Hil's is a great place. They're kind of that good 'ol greasy burger joint. On top of that Debra and Hil are super nice people.

We came to Canyon to try a new food truck in town however they weren't where we thought they were so we decided to use a restaurant.com gift certificate ($10 off). We found the location and it looked a little run down. My first impression of this place is - I hope it's good. We walked in and were confused about whether we should grab our own menus & sit down or wait to be seated; we ended up grabbing menus and seating ourselves. There were about 8 booths that seat 4 people then 2 or 3 long tables that seat more than 4 people each. Hil's had a condiment station (shredded lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, jalapenos, onion, relish, ketchup, mustard, mayo, steak sauce etc.) We sat in a booth that was decorated with a hard plastic cover, under the plastic were some vintage photos & what looked like a hand made tablecloth. The waitress was the only one working & VERY friendly and attentive. She took our drink orders and when she came back, she took our dinner order. The dining room felt as if it needed to be updated. HIS: 1/3 cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese HERS: Hamburger patty with white gravy PRO - Local eatery - Plenty of parking - Complimentary ice cream CON - Taste Unfortunately, we wouldn't come back even if we were in the area. read more

We love little hole in the wall restaurant and this is by far one of the best! Their burgers are so fresh and the grilled bun is delicious! My husband and I visited this place after we did our laundry. Really nice staff. It wasn't crowded at all. We were the only ones there, so the food came out fast. I loved the fried zucchini. I'm a lover of great ranch, but theirs wasn't the best. Wasn't the worst either. We both ordered burgers and thought they were great. You can put your on toppings on at the toppings bar. I thought that was fun. I had curly fries but I think they could have used a little more seasoning. Still yummy though. Fun place to eat at. read more

Great little mom & pop greasy spoon. If you want some comfort food or breakfast-all-day this is the spot. I don't really eat meat or dairy anymore, but they are always happy to make me a breakfast burrito however I like it. Love their red and green salsa. Nice staff. I used to manage this place. DO NOT eat here. Hil told us to serve green rancid hamburger. Half the town got food poisoning... Myself and several employees as well since we ate before our shift we had no idea what the condition was until we clocked in. I informed the owner and he told me "Just cook the hell out of it, it's fine." Servers were then told by myself to recommend ONLY the fish (frozen). read more

Locally owned, family business that is open for breakfast and lunch. My favorite is the breakfast burrito with red sauce. The burgers are decent and if you go inside you can build your own. Free ice cream with the purchase of a meal. Good fries, great onion rings. Food is made fresh to order, so give them time to cook it fresh for you. In a hurry, they do call ins, so you can zip right through the drive in. The sodas come with "good ice", if your from Texas, you know what I mean. read more

I was surprised how much I liked the burgers here. They're not gourmet by any stretch, they're just plain good. The burgers are reminiscent of the ones your fat uncle would grill up for everyone at the family barbecue. I love me a gourmet burger but sometimes I just want a simple burger done right and Hil's is the place I'd go for that. read more
