I've never skied here, but I probably will now! I went here for an "Arctic Entries" storytelling event. It's the first I've ever really driven into this area, it's delightful! And, it's a non-profit! It looks like they are now starting to have beer and food onsite! I'll definitely come back to learn how to ski with the 6 year olds! read more

This was a great little hill. Perfect for skier and snowboarders beginning. They had a few small and medium features in the park which was great for my kids to play around on. It's hard to beat the ticket prices and I love supporting a nonprofit. Wish we had more in the lower 48. read more

Love you guys & love the improvements you are all doing. #1 constructive critique for Alyeska & Hilltop. Spacing etiquette in lines. I've gotten the most top sheet damage in both locations due to spacing etiquette. This is coming from now snowboarding on majority of Epic and Ikon mountains within the Rocky's & PNW which seems to have more respect for spacing in lines. Pretty great location for those who are learning. Staff is always quick and friendly to grab rentals and/or lift tickets. The lift lines can get a bit crowded with younger kids cutting the line and such. That's the only part that gets old very quickly. They offer military discounts too! read more

Tiny, tiny and...oh...tiny ski resort. $34 snowboard and boots rental and $26 for a weekday lift ticket. This is a good place to learn or get your first run of the season in but not for much of anything else. It's very convenient to get to if you're staying in Anchorage since it's about 15-20 minutes away from almost anywhere in town. Make sure to buy any gear that you need while you're in town (except for skis, snowboards, boots that you can rent here) and not at the resort. The resort only has gloves, beanies, chapstick, goggles but not much of anything else. There's a small "terrain" park with a pipe, table, ramp and rail but not much of anything else. A ski jumping complex is also on the right of the hill but I wasn't interested in it so I don't know anything about it. Mehh...convenient place to get to from Anchorage but not all that fun if you're past the beginner level. read more

Fantastic little ski area! First visit today after 6-8" of snow last night and the trails were well groomed and maintained. Very short lines at the lift. Lodge had just enough space for everyone who wanted to sit down and warm up. Couple fire pits outside, and a food truck serving delicious reindeer dogs. Trails were beginner oriented: nice and wide, not too steep and great for families with new skiers. I'll definitely be heading back with my kids! read more

Okay don't mind Shaun white comments above. I am happy to see Hilltop the way it is. It is as good as it will get for a "downtown" ski area. Being that I do terrain park its perfect instead of driving all the way to Alyeska. Yes it is small but for the amount it cost with my military discount it is perfect. For folks who are not concerned about the size but just love riding this is a perfect place for you. It is not just for beginners. Granted it doesn't have double black diamond trails. Its as good as it can get in downtown anchorage. read more

Due to my then-limited experience with skiing a few years back, this is the perfect place for beginners; yes, on the chair lift and not bunny slope! If you can at least do a snowplough wedge or turn and skid stop, you'll do just fine. Only take the run on the far right at the very end, since the others are very steep and on the same level as Alyeska's more advanced runs! You won't have to feel humiliated around youngsters whom many probably started skiing as soon as they were starting to walk! Really enjoyed this place and some really nice people that helped me out that I met learning as well as the staff. But for some of the people monitoring chairlift lines, a little debatable. Also, it seems the place is more crawling with kids than adults, so that can be a little annoying. But many of them use the terrain park, which adults tend to avoid anyway. The place is overpriced, considering it's a pretty simple slope with limited runs and I do NOT recommend buying a season pass, even if you are starting out. This is a good place for a local recreation time filler or learning curve. As a final note: if you are a mature adult starting out skiing at this place, please try to restrain yourself from wanting to strangle a small child without ski poles rocketing past you like it's nothing while you are struggling to practice and retain your balance, composure, and dignity. read more

Really good for beginners kids and adults. Price / quality / easy access - all together makes great place for people, who want to start downhill skiing or snowboarding. The fact, that hilltop is within Anchorage makes it perfect for getting out with small kids for two three hours - got enough fun - home within 20 min. Cost of lessons, equipment rentals is much lower than Aleyska. For beginner, each trip u take to Aleyska will take about an hour drive, obviously lunch, lessons, equipment ets. - comes out whole day ordeal with unreasonable amount of money spent. Parents with little kids, who are taking lessons, can sit inside - there is a big room with giant windows to watch slopes, fire place and many tables and chairs inside building where rental, and ticket office. There is little cafe with junk food, coffee, cookies and hot teas. read more

Nice little place right on the middle of town! You can't beat that. The lift lines are usually non-existent. Bunny hill is wide and just long enough to get you started. Lifts seem well maintained and manned at all times. The trails are all green or blue so no advanced steep runs here. Overall, a great place to come alone or bring the family. They hand a snack bar and clean restrooms. Rentals are good quality and plentiful. I really do like this place! Convince is key to being able to come often. read more

Great place to learn and get comfortable on skis or snowboard. But be warned, DO NOT make the mistake I did and buy a season pass. You will get burned out on this place quick. The ski lift takes longer to get you up the hill than it does to come down. Not to mention, they have a guy there that is an all around jerk off, he's foreign and works the ski lift. The way I hear him talking to some of these people who are new to skiing or snowboarding and are obviously nervous on the ski lift, its like he thinks hes working in the Alps or something. New Flash dude, your a lift operator for a rinky dink bunny slope in Anchorage. This place also seriously needs to figure out their lift line situation and also needs a new lift. 7-8 mins to go up, 1 min to come down. This star rating is really relevant to what your looking for. If you're looking for easy, quick, family friendly atmosphere, void of any people with bad attitudes, this place is a great place for that, in that regard it is 5 out 5 If you're looking for some resort with some epic runs, this ain't it. read more

I love that we have a small ski area in Anchorage! you can't beat your kids snowboarding after school without the hassel of a road trip and more. My kids (4 of them) all took the hotdoger lessons and then had their pass for the whole season! The instructers surpassed my expectations. Despite most of them being teenagers they were very patient, encouraging and attentive to my kids needs- even around each other. They were polite and helpful to me as a parent. I was very impressed with the instructors- much better than one I paid a pretty penny for at Alyeska. Overall- Hilltop is perfect for our family to play together on the slopes- especially when we are not up for an all day affair or the price of Alyeska. read more
