Some VERY BASIC and inexpensive missing essentials at the Hilo YMCA include a decline bench press and a hack squat machine. For whatever reason, there are unnecessary duplicates of others while essentials go missing: having two leg extension machines is overkill, while as of this February 2025 review, the VERY ESSENTIAL seated leg press machine has been broken for nearly 5 MONTHS. Repeated requests for this repair have gone totally ignored. Previous broken machines have followed the same timeline, being allowed to languish unrepaired and thus unusable for many months. There is no communication by the staff to members to explain any of this. This is not an "oversight," but rather blatant unapologetic neglect.
