The rooms and bathrooms are kept clean, the residents are taken well care of and fed at the same time every day. The menus are really good. (They eat better than I do). There is one person in particular that has had a lot to do with the improvements and that would be Shae. She is The supervisor in my wife's building. She is doing a fantastic job. I see it on a daily basis. The residents are happy.

She fell on the floor three times in one night the first two times I caught her on my camera and I called somebody to come help her the third time happened at 1 o'clock in the morning and she was on the floor by herself all night, covering herself with a jacket, unable to get up and unchecked for over seven hours. They wouldn't change her on a normal basis she would wear the same clothes over and over, Ieven though I would tell them to change her the last straw is when she was all the sudden non-mobile and they put her in a wheelchair we had no idea what to do. They're the professionals finally, we made the call to have them call 911 to have her sent out. Turns out that one of her Falls gave her a hip fracture which she had immediate hip replacement. She got it replaced that day and was in rehab. She came back home to Mustang Creek Estates and within two days she woke up or should I say didn't wake up and was lethargic I looked at her on my camera and noticed she was still sleeping and it was almost past 10. I called her son to ask what's going on as she was lethargic and not responsive and he said that they took a blood pressure and just told him it was low and that was it so I asked her son to ask how low it was in the 50s over 40s, which is critical and her organs were failing. I told her son that they need to call 911 that second cause every time makes a difference between immortality. It's like they didn't even know how to read a blood pressure and that blood pressure clearly this place does not have the appropriate medical training. They don't even have a nurse on site. Just know that they have somebody that makes her rounds once a week and not everybody can even read a blood pressure that should be mandatory to facility like this thank God I had my camera because if it wasn't for that, she would be dead by now. She is now thriving in Roanoke at another facility and they are taking good care of her. They changed her every day. They bathe her appropriately. They have an on-site nurse five days a week. This place is a complete joke and my mother-in-law deteriorated so fast just within a couple weeks of being there and she lasted 4 to 5 months to say the least if you're looking to save money, this place may be a little cheaper, but sometimes for a little bit more, you can find care with dignity, and the turnaround of staff was also a huge concern. They pay these people peanuts therefore they don't stay. You can even read glass door and look at reviews of former employees. I did a ton of research after all of this and should've done my way more research before I even had my sweet mother-in-law walk through the door.. these people are all about profit and it'll probably take some even bigger act of negligence for this place to get shut down at some point. I do have pictures and videos to support what I have seen. they also just covered up her sheets with her comforter when she was incontinent and messed on it and they just put a comforter over it and I caught it on the camera and they said that she didn't have an accident and I said yes, she did. I could see it clearly on the camera and you just put a comforter over and just left it instead of washing her bedding . The laziness was astounding that happened twice. . Always get a camera. If I did t " babysit" her myself, she would have been gone sooner.

Terrible experience for memory care Our experience at…read moreTruewood Memory Care was a nightmare of mismanagement and medical disregard. We moved my father here in late December 2025, and within the first week started looking for a new facility. We started here because they had no wait list. Issues: 1. Lack of Staff Training: Despite being a specialized memory care unit, the staff seemed untrained in dementia behaviors. They labeled typical symptoms like agitation, talking loudly, not following directions, or being easily distracted when someone is talking as "aggression." Instead of utilizing prescribed medications or redirection techniques, staff called the police on my agitated father. 2. Safety & Communication Failures: My father suffered two falls in the first week that led them to send him to the ER. He lived with me 3 years prior to going to this facility and never needed ER care or police escalation. After the second fall, he was in the ER for four hours without the facility ever notifying our family. We only found out when my mother arrived for a visit and found his room empty. 4. Unsanitary Conditions: On the 10th day, I found my father's bathroom sink overflowing with his own wastewater from attempting to clean up his own accident. My husband had to ask staff three times for help to get a mop to get the wastewater off the bathroom floor so I could get my dad out of the shower onto a clean floor. The following day, my sister found tubs of wastewater still left under the sink, which she had to clean herself. 5. Environment & Management: The environment is inappropriate for dementia patients. A staff member changed the main resident TV to the movie "Terminator" one evening. When I raised concerns about exposing vulnerable dementia patients to violence, I was dismissed by the care techs working there and told it was appropriate for some residents there. Ultimately, management told us he was "unsafe" and demanded we take him home immediately, despite our daily presence and constant requests for updates. Also, the first week we asked if he was appropriate for their facility because of their aggression comments and expecting someone to be with him for multiple hours a day, we were told staff were getting more training and he was appropriate. If your loved one requires dementia care that encompasses empathy, redirection, and a desire to bridge the communication gap this disease takes from your loved one look elsewhere. This facility is wholly unequipped for anything beyond basic senior living. The activities you see on the tour are strategically scheduled and the care you see on tour is vastly different from the care we have experienced. I now understand why they have no wait list.

Fortunately, my worries were completely unfounded. I came in at lunch, and chatted with the staff for a bit. They all seemed intelligent, compassionate, and helpful - they knew my grandmother (who was also visiting), greeted her by name, and were happy to see her. We went through the access-controlled door, and the residents seemed happy. The center was carpeted, there were plenty of seats people were sitting on, reading, talking with friends, etc. My grandfather was far more well-kempt than he ever was at home, and seemed in good spirits. I also loved that outside of every room, there were shadowboxes of information and memorabilia about each resident. It helps humanize each resident, even if they have advanced dementia, and I appreciated that. The staff and visitors should never forget that they're caring for engineers, doctors, soldiers, teachers, etc. Yelp's rating system says that 5 starts is "as good as it gets." I don't know if that's true here, because I don't have the experience necessary to compare. However, if you're looking for a memory care center for a loved one, be sure to check out Riverside.

Three…read moreyears in to this, I could write a book on "What to do", "What NOT to do", what are the laws, what is the norm, can you move once in a facility, levels of care, the many different type of facilities, and on an on. We started at another local facility, thought it seemed homey, and nice. Two years later, we realized it was not a caring place, but a dungeon where you put your loved one to ride out their life. Once again, we toured many places, had made a decision on one, was on the waiting list. For the first time this place came up on a search! So we went and toured it. Director and the Sales person were very nice. Accommodating, assuring, but we had already really decided on the other place. Next few days, it was heat on our minds, and we did a surprise visit back to Oak Ridge unannounced. Same thing, even better, they had a room with a lot of windows, the whole place was clean, no smell, staff was respondent, responsive, and engaged. We were shocked at how everyone there participates, in everything. The Director, Sales, Med Tech, Maintenance man, everyone is involved all day. We changed our mind and came here. One month later, could not be happier. Director Jenni runs a taught ship, she knows everything. She is out and about all day. Sale, Alexis too is either on a tour or helping residents. The place is so clean! So warm & cosy. Food is good! Plenty of activities! Everyone there is on the same page, period! I can almost start crying again, thinking back at how the other place where he came from was so disrespectful, mean, negligent, un-caring, belligerent to our loved one. Their staff lied and falsified papers, and orders to the doctors so they could get knock out pills so the residents were out by 4 pm. Biggest note I can share, put a camera in the room so you can monitor the care in the room. It may be shocking to you! Here at Oak Ridge, they encourage cameras so you a see the first class care and service being given to your loved one. Such a difference. This type of care is extraordinary! Our loved one is slowly declining, but their care there is right on every change. Their Resident Dr works great with you to understand and get what you need. Physical Therapy is awesome! I just don't know what to say. We have visited 12 facilities in the area. Most were just bad. We know that one, that if they were a pound for animals, they would be closed by the city. It is our responsibility to seek out and fine a place to care for those who mean so much to us. We thank God, for Oak Ridge, their management, their staff, physical therapy, Doctor, maintenance man, chef, all of them. They do it better than any place we could have ever imagined. Check them out if you have need for Memory Care. This isn't a doomsday end of the road, this is a country club where friends gather to enjoy life. That's about all I can say...
