Fortunately, my worries were completely unfounded. I came in at lunch, and chatted with the staff for a bit. They all seemed intelligent, compassionate, and helpful - they knew my grandmother (who was also visiting), greeted her by name, and were happy to see her. We went through the access-controlled door, and the residents seemed happy. The center was carpeted, there were plenty of seats people were sitting on, reading, talking with friends, etc. My grandfather was far more well-kempt than he ever was at home, and seemed in good spirits. I also loved that outside of every room, there were shadowboxes of information and memorabilia about each resident. It helps humanize each resident, even if they have advanced dementia, and I appreciated that. The staff and visitors should never forget that they're caring for engineers, doctors, soldiers, teachers, etc. Yelp's rating system says that 5 starts is "as good as it gets." I don't know if that's true here, because I don't have the experience necessary to compare. However, if you're looking for a memory care center for a loved one, be sure to check out Riverside.

The dining room is OK, and the food is decent. You can even find good administrative staff to help you during your stay. The problem starts when your loved one needs assistance. The caregiver team is comprised of incompetent personnel with zero empathy. They have no idea how to treat older people. I don't know what the internal problem is, but the result is clear: your loved one will NOT receive the care they need and deserve. Countless times we approached management and were left with the impression that they were going to do something to improve the situation. They never did. We paid extra to increase the level of care to match his condition, but care didn't improve. Basic care, like hygiene, went undone. More than once they forgot to take him to the dining room to eat. They would handle him, as he would say: "like a bag of potatoes." That was my experience with Legend: stressful, upsetting and sad.

Betsy was very professional and kind, the car was spotless and smoke free. Betsy accompanied me to check-in, waited for me to be released after surgery, and safely drove me home. The dining area is spacious, and meals are done "cafeteria style" where you slide your tray down the line and choose what you want. If you're on a walker, they'll bring it to your table for you. Additionally, there are plenty of activities (BINGO!) and a nice little sundries shop on the ground floor. The cost of living there includes utilities except for cable and phone. Everything else is included. The price my friend quoted was very reasonable for everything that is included. Conveniently located in North Richland Hills, Morada is near a major shopping area in the mid-cities area in Tarrant County.
