs and right there with them taking orders and clearing tables. WELL DONE!!

    Do they have high chairs?

Yes, I saw them grab one for a child.

Is there a lunch menu /specials? There's no way I'm paying those insane prices.

Yes, they do but they just opened so I'm not sure if it changes everyday. The food is excellent. Well worth the cost.

    Do they have a buffet?

They do not have a buffet - seems like take out or sit down service only

The bar area is big and spacious, and usually sitting at the bar means better, more attentive service. The place was mildly busy, so I expected things to run smoothly -- but that wasn't the case. Right from the start, the bartender wasn't very attentive. We had to ask multiple times just to place our order. For appetizers, we tried the Goat Buttan and the Wild Boar -- we wanted to explore some of the unique delicacies on the menu. Both dishes were interesting, and the Goat Buttan and Wild Boar were actually pretty solid. Unfortunately, the service continued to be an issue. We had to flag the bartender again just to order our entrées and even for simple water refills. We ordered the Mutton Taas and the Yak Chili. The Yak Chili was very good, but the Mutton Taas was extremely dry -- like eating cardboard -- and lacked flavor. Throughout the night, our bartender was constantly absent. More than once, we had to ask another bartender to get his attention so we could get basic service. After finishing our meal, we ordered a dessert, the Gulab Jamun. The presentation looked nothing like the picture -- more like a sloppy drop of pudding -- and the taste was just as disappointing. And again, we had to flag down another bartender because ours was nowhere to be found. Service overall was lackluster, and the tip options started at 20% with no 18% choice. For the level of service we received, 15% would have been more appropriate. I won't be returning anytime soon unless I'm specifically craving their unique delicacies -- which is once in a blue moon.

It's inside a Liberty gas station right off Little River Turnpike (used to be John Mosby Highway), and from the outside you'd never expect there to be a hidden gem there. I tried the steamed chicken momo, chili chicken momo, and fried chicken momo. My favorite was probably the steamed chicken momo, but the other two were still interesting to try. There's also a Krunch Chicken connected to the momo spot, and honestly the fried chicken was my favorite part of the whole meal. It was super juicy and reminded me of Jollibee because the seasoning actually had flavor on the inside too, not just the outside. I got the 3-piece combo which came with a side of your choice, and a sweet biscuit for around $13. The gravy was super hot which i really liked and the biscuit reminded me of cornbread because of the texture. I spent around $50 total for the three momo orders and the chicken combo. I'd definitely come back for the fried chicken, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for the momos again. Also, the gas station itself is kind of like a mini 7-Eleven -- they sell snacks, beer, wine, ice, etc.

And I'm sad we did, because the food was NOT good. We ordered - Impossible meat momos 3/5 - they were okay...not the best and not the greatest. The flavor was hiding and the momo did not stay in tact at all. The sauce that they served alongside did not enhance the momo at all. Veggie momo 3/5 - again, they were okay. In fact, I think these were worst than the impossible meat momos. Didn't seem like there was any flavor and just veggies mushed together with salt and pepper. Raita 3/5 - way too liquidy for my liking. I thought they would at least provide rice, but no. So it was just basically liquid yogurt with a couple of strips of cucumbers and carrots. Paneer chili 0/5 - the container literally said 'paneer chili' and after 2/3 bites, I asked my friend if this was actually paneer because it was kind of chewy? Of course it wasn't and it was chicken!! I'm vegetarian so I was so disappointed that they put the wrong item in our order, especially since the container explicitly said paneer. This morning I woke up with a terrible stomachache. The food definitely did not sit right with me. I'm definitely going to skip this place and try Moh Moh Licious next time.
