Eric runs his business professionally and personably. He is prompt to return calls, discuss adjustments to estimates and has years of experience evident when he walks your property with you discussing your needs and wants. He and his crew have worked my 4 acres twice now- removing 4 large oaks from within 20-30 feet of my home, trimming up my driveway and trimming brush. Most recently the crew came again to trim a MONSTER triple trunk oak in my fenced garden with another oak in the back inside of it. Due to slope they needed a CAT with tracks to take brush up to the chipper as the chipper couldn't make it down-they did a great job of not destroying my dirt road and left it better than they found it. Last winter a very large tree limb fell on my roof during a bad storm. I called Eric, the owner, and their crew came out very quickly to get the tree off the roof to prevent further damage. I wanted to make sure that I won't have any more problems this winter, so I called Eric again to trim several large trees near my house. They came out this morning and worked all day to trim the trees safely. Much of the work could be done from a bucket but one of their workers, Dusty, was amazing at safely climbing a 70 foot (at least) tree to trim the top limbs. They chipped and cleaned up all the debris as well as coordinating with PG&E to temporarily remove my electric line during their work. sadly we lost a HUGE heritage oak on our property in the last storm. The tree had fallen towards the house but was stopped by another large oak. We needed to get it down fast and try and save as any of the other trees as we could. I called and left a message. Eric called me back in about an hour and came right over to have a look. He gave me an estimate and had a crew out the following morning! Eric called back to confirm the arrival of his crew. The bucket truck was run by Mark, who was very careful to save the other trees. This tree service is off the charts good. If Yelp had a 6th star they would get that! We had an urgent tree need and they were able to come in a timely manner, did more then we expected of them and were professional while here. Eric and his crew at Hilltop Tree are the best! They recently removed 19 Beetle Killed Pines that were 18-48 inch in diameter. They were the low bidder by far and did a fantastic job int both the removal and clean up. Eric had made arrangements with a shipping company in China to take the 38.5 ft long trees and had them trucked to the port in Sacramento. This saved me lots of money over the competitor's bids and the wood did not go to waste. If you have beetle kill don't even think about calling anyone but Hill Top Tree. Hilltop is the best tree service we've ever used! And, we've used quite a few around here. HILLTOP is amazing. We had a big, scary oak looming over our house. Eric came up to give us an estimate and it was clear he knew his business. His price was very reasonable, and his knowledge was far above the others that came out to bid on the job. Hilltop was awesome and did great work. We had a large oak that was dangerously intertwined in our power and telephone lines and with the help of their bucket truck, they cleaned it up and took a lot of weight off the tree to make it more safe. Eric was great to deal with, and called back promptly as well as following up to make sure we were happy. They cleaned everything up so well and the tree looks much better. Me and my mom just moved to Placerville. Our property had a lot of brush and trees that were dangerously leaning to power lines or growing dangerously close to the house. Our main concern was fire hazard so we decided to hire professionals to clear the property and build a defensible fire line. Hilltop did an amazing job clearing out the brush, cutting down and trimming large trees and disposing of branches. All the tree stumps were cleanly cut to the ground, all the branches were put through a chipper shredder, and upon our request they spread and mixed the chips with the soil using a tractor. These guys were fast and had all the right heavy duty equipment to get the job done. They showed up right at 8:00 am with all the equipment ready to go. All of the guys were seasoned professionals, very friendly and super helpful. They even took the time out of their busy day to fix and sharpen my mom's small chain saw... wow thank you! We are very glad and thankful for the job Hilltop did for us. Me and mom will use their services again in a heartbeat and will HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to everyone we know! read more

My husband and I received advanced notification that trimming of trees would be occurring within the utility easement on our property for AT&T. I do not recall notification in the past by other companies doing similar work. A cut tree limb fell on one of my large glazed ceramic pots and broke it. The owner of Hill Top was very apologetic and sent us a check covering the cost of the damaged pot and a little extra for the inconvenience. In February 2013, we hired this service to create a 100-foot defensible space around our home, remove a 25-foot dead pine tree, chip/shred the cuttings and buck any usable limbs or trunks to 16-inch lengths. Eric, the owner, provided us by email with a written bid for the work the day after seeing the job at hand. He and his foreman were back the day after we accepted the bid to mark out boundaries. He expected to finish the work in 2-3 days. His crew of 8 showed up exactly at 8:00 AM as promised, each day and ready to work on arrival. They finished the job in exactly 2-1/2 days as stated. They also cleaned up afterwards immaculately, even using a leaf blower to clear the driveway. The defensible space they created is clean and pleasant looking. They took great care to leave the land looking nice and not razed to the ground. Limbs were removed professionally and cleanly, not at all haphazardly. Eric even called us the next morning just to make sure that we were happy with his work. He and all his employees were helpful and professional. The other day my neighbor was having work done by Hilltop. I took down their phone number as we need tree service as well. Later in the afternoon I went outside to kindly let them know that I was expecting company in an hour, and if they would please move their truck and brush in order for my guests to come up to my house. I said " excuse me" several times, and no one would answer me. While walking back towards my house to get my gate remote thinking they did not hear me I overheard an employee make some filthy remarks towards me. I came back outside and an employee was at his truck next to my gate. I spoke with him, and he was polite, and honored my request. While again walking back to my home the other employee once again began his vulgar profound language towards me, not knowing that I could hear every word he was saying. I called the company, and left a message for a return call. I did receive a call back, and shared my experience with the owner who was sympathetic, and promised to speak to his employee.
