Was attending a football game at Curry College and one of the security officers recommended Hillside. The place was packed so we sat at a small counter waiting for table to open up. The waitress kept an eye out and directed us to a table that would quickly be empty. The service was spot on. We ordered cheeseburgers and pizza - food arrived quickly and was delicious. The place had a fun vibe and once again, the service was excellent. It was a pleasure to visit such a well-run establishment. read more

Hillside Pub is a true hidden jewel. It's a bar room that's great to eat in or take out. We take out from here at least once a week. The pizza is solid, the steak tips are great, a great chicken Caesar wrap. They also have delicious Chile! I have not had a bad meal here!!! Aye, This is a great local place. The food here is actually surprisingly good too assuming they get your order correct which at times can be seldom. Ok hang out place. Full of dcr staff, state troopers and royall street workers grabbing a few beers before, during and after work . Food sucks and service is slow if packed ( not enough wait staff) but everyone is friendly and bathroom is typically clean! read more

Inexpensive, good beer selection, fast/attentive service and a casual atmosphere make this one of the best bars in the area. Tucked in behind the Shell station, this gem is easy to miss. They serve mostly standard bar food, not a gourmet restaurant but all their offerings (at least the ones I have tried) are pretty good none the less. Been at the homewood suites nearby for over a month. Been to this place a few times with no problem except this last time. The owner refused service and I had 2 beers prior and walked there. We will be here another year but will not go back. read more

There is no better spot around for a good Guinness and some quiet you time. I couldn't tell you about the food because I'm not hungry when I go there. If you're a food snob or you want someone to tell you how great you are don't waste your time or theirs, stick with Starbucks. The bartenders are professional in a way that you need to experience. If you make it a regular stop they will get to know you quickly and learn what you like and how fast you like it. It's a true home away from home. read more

First bar I have gone to and it is still my favorite. A real home town feel that I thoroughly enjoy each time I go there with my friends. Their staff is very quick to get whatever you need, and they will notice the moment a drink is empty to refill it or take it away. Great food, great drinks and great staff. What else do you need in a neighborhood pub. They could use a little bigger menu and parking lot, but what they do works great! I've been here multiple times to eat lunch and dinner and I don't think I've ever had a bad meal. Personally I recommend the burgers and tips. Soups are great, but can be a little salty if that bothers you. The only thing I'd mention is order one grade less done than you might normally get. Lots of TV's for watching games and they'll even change a channel on one if you ask. I use to live 5 minutes from here and now live in Brockton and can't find anywhere that comes even close. read more

Similar to several other reviewers, we brought a group of about 40 people over here after our wedding just down the road. The ownership was incredibly accommodating, taking a food order well ahead of time and having everything ready to go when our guests arrived. All in all, we had a great experience here. The Hillside is the perfect place to stop after a day of work. It's close to the highway, has great & friendly service, & the food is delicious (love the grilled chicken sandwiches)! Lots of options and well priced beers/drinks! One drawback is the parking during rush hour (or dinnertime!) but totally do-able. The owners are great and seem to know everyones name. The atmosphere is fun and cozy and always alot of young people there after a work day! I definitely recommend going to the hillside after a long (or short) day and bringing your friends! read more

My wife and I have become Friday night regulars. It's a friendly crowd and has a good selection of draft beer - try the Smithwicks on tap. It is a pub menu but the quality is above average. Nice, charming place that is crowded on Friday night. I wish they could move down the road to the other, bigger place that is doing poorly. Felt like I was stepping into a bar located in the middle of Ireland with all the folks with Irish accents. Walked right in with two of my friends and sat right down at the bar. We were attended too immediately and since we were at an Irish pub I had to get a Guinness. The bartender was phenomenal. He served us very quickly and was very friendly. The food came out really fast and was very good as well. Myself and one of my friends ordered the turkey club and then the other ordered a plate of wings. The food came out very fast; like I said, and the wings were a good size. Most of the time places get skimpy on how many wings they give you per order, but not this place. Both the turkey clubs were great. Really no complaints about anything here besides the limited parking, but that's not something that usually affects my experience. The bartender kept checking up on us and making sure we were alright and if we needed anything. Very friendly staff and a great spot to grab a beer and bite to eat. I will definitely be back. Wish I could give it 3 and 1/2 stars. The service is good, drinks and food come out very quick and the servers check in with you frequently. The prices are also very reasonable. The menu is somewhat limited and I would say the food is just alright-nothing special. I had an afternoon meal at the Hillside Pub on Saturday March 12th. The prices were good but the food and the service were awful. I had pizza and onion rings, the pizza was beyond soggy and the onion rings were not at all tasty. The employees, while not extremely busy, had to be seek ed out when I wanted service. I cannot believe I am the only one who has to do this but i feel that it must be said. I went to the hillside pub a total of 2 times and upon the second time going I was told i could never return. I did nothing but buy 2 draft beers and fries and leave very generous tips. I was clearly mistaken for someone else who had appearently caused some kind of trouble but was not even given the chance to explain that I am not the person they had mistaken me for. I am probably one of the most friendly people anyone could ever know, I would never cause any trouble of any kind. I sincerely hope that I really am the first and last person who has to write a bad review but i cannot recommend that anyone give a place service who treats good people like this. Do not be fooled by their initial friendliness, I was treated the same way the first time. Its sad because if this huge misunderstanding did not happen i would recommend this place to all my friends and family, but if something like this happened to me I swear up and down it would happen to anyone. I hope they change their attitude one day and give good people the benifit of the doubt. Do not go here and spend your money because they will show their true colors in the end, their are many other great bar and grilles in the canton area that I would recommened over this tight clustered bar that lacks the most important aspect of running a business, treat your customers with basic decency. read more
