They stick to their traditional roots and put real heart into their food. The home fries are seasoned to perfection--crispy on the edges with a soft, perfectly cooked interior. While the eggs on their own are standard, pairing them with their hollandaise, Canadian bacon and an English muffin turns it into an absolute home run. The real star, though, was the pecan banana bread buttermilk pancakes. I was initially worried it would just be a lazy sprinkling of pecans on top, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The pancakes were pillowy soft with banana chunks inside, and--the ultimate game-changer--served with WARM syrup. Something so simple, yet so rare! Hats off to the chef, owner, line cook. This easily beats any over-hyped "trendy" pancake spot out there. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

WE WERE OVERCHARGED TWICE BY $10! We ordered two omelets, and our check somehow came to $45 with no itemized breakdown. When we questioned it, our server--a petite brunette woman who appeared to be in her late 20s to early 30s--insisted it was correct. After we pushed back, she claimed she had confused our order with a different omelet. There isn't a single omelet on the menu that costs anywhere close to $22 each, and that excuse makes even less sense considering we were the only customers there. She adjusted the bill to $35, but the total should have been less than that as well. Even then, the tax was still wrong. On top of that, they added a credit card fee without any notice. There was no sign, no mention on the menu, and no warning beforehand. The food was just as disappointing. The home fries were mushy and barely edible. Despite overcharging us more than once, our server NEVER APOLOGIZED! Hidden fees, inaccurate charges, terrible service, and mediocre food--this place is a rip-off, and we definitely won't be back.

As other reviewers have noted, the cafe's menu is a little all over the place HOWEVER, the food is made to order and absolutely delicious! We both ordered chicken & rice (arroz con pollo). It came with refried beans & a side salad. I ordered the Berry smoothie and my fiance ordered a tropical smoothie. We decided to dine in as there is seating inside and we were in no rush. The two women working were incredible sweet and accommodating. After ordering, we chose a table and one of the woman brought us fresh chips & salsa while our food was being cooked. We both got the smallest smoothie size (16 ounces) and it was more than enough & very filling. There are a lot of smoothie options. They have pre-selected choices but allow flexibility. You can substitute almost anything & you pick the base of your smoothie (almond milk, yogurt, regular milk, orange juice, etc.). After about 10-15 minutes our food was served (brought to the table for us so we wouldn't have to get up). The chicken and rice was SO flavorful and cooked to perfection. Side salad & beans were great too! The customer service was also a huge plus. I didnt feel rushed or uncomfortable and they did not even make us pay until after we were done eating! They have a fairly large menu with lots of options , fresh juice, smoothies, and frozen yogurt. The place is a hidden gem on Post Ave and definitely a different/better option then typical fast food/chain restaurants. We will return!!

The place is ultra small and easy to miss on Post Ave. Inside, it's not huge but they have a bunch of tables and their lighting is pretty good. So I grabbed one of their menus that they had by the cash register and took a look. I was impressed because their prices seemed very reasonable. Key word being 'seemed'. I decided to order their enchiladas platter with red sauce, which was listed at $14. Unfortunately, when I went to pay for my meal, I was told that the menus were old, and that the real price for the meal was closer to $20. I might've even paid more than that with tax included; don't remember 100%. But that was very disappointing. I told the young lady who was working there that they price was listed at $14 on their own menu; she responded that the correct price was listed somewhere on their board. Though I'm pretty sure it was unintentional, I felt a bit duped. Anyways, I took my food back home to see how it was. I couldn't help but to compare this enchilada platter to the one offered at Little Mexico about a block away cause they offer the same thing. So, first off, Little Mexico gives you a ton of chips and salsa when you order a platter from them. This was not present at Juicebox. The platter at Little Mexico definitely gives you more food overall. Anyways, I dug in, and the platter from Juice Box wasn't bad. The flavor was pretty good and there wasn't anything too offensive about it, but unfortunately it just pales in comparison to the enchiladas at Little Mexico. I couldn't help but to be disappointed that the enchiladas platter at Juicebox was less food, no chips, tasted worse, and was more expensive. The enchiladas platter at Little Mexico comes out to about $17-18 after tax. So those were my thoughts overall. So that was my experience with Juicebox Cafe. I might give it another shot in the future cause it's close to my home, but I don't feel inclined to, especially after the pricing debacle I experienced and the price I paid didn't seem justified.

I chose the hibiscus passion fruit juice ($6.00) and it was a whole quart! The food was very flavorful and delicious. The ox tail fell right off the bone and was so tender. The Mac n cheese was very good too. The portions were a really good size and definitely worth it. There are a few tables right in front of the Gretel and Sons counter and we ate there. Many regulars stopped by and I could completely see why. Staff were very friendly and hospitable. I can't wait to come back!

That being said, on September 23rd I was in search of something new and exciting and I was guided to Thomas's Ham & Eatery. I have passed Thomas's Ham & Eatery over a dozen times, and thought that the parking lot was rather small so I just kept it moving. Driving into the confined area, I found parking immediately with room to spare. Stepping inside of Thomas's Ham & Eater, a wave of happiness hit me--bright, sudden, and uplifting, like the effervescence from a freshly popped bottle of champagne. The happy atmosphere of the dining area was so contagious I immediately followed suit and put on a happy face. Looking around the restaurant and soaking it all in , I saw tons of people enjoying their meal while listening to groovy sounds such as; The Eagles - Peaceful Easy feeling, Bonnie Tyler- Total Eclipse of my heart, and so much more, but I got overly excited when Elton John & Kiki Dee's- Don't Go Breaking My Heart came on. I was in full sing along mode as I was seated. Now, I would love to talk about the food and service. The restaurant was clean and tables were freshly wiped. My waitress provided impeccable service as she stayed in catering mode. She supplied everything that I needed with kindness and passion. She was very patient and did not mind coming back to see when I was actually ready to order after looking over the menu. I went totally off the grid and ordered Cajun Omelette. It consisted of Louisiana Andouille Sausage (LAS), Tomato, Scallions & Green Peppers, and served with Home Fries & Toast- $16.45. Despite the small amount of LAS, the omelette was a grand slam. I really enjoyed it, the home fries had a few peppers and onions and just enough burn to let you know that they were not entirely overcooked but you will have that crunch. I did ask for lite butter on the rye toast, instead I received enough butter to lubricate bicycle gears, I scrapped it off and kept it moving, no harm no foul, keeping a positive vibe. The coffee was just as good and I really enjoyed it as well. I give Thomas's Ham & Eatery 3 1/2 stars but the atmosphere and tone boosts it up to 5 stars, I will definitely be returning for another HAPPY MEAL! Inspire more, Yelp more!
