I've been coming here for years but today's experience was absolutely terrible. The music that was blaring in the store was so offensive. F it up bi@ch.. and a hundred more words I won't repeat on here pounded from the speakers in the store! I thought I was in a raunchy club! I'm glad I didn't bring my kids in the store this time. So very unprofessional. Really sad that respect is not shown to the customers. I think I would have continued to try and ignore the music but I was in total shock. Terrifying! Just saw a groomer chasing a dripping wet pup down the middle of Redondo Beach Blvd. How is that even possible to let a dog you are grooming get loose and get out of the building? I can't imagine someone coming to pickup their pet only to find out it had run into the street and been hit by a car. Ridiculously incompetent. read more

I had an horrible experience with their services for my dog! They totally transformed my dog from a beautiful fluffy dog to a thin furless poodle. I went to this place for grooming because I adopted my pet from the same. This was my second grooming session with them and they totally spoiled it on occasion of Christmas for me and my pet. I specifically mentioned "don't shave" just the normal cut and groom. They made her look like a poodle when she's a maltipoo. They have done this before to other maltipoos as well so I was afraid they'll do it to mine. I only came to this place the second time because first grooming was good but this time it was a disaster. I will NOT RECOMMEND this grooming service for maltipoos. read more

Came here initially to get flea treatment for my dog Ivy. Spoke to the guy at the counter and after a lengthy conversation, found out I was able to buy vaccinations there and administer them myself (I do work in an ER as a RN and give shots to humans for a living) so he said why not give them to my baby! The young man at the counter was soooo nice and informative! He even hand wrote a schedule of when to come back as when the next shots are due! Today, I bought another round of shots and scheduled Ivy for a grooming on Friday! I can't wait to see how they do with her! This place is so awesome I don't see myself going anywhere else! read more

I've been here once, for fish & supplies when I was starting my aquaria hobby. It was pretty disappointing. They had a wall of empty fish tanks with maybe one or two containers that had either guppies or mollies... depressing. Their supplies were decent but as any mom and pop type store, it was normally marked up compared to some of the major pet store chains. I'll probably come back to see what supplies they have for dogs whenever I'm back in L.A., but as for fish, you are better off elsewhere. read more

I bring my Yorkie here for grooming. Great price and I love the way he smells when I pick him up. The groomer always puts the cutest scarves around his neck, too. When he gets trimmed, he looks decent. If there's something not quite right, I ask that it gets corrected before I leave. The groomer takes him back with no problem. Grooming service is decent, but it was much, much better before Juan or Jose(?) left. read more

My experience here has been horrible. Please refrain from buying any animals from this place like seriously. My boyfriend and I have been eyeballing a corn snake for a while and this location had the snake we wanted as well as it being a baby so it was a win win for us . We proceeded to purchase the snake (March 18, 2021) along with asking questions about where it came from and what was the gender ... they didn't know neither. We then asked when was the next feeding and he explained that it should be the next day so we are in the clear to feed him when we get home so we purchased a pinky as well. My boyfriend and I then left home to feed him and he WASN'T budging at all . The pinky eventually ended up dying because it was in the terrarium for too long without being eaten (2 days). After those two days we went back to the pet store and bought another pinky and hes STILL NOT EATING IT . The next morning as soon as they open I call and they gave me a list of reasons why but it wasn't making no sense due to us JUST bringing him home. Soon enough later on that night my snake Bentley died . (March 21, 2021) I've seen previous reviews about them giving sick animals to customers and it's just sad and inhumane just for a . Do better as a business and please practice professionalism because it was atrocious ! After a bad experience with my previous dog groomers I needed some place to take my dog because he needed to get a bath and his nails trimmed. I've been to hills pet & feed for supplies before but never for a groom so I decided to try it out. Walking in I encountered a man that was there to pick up his cat. He was saying how great she smelled and I thought that he might be exaggerating but he was right! My miniature pincher came back to me smelling like a soft sweet baby, with his nails trimmed and a blue bow around his neck! I also purchased a blue little sweater that matched the bow! The service was great too. The man was nice and even told me that my dog had a small ear infection and recommended some ear drops to get rid of it. My doggie came home relaxed and clean. Definitely taking my dog there again next time he needs it! read more

This place is not hills pet n feed. For years as far back as I remember this was the name of this pet store. So I yelp it looking for spray I used before for fleas from my animals . Good for carpets and sofas as well. So I called is asked is this Hills they said yes I told them what I was looking for and they said yes they have it I asked the price they said $21.. so I head over and much to my surprize this store was called something else but it wasn't Hills pet n feed. But I went in to see cause I really needed this spray.. so i asked the young lady was this Hiil pet n feed she said Yes and I asked her how much the bottle was she said $29.. I turned and walked out I said they crazy as heck. Never again they don't know their name and can't read price tags I'm like no way. read more

Took my dog here on Thursday she came back and did wanna walk when she got home she went under the bed and didn't come out til that night. Friday morning I found blood all on my bed her tooth came out!! Then she stayed under the bed all Friday never even came out to drink or eat. It's Saturday morning I finally got her out for a walk to pee and poop she didn't do that either and she walked two steps and stopped I've been having to carry her so I'm taking her to the hospital now. This is where I got my first kitten! :) She was so adorable and the pricing was pretty balanced. The selection there was alright, but there weren't as many kitten things as I hoped for. Also, the fish section was pretty minimal, but they still had some variety of beta fish. The crew there were really helpful & they told me lots of things and they were super nice! I would definitely come back again to get another pet, but just a warning, if you do go there on a heavy traffic day, it is going to be tough to get in. read more

Do not buy your dog from here. I bought my Yorkie from this establishment a few year back and paid 1,300. The dog had health problems from the start. He almost died 3 days after I bought him & I had to take him back to the owner to nurse him back to health. Then I took him to get his 1st check up and shots & the veterinarian told me his knee joint was out of place. How can this be when he was a puppy & had never been outside to run or do any strenuous activity? He was only a small puppy of a few months. Also 1 of His testicles never dropped. Due to his testicle not dropping it is now is in his stomach causing him extreme pain & causing his prostate gland to enlarge. Now we have to pay for an expensive surgery to remove the testicle that is in his body and fix his knee joint. I'm not sure how they are breeding these dogs but I will never purchase an animal from this place again. Buy with caution. read more

Ok, this is probably the longest that a groomer has had my dog for. 7 hours. I repeat, 7HOURS. I stopped by at 11 in the morning and asked if they had slots open for grooming and they said yes so i left my info and paid 30$ (the basic wash) and they said they'd call me when she was ready. I usually take my pug to get groomed in anaheim however i was in the area visiting family and my grandma said they did a good job on her dogs so i figured why not.... 5 hours in i decided to give a courtesy call to see if she was ready yet and they said no she was dog #17 out of 20 that they had to do this day. They said they'll call me back once she was done. 2 hours later (6:15pm) I got a call that she was ready (yay!!) so i went to go get her and she smelled really good!!! The only thing i didnt like was that she was shedding ALOT of hair. I picked her up and hair was EVERYWHERE. I have never experienced this before after picking her up from the groomers. I also think it's because they used a powder as well. Other than that- no complaints. Smelled good and she was super clean. 3 star because it took ALL day and she was EXTREMELY shedding. Not sure if i'd come again. read more

If you go to this pet store, I would just go get feeders and maybe supplies. Otherwise do not buy animals from this store. I bought a bearded dragon here that was $300 and was not told that it had a respiratory infection. I bought her on August 29th, I called them back two days after I found out about the infection and when I got there they gave me don't medicine for its infection, which honestly doesn't make any sense that they found out it was sick and are now giving me the medicine for it. Today is Sep. 2 and the bearded dragon passed away. I did get my money back but that leaves a bad impression on the store. If the owner really saw that animal and slapped a price on it knowing it was sick he needs to be ashamed of himself. I will find another store to get my feeders and animals really shady and unacceptable. read more

Not what it used to be. I have shopped here for years, and my parents did as well for our pets. Over the years, the original owners left, and things have gone downhill since. The live aquarium selection has diminished, as well as the reptiles. I honestly didn't look, but I want to say the birds are gone too. Now days, they just have a few kittens, & even a couple of cute puppies for sale at the front of the shop. But I wouldn't buy a puppy from here. Just my personal preference of either rescuing or recommending that a person do their research and purchase from a reputable breeder. The selection of items sold are ok to me. Of course, PetSmart & PetCo will have more selection, but this place is ok if you have basic needs. Their prices are pretty reasonable...at least the last time I purchased basic rabbit pellets. I couldn't find the bedding I wanted though. Hate to say it, but Pets Plus offers better choices, & their staff are a lot more personable & knowledgeable. Plus, they will offer and also get you what you are looking for! For my terrarium and/or aquarium needs, I prefer South Bay Aquarium. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, & a vast and unique selection. The staff here at Hills barely acknowledge you. read more

On 7/3/19, I took my dog to get groomed at PetNJoy, it was an awful experience. When I got home with my dog, I noticed she couldn't keep her eye open, after examining her, I saw 2 cuts above her eye lid, the groomer did not mention this to me. I called PetNJoy the following day to talk with the groomer and I was told he wasn't there, I talked with the manager and the groomer (female) onsite and I told them what had happened and the manager said he would have the groomer personally call me. Today in 7/15/19 and no phone call. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY DOG THERE EVER AGAIN! read more

Having grown up in the area Hills Pet & Feed was the place to go to get all my pets and pet supplies. I got my first rabbit, goldfish, cat and millipede at this store. I honestly loved this store when I was younger but its' changed. It no longer carries much fish. They use to have a backroom full of tanks but they closed that room down. I thought they may have been remodeling but It's been that way for some years now. But of course this review would only apply to anyone into the hobby. If you own/want small mammals, dogs, cats, reptiles or birds I'd suggest you give this place a try. If your looking for a specific dog or cat I'm sure they'd be willing to find one for you. read more

The current owners purchase their dogs from the Victoria pound on 190th Street in Carson. I have seen them there before. Also received a cockatiel that was abused and ended up having emotional issues her whole life. Would definitely not recommend. read more

This place is not what it used to be. My daughter took our two dogs (Jada-yorkie and Baby-chihuahua mix) to be groomed today, and I'm so unhappy with the finished product of Jada. Although specific instructions were given as to how Jada's hair should be trimmed at a medium length, the end result was totally ridiculous. My poor Jada looks like a slick rat. I spoke with a floor manager who was initially sympathetic about the incident, but later replied, "The hair will grow back. If I could grow it back myself, then I would." What an unprofessional and inconsiderate statement to make to someone who has patronized your business and received inadequate service. I will not give Hills Pet'N Feed any more of my business. read more

I agreed with "Tooth P." They had a best groomer, his name is Juan, he is really good at what he's doing and really care for the animals. He once kinda scolded me for not brushing my dog's hair,my dog is poodle, so her hair gets matted if not brushing regularly, because it's painful for the dog when he wash and brush her. I haven't gone there for a few months, so I didn't know he was gone. The new groomer, although I don't think she's a new employee, butchered my dog's hair. Her ear length was uneven, overall cut was messy. Ear, anal gland cleaning were good, but really the hair cut was really bad. I could've done a better cut. The owner said Juan got offered a better opportunity. I'm happy for him, but I hope they counter offer a better deal, because I don't think I will take my dog there again. I have purchased 3 rabbits from this store. One died within a week. Whether it was from something that made it sick (rabbits have weak hearts) or from a defect from their breeder, the owner was understanding and gave me a 'credit' for the deceased rabbit. The owner even gave me a treatment for the other rabbit's sore hocks on the house! (The other rabbit is fine and healthy!) I try to support small businesses in my area. I'm not interested in Petco. I see others talk about the owners, and about the poor grooming. This is not some frou frou shop. If the owners and employees remain informative, understanding and reasonably accommodating when necessary, then this will improve business. This place has been here for years and I'd hate to see the corner turn into another strip mall. read more

I took my tuxedo cat to this place on labor day for grooming and when I picked her up i noticed blood on her and her left paw nail was missing and bleeding along with five broken teeth before I even left the parking lot. I immediately took her back in and questioned what happened to my cat and and the groomer said that he didn't know, someone put her back into her carrier bleeding with injuries. No one could answer to what happened. I had to wait till the next day to take her to the vet because they was closed for the holiday. The doctor put her on medication for the pain. A true example of animal cruelty, i will never recommend this place to my worst enemy. Their groomers SUCKS, and need to be properly trained... Do not take your pet here for grooming, why take the chance. read more
