Went up to Alaska to do some heli boarding. Booked a trip with Silverton Mountain Guides, met at the the hangar at 8:30 am and waited until around 3:00 pm until we actually took off in the heli. Which was understandable because we had to let the fog lift off the mountains. Not worried about the wait. It cleared up and we took off expecting a sunny powder filled line to ride. But when we landed for our first run, they dropped us in THE worst spot ever. Our guide was Aaron and he didn't seem to care at all about what we wanted to ride, he didn't ask us a single question and didn't seem interested in getting us a good line. It was cloudy, so the lighting was flat and we couldn't see anything, 40 mph winds and the hill was literally a bunny hill. And they took us (15 yrs+ experienced snowboarders) on that run TWICE before we asked to go back to he hangar because we were wasting our time and $$. It was a good experience flying in the heli but overall I wouldn't choose silverton mtn guides again. read more
