(You'll know by the line of cars and the digital signage posting the next open time. We missed the exit time and turned back around to enjoy some chowder at the Anchor Inn as a result.) Loved walking around while work was being wrapped up, and peering into closed shops. We heard everyone in this community lives in the same building (the brightly colored one)...not the one that looks like it needs repairs and could be in a cool movie. The majestic mountains, lovely waterfalls, cool single train track, and working boats, make for great photos. My co workers were hoping to see a bear, and bought some expensive bear spray. Don't laugh, the cloud and tree pics are the closest we got to a sighting, (for which you'll need some imagination), thank goodness. We're so glad we got to visit Whittier!

We made two landings: one is on the Colony Glacier (we walked around and drank a bit glacier water); one is on mountain overlook lake George Glacier (the view was breathtaking). Let me tell you that my wife and I was so impressed by the Alaska Resort. All we kept saying if we're get back to Alaska, we will spend more time here. When you arrive at the hotel, I had this feeling that we were in someplace like the Swiss Alps, I've never been there but from what I know from seeing on TV, my opinion. The hotel is just beautiful and our rooms were just amazing as well, everything top notch! We had 2 Queen beds in our room, a dressing/ sink area and enclosed bath. We had a coffee machine as well with fridge below. We left the room to walk around and we came out the back to find snooze giving us all a show as it bathed in the pond, what a site. We took the tram up to the top of the mountain, where I then continued with others to climb the path to the top. It was truly Gods country, just beautiful all the things you saw from up there. After getting back into the resort, we sat a table in the bar with our wonderful bartender made us dine very fine drinks! It was very relaxing. We went to dinner in the restaurant and had a light dinner which was also delicious. Like I said, I wish we had more than one night there, the Alyeska Resort is just beautiful, enjoy the photos

The sleeping arrangement is perfect with all the beds upstairs and very nice blackout curtains. I was worried about the near-constant daylight but had no issues sleeping. The cabin is equipped with a wall heater that makes things surprisingly toasty, even at night (we came when lows were in the 40s). The mini kitchen works wonderfully for simple meals and breakfasts. The mini fridge is large enough to store several meals (4 dinners and 5 breakfasts) and has a small freezer compartment. The kitchen comes stocked with plastic utensils (metal available upon request), mugs, a coffee maker, coffee, tea (herbal and black), sweetener, and creamer which was a pleasant surprise. You can also request a kettle and/or toaster. The host/owner is super sweet and lovely to chat with. There's a wide selection of movies in the main house to use on the cabin's new TV and DVD player. There are also plenty of books available to borrow. We had a small issue with our water going out one night but she was able to reconnect us to cold water within 15 minutes and the hot was fixed overnight. The property uses well water so it was an issue with the pump which is totally understandable. The care and speed with which she handled the issue was impressive and made my experience outstanding. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to others!

You should know that despite being a born-into-it coastal Mainer, I'm a middle-aged occasional couch dweller who's never fished in my life, and I would have totally enjoyed the awesome trip into Prince William Sound even without catching anything. But Ben and Satchel truly went above and beyond for me and everyone else onboard, finding bait balls (and therefore salmon) left and right and walking us all through exactly what to do. The result was that I managed to reel in a large (let the photo suffice) silver on my first try. I'm still speechless. The vessel is great--extremely comfortable and well-equipped. Ben and Satchel were utterly competent, affable, kind, funny, and had endless patience with me and the other people onboard, including an obnoxious kid who lost his bait about a thousand times and snarled his line with everyone else's at least twice. Satchel also went above and beyond after we got back to Whittier, walking us through getting our catch cleaned and packed for the trip home. For more serious fishermen, you WILL go away happy. For clueless but appreciative newbies like me, you'll go away amazed and very likely with fish as well. Highly recommended, with gratitude.
