2nd floor - remodeled shower with bigger size toiletries
    Brianna R.

Stayed May 2023 and there were bed bugs. I hope to hear back from the hotel as our formal complaint via the corporate website was forwarded to them. We're Gold Hilton Honors members, meaning we spend a lot of money with Hilton, and the response we received at check out was apathetic. We were disappointed. We were put in an older archaic room on the 3rd floor & my mother was as well. Her room didn't have working AC (which they knew about but didn't tell her) and ours had bed bugs. Once we were placed on the 2nd floor we saw the night and day difference. (see the photos) Older room had: bed bugs, old carpet, weak water pressure in the shower, and slow drains. We were covered in red, itchy, swollen bites for over a week from the bed bugs. IF you stay here, don't stay on the 3rd floor. Even if your room is bed bug free, there's no reason to pay the same amount and not be in an upgraded room on the 1st or 2nd floor. But honestly just find another hotel, don't stay here.

Hard to get into and less than perfect bedding. Pillows were small and the bed was a little worn out. Our room was nice enough. Breakfast was good and the waitress/host working the room was spot on. Although the short order cook was kind of rude. He lost them the 5th star.

What a nasty room they gave us! Room 190. We just checked out today. We were traveling with our 2 cats. Hotel is "pet friendly" but this room was not "pet safe" at all. Walked in and first noticed the CRAP stains on the carpets, it went downhill from there. The AC unit is extremely loud. Sounds like a severe windstorm all night. Under the AC unit we noticed our cat trying to grab something...it was a SCREW! That was dangerous! Huge gap spaces between bottom of box spring and the wooden frame. Cats were trying to squeeze in, so we asked for extra pillows and towels and blocked gaps up. The fridge is not adjustable and didn't work correctly. I was storing my meds and hope they are ok. The bathroom.....NASTY! Giant broken tiles in tub, broken sink, zero shower gel in shower. We told front desk but after 30min said forget it. I should've checked reviews first. We've had 2 gross HGI these past 2 days. Next stop we will choose another brand.

Room is comfortable but dated. Bathroom is small, door must be closed to use shower and the shower door hits the toilet. It's like they built the bathroom and the toilet was an afterthought. Breakfast is an $11 up charge. Just a cook making eggs and bacon. Toast, juice, etc. are all self serve. Food is typical bland hotel quality.

I am trying to give better reviews but this place just wouldn't let me. First impression is it is up to Hilton standards but upon closer inspection it is a badly remodeled hotel. Smallest TV I've seen, bathroom door hits toilet, tp dispenser can't be reached from the bowl. I should have checked reviews before booking but I did it on the Hilton app so shame on them.

The Chef who was swatting flies with his hand towel then eating the food with his hands that he prepared for customers.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Our first floor room was odd...curtains would not go all the way down and we had to place our luggage on top of ac to cover the gap. The man in the kitchen was swatting flies over the food with a hand towel he used to wipe his hands then reached over and grabbed the prepared food with his hands and started eating it. Would never stay at another hilton garden.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden inn, Amarillo Texas August 15,2021. We WERE NOT told upon arrival that there was a huge security issue ongoing. Five thefts in the past week in the parking lot. Also We WERE NOT told upon arrival that there were NO SECURITY CAMERAS ON THE PROPERTY. We just so happened to park in the spot closest to the front door, backed in and under a huge light. However We woke up the next morning to our yeti box and tent being stolen from the bed of our truck with all of our camping supplies inside. Our desk clerk, Acacia, was extremely nice and apologetic. She was the one who informed us of all the robberies, her wallet included, and that there no security cameras on site. She even told us the desk clerk at checkin WAS SUPPOSED to warn us and have us lock up our valuables. I wish he would have. Because now we are out of almost $1000 worth of merchandise and my fathers irreplaceable knife. We asked Acacia to call the manager. And Cameron, the manager, came. She has been of no help. Only offered a couple points to my Hilton account. We left the hotel and I called Hilton customer service. Spoke with a lady who started our case. This hotel is owned by a company in India. Please choose another hotel. This Hilton knows they don't have cameras and don't protect their guests. Zero customer service.

We had ONE room and yet we able to unlock and access another room as well.

Aside from the hospitality, I am guessing the kickback hour is a big draw as well. They are also pet friendly. We were on a roadtrip to Colorado and decided to spend the night on our way back. There were 2 tour buses when we arrived and it looked like we just missed the crowd at check-in. The front desk folks were an epitome of Texas hospitality. Friendly, laid back and the ladies just made us feel so welcome. We were given 3 drink coupons each for kickback hour. Our 2 queen room on the 2nd floor didn't have much of a view but it was homey and quiet. Kickback hour was busy but staff were surprisingly very accommodating. Their margaritas will give you a buzz. They have hot food items, soup and a salad for the complimentary light dinner. For those that have not stayed at a Drury Inn before, the kickback hour is similar to Embassy Suites' evening reception, but WAY better. We slept surprisingly well, considering the hotel's proximity to the highway. We had no problems with the ac either. Breakfast was better than your typical hotel breakfast with a bunch of options. We did not get to use the other facilities because we had to head out early. This was our first time staying at a Drury property. I'm normally a Hilton and Marriott girl but I'll definitely choose Drury if there is one available in my future destinations. We also appreciate the military discount they offer. Thanks for a memorable stay!

I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access.

We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to .

The bed is comfortable, the linens and towels of the quality expected in a nice hotel. Physically, the place is nice. What is lacking is a customer experience commensurate with their hype. They are posers. Gone are the days, when the clerk comes from behind the counter to hand you your room key and walk you to the elevator. That used to be a Marriott trademark, but no trace of it at the Barfield. I decided to eat at the bar. Same menu as the hotel's Toscana Italian Steakhouse. Even though there were three women behind the bar, and only six other patrons, it took a while to be recognized, since the staff were all busily chit-chatting with each other. Finally, one of the women brought me a glass of bar mix. I looked at it, trying to figure out what it was. It was the consistency of large-grain salt--I would need a spoon to eat it. I asked another of the staff on her way by what it was, and, after examining it, she said, "It looks like you got the bottom of the bag." What level of mindlessness does it take to pour a glass of bar-mix crumbs, hand it to a guest, and think that's world-class? Dinner was the next disappointment. I was interested in the "Creole Tortellini," but asked if they could prepare it with any type of red sauce, instead of the cream sauce. "No problem," I was told. As I was finishing my salad, the woman returned to say they couldn't accommodate the request because "everything was already mixed together." Prepared in-kitchen earlier in the day, or in a Sysco bag, I'll never know. Next try was Steak Frites, steak done medium. It came out medium-well with cold fries. The highlight was the glass of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo I ordered. The "fond farewell" I received early next morning was from the "valet." When he brought the car around, he exited the car, closed the door, and handed me the key as he walked by me while I stood at the rear of my car with my bag. He rushed back inside, leaving me standing there with his tip in my hand. Based on my experience, the Barfield wants to be a high-end hotel, but not enough to actually work at it. Not worth the premium.
