This ride is sort of worth it just to say that you've been at the top of Mt. Alyeska! The journey itself only lasts about five minutes or less, but once you are at the top, you really feel like you are somewhere special. You can see for ages and look down the mountain to the resort below (everything is so small from up there!). This ride is normally for people who are hopping off to ski the mountain, but we did it just to see to the expanse below and have lunch at the cafe on the top. The views, ride, and whole experience are great, even if you're not skiing, but the ticket price is a bit steep, I will say. read more

What an amazing experience!! As a tourist, and non-skier, this was an incredible treat! I have to admit, I had reservations about being suspended on cables so high like that, but once on the Tram, those worries went away quickly. The ride was smooth, the attendant inside was friendly & knowledgeable, and the views... O! M! G! I could ride this thing back and forth all day long just looking at the views. And once you're at the top, the views are equally as spectacular! I suggest getting the deal where you get a food voucher at the diner at the top. Well worth the entire thing! read more

This is a neat thing to do while you are in the Anchorage area. This tram takes you to the top of a mountain where you can ski, eat and/or drink. The staff there is very friendly and the prices differ if you are just a spectator going up to the top, just going to eat and watch people ski or if you are going to actually ski. I was a spectator. If you plan on eating up there, I highly recommend getting the ride and dine ticket because it will save you a few bucks in the long run. You can use it for food or drink up there. They offer Student, senior and military discounts, so if you qualify, save yourself a few bucks. Also, the tickets are good all day and you can go up and down the tram as much as you would like for the day of your ticket purchase. The trams were clean and smooth and obviously a person with a fear of heights would not do well on them. It takes about 3 to 7 minutes for the tram to make it to the top of Mt. Alyeska, which is at an elevation of 2300 feet. FYI, it is rumored that the tram operates at a faster speed in the winter to get eager skiers on the slopes quicker. Once you are up to the top of the mountain, you will be treated to some picturesque views that would make Instagram proud. There are skiers and snowboarders all over the place. It is definitely a sight to see. Be carful up there, because the snow is very slippery. I had to catch myself a few times up there. You will find restrooms, a deli, a bar and of course a gift shop up there all wanting your money (well not the restroom). I get my pictures in and then went to the restaurant to redeem my ride and dine voucher. It was easy. Parking here is free, but it is a long walk from the parking lot to the ticket booth and tram. So, there was no need for my whole group to make the trek, so one of us pulled up to the front and dropped everyone off and then they parked the truck and they walked up. We had gotten all the tickets and was ready to get on the tram as soon as they got there. This is a nice time. We all had a lot of fun and I highly recommend checking this place out. read more

The tram is worth trying out at least once in your life. It does come with a hefty pricey tag at $38 for 4 mins. Or you choose the rail and dine for $50, which gives you a $20 credit at the deli or bar. It was a cloudy day so you couldn't see too much, but when you did, it was a spectacular view. When you get to the top, you are greeted with more views as long as the weather gods will allow you to see. But still very eerie seeing that you were surrounded by clouds and couldn't see the bottom. We had lunch at Bore Tide and Deli, and of course all the food was surrounding that $20 credit. All main entrees were $18 and side items like fruit cups and soda were $2. Which consumes all the credit. They were out of a few things and the service took a little longer, especially since we just ordered sandwiches and fried items. They weren't even that busy, based off the amount of customers there. The tram personnel were friendly and informative. Overall, it would be a 4 star if it wasn't so pricey and they were not out of the few things. read more

My review is for the Alyeska Aerial Tram, simply a fantastic attraction and activity to do while driving along Seward Highway, Alaska. I highly recommend stopping in the town of majestic Girdwood, AK and coming to the Alyeska Resort and Hotel where this aerial tram is located. I was driving the 127-mile Seward Highway south towards the Kenai Peninsula and here this Alyeska Sky Tram was located at about mile 90...not too far away from Anchorage. But along my 127 journey, I would say this cable car ride was one of the best roadside and memorable stops that I can't say enough good things about it. And the reason I'm raving about coming here is because the town of Girdwood is stunning! The lush green, snowcapped mountains and surroundings were strikingly beautiful! I mean yes, most of Alaska is scenic but here in Girdwood I had no expectations for what to discover and I left pretty mesmerized by the statuesque landscape! In fact, I would slightly compare being here and riding the aerial tram to the top of Mount Alyeska similar to the surroundings at Glacier National Park in Montana, one of my favorite NP's in the USA. For coming here to Alyeska Sky Tram, simply plug the destination into Google Maps and you'll be guided to the Alyeska Resort, just off Seward Highway. Once here, obviously the main attraction is this cable car ride. There'll be signs for visitor parking which is free. When buying a ticket, it's a $35 fee, roundtrip. If I had to say one small disappointment about my experience was after purchasing my lift ticket, I had to wait about 20 minutes in line to finally get to ride. One other detail...I visited back in the summer of 2021 in the middle of June and unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating. It was mostly overcast with slight rain at times sort of limiting my opportunities for capturing potentially incredible photo opportunities. But I have to accept fate and this day here, I guess perfectly sunny skies weren't on the agenda, lol. Although the weather was iffy, the tram was still in operation. I was grateful for the chance to experience it. It's about a 7-minute trek each way to and from the top of Mount Alyeska at 2300 feet high. The cable car fits at least 20 people or so and everyone stands while riding being afforded 360-degree views. I got some cool photos going up the tram. To quickly sum up what to expect to see at the top of Mount Alyeska...I quoted what I felt like was a great summary from Google... "The Alyeska Resort Aerial Tramway is a seven-minute ride to a viewing deck with breathtaking panoramic views of mountains, hanging glaciers, streams, spruce, and an array of wildlife. At an elevation of 2300 feet, witness frosty views of the Turnagain Arm, up to seven "hanging" glaciers and endless peaks deep into the Chuhagh Mountain range." Not only is the viewing/observation deck situated at the top, but there's a small gift and souvenir shop located next door. Also here is a giant restaurant where you can walk inside and sit down, have lunch or dinner with views peering out onto the wondrously gorgeous landscape. The restaurant has restroom for visitors as well. I'd say I spent about 45 - 50 minutes hanging out, walking around, taking panoramic pictures and simply appreciating how scenic the mountainous backdrop appeared. You can take as much time as you'd like up top until you're ready to ride the tram back down. The best perspective (imo) was standing at the observation deck. For midday, the light was at my back which allowed for pleasant photos moments from the vista overlook. Lastly, I did walk away from the tram section where snow had fallen on the ground, and it afforded me time to snap pics without any handrails or guardrails situated at my waste side. I definitely recommend walking onto the snow for unique and alternative perspectives. Overall, although the clouds put a slight dent into my Alyeska Aerial Tram experience, I still admired getting to witness the incredible Girdwood, Alaska landscape from high above. This roadside attraction along famed Seward Highway should not be missed for every tourist out there. read more

You get to take the tram on the way up, visit and see what is up there, and take the tram on the way down. Although it was foggy and rainy, my family and I still decided to give it a go since we were there and don't know if we will ever get the chance to come back. The tram ride itself was actually quite smooth and it was cool to be able to look out on the way. Got to see 3 moose in the distance on the way up which was cool! While we were up at the location at the top, the views were great! Of course would've been better if the fog/mist wasn't there but that's to no fault of the business. There was a little museum there as well which was super clean and organized on the inside. The TV is going to educate you on different things which was nice. The deli didn't have very many dietary options which was a bummer so we didn't eat there. They do allow dogs on the tram but they have to be in a kennel which I believe they provide. The experience on the tram is like none other I've had before. It was scary and it was beautiful. We visited in January and the views going up the tram were spectacular. Once you reach the top, it feels like you're staring at a painting. I mention that it was scary but not because of any safety issues. The tram staff were great, and everything seemed up to code but for someone that is not used to hanging by a cable and going up two thousand feet it was definitely an experience. An underwhelming experience for a $38 per person charge. For openers, the tram does not travel to anywhere near the top of any mountain. There is about a 180 degrees view from the tram end, with the side of the mountain taking up the rest. On the ride up and down you can only see out one side because the other passengers block the other side. So make sure to stand on the opposite side on the way down to get the full picture. Also, the ride is short because it only goes partway up the mountain, only about four minutes. On the positive side, the facilities are clean and well maintained and the staff was very nice. Definitely go to the small museum at the top, watch the video and view the exhibits for the history of Girdwood. The glaciers are incredible to see. read more

Mt. Alyeska Tram was located a short drive off of Turnagain Arm. There was ample parking and located just a short walk for the parking was the ticket office. Since we hadn't eaten and didn't want to rush, we opted for the Dine & Ride option which for $7 more you get a $20 food voucher redeemable at the Bore Tide Deli at the top of the mountain. The tram ride up was scenic.. we kept looking down below since there was mention that a black bear had been seen earlier during the day. Unfortunately we didn't spot it. When we reached the top, there are many additional lifts and a lot of paths for dirt bikes. We enjoyed taking a break at Bore Tide Deli -- food was alright.. soups, sandwiches, yogurt, ice cream, snacks. The fish & chips special that day was good. The bison burger came with some fixings that made it too sweet. While the food was just ok.. the view from the dining room with the large glass windows was spectacular. It was nice to take a pause after a day filled with nonstop touristy activities. After eating we walked around outside and tried to hike up this small hill but gave up quickly since it was slippery (very sandy) & there were large swarms of mosquitoes the higher you climbed up. We sat outside for a bit, enjoyed the view, snapped way too many pictures and then took the tram ride back down. It was a nice way to see an aerial view of Girdwood and to eat lunch at the top of the mountain. This aerial tram is a nice spot along the Seward highway. It's part of a nice resort, so it's a good place to check out some of the shops, take a walk around the grounds, and use the restrooms as well. It's not the cheapest tram, but the views were excellent. The staff running the trams were friendly and informative. It's a rather short ride with limited seats, but it has some poles to hold onto. Once you're up there, there are restrooms, a bar and deli, a restaurant, and a small gift shop/museum. There is also a trail if you wish to hike up further. read more

Although this tram is nice and somewhat affordable, you do have to drive a bit if you're not already lodging at the hotel. I would say the views are quite gorgeous and the staff are very friendly. The ticket you purchase is valid for that entire day, so you can go up and down as many times as you like. The view is absolutely breathtaking going up, such beauty in the landscape. At top there is a cafe open, which serves food and coffee etc, which can get busy. Skiing up too too. read more
