I talked my hubby's ear off after my first time at HIIT lab. I don't think I've ever been enthusiastic about a hard workout and trust me, I've tried them all. I liken HIIT lab to Orangetheory or Basecamp Fitness with a little more humanity. There's also this subtle women's empowerment thing going on which I SO appreciate. Workout: this, unsurprisingly, is a HIIT lab which basically translates to high intensity cardio and strength intervals. It's hard, but very doable truly for all fitness levels. You set your pace and choose your weights so ultimately you're just striving for your own personal best. Also the intervals are short which makes me put it all out there. I've gone twice now and the longest run was 3 minutes and the longest sprint was 45 seconds. You got this! Amenities: TOWELS small gesture, but goes a long way... because I will always forget to bring my own. They also have a water refill station which is also necessary. But my fave are the lockers; they have a charging USB ports in them! How smart is that?! Just bringing your cable and charge your phone while you work out. And lastly, they offer playcare for the parents during certain popular class times. I'm not a mother yet but this strikes me as so thoughtful! Atmosphere: I've had Cathy and Callison thus far as my instructors and they both made me WORK while being super encouraging. I never once felt less than if I had to lower my tread speed or swap out for lighter weights. I also love that the classes aren't jam packed - space to move around a bit and you get quite a bit of personal attention too. Overall - I'm a huge fan of HIIT Lab, so much so that I'm considering canceling classpass for an unlimited membership. Working out here for the last 2 years has motivated me on so many levels, specifically mentally. The intensity of the workouts are second to none. I used to belong to Orange Theory, CrossFit, and general gyms and I have not enjoyed my workouts like I have at HIIT Lab in over 10 years. The workouts and the caliber of coaching makes it oh so easy to come back day after day. The one drawback of this place is I leave very stinky and drenched in sweat but is that really a drawback? J/K. If you want a workout where you sweat each time and leave feeling positive about everything, this is your place. Took my first class at the HIIT Lab in West Seattle. Super easy to find and plenty of parking, which is pretty rare these days! I went in and was greeted at the front desk with the standard paperwork to complete before I could participate. After the paperwork, I was given a tour of the gym. The locker room is pretty big, with plenty of changing space if needed. There are lockers that lock with your own combination and cubby holes if you just want to leave your stuff there. There are two showers which were plenty big with nice counters in case you need to get ready for work or change after class. In that same locker area, there is a child care place, but there were no kids there when I went. The workout room itself is interesting. The lights are purple/violet and it's dark in there. One side of the room has side by side treadmills and the other side of the room boasts mirrors, the TRX handles and dumbbell towers. I thought it might be cool to wear glow in the dark clothes! The workout is good. Lots of treadmill work, which I wasn't used to. I'm sure they mix it up and am looking forward to another class. read more

My partner and I - two people who could not approach fitness more differently - both absolutely adore HIIT Lab. He appreciates how challenging the workouts are and how he's still (a year and a half after our first class) sore after each class. I appreciate that the very first thing Cathy told me was that I should measure my progress against myself and nobody else. She meant that! I still feel that way!  We both appreciate how forward-thinking Cathy and her team are. They fight tooth and nail for social justice. They use data and science to figure out how to safely have group classes during a pandemic. They take their roles as instructors and community leaders seriously and it shows in their willingness to adapt (so. much. adapting) and always do the right thing. OK SO, THIS REVIEW IS ~SERIOUS~ BUT I WANT TO EMPHASIZE THAT THE CLASSES ARE FUN!! They're fun and I hate moving so, so, so much (you know those nightmare floating pods in WALL-E? This place is awesome! So many things to love about it! The people are amazing and the inclusive community Cathy and her staff creates is second to none! Thru covid they have taken every precaution to keep everyone safe but also staying open so we have a place to get a great workout! Lots to like about HIIT Lab: New facility, same great workout! WORKOUT: 50% of the time on treads, 50% off doing high-intensity bursts of weight training and body-weight exercises. Active time is ~40 minutes, not including the warm-up and stretching cool-down. Lots of incline running, low-rep As-Many-Rounds-As-Possible (AMRAPs) circuits, and TRX exercises. 1-week trial is a great way to see if the workout is right for you. TRAINERS: Great! Happy to help you scale up/down as needed. Good, trainer led warm-up and post-workout stretching sessions. CROWD: Crowd tends to be 25 to 35-year olds and skews female. Workout is great for anyone, and can easily be scaled to your needs (lighter weights, faster on the tread, etc.) EQUIPMENT: Shiny and new! Probably the best maintained equipment I have ever seen. LAYOUT: Everyone gets their own station: tread in front, personal weights and bands behind, and a rubberized workout space in between. Lockers, plush showers (almost always available!), and restrooms in back. Childcare area, too, for weekend classes. PARKING: Private lot along side of building. No garage, fees, or other hassles. Just remember not to park where newly installed signs say "Enterprise only" (opposite HIIT Lab). Have never had a problem finding a space. PRICE: Lots of options, ranging from 1-time drop-in, to 10-packs, to monthly unlimited and annual memberships. Packs never expire, so great for people who travel for business. Most sessions are available through ClassPass as well. Highly recommend. Happy 3-year anniversary! read more

I have been going to HIIT Lab for several years - before COVID, during COVID and after COVID. I keep going back because it gives me exactly what I need: someone to tell me what to do every morning instead of me having to figure it out at a gym. The group classes have a personalized feel even though it is not personal training. The workouts always have a cardio component and a strength component. You can set your own challenge level for either. Some days I go for the max and other days I go to stay fit. It seems to be a formula for people that is working. HIIT Lab is attracting more clients and has a new location. Be sure to sign up for classes at least the day or two before. The classes max out at 20 people. The West Seattle location and new Central District look different but have all of the same good basic elements. Friendly instructors, clean dressing / changing area, bathrooms, towels, mats, and the equipment you need for the day. read more

No class is the same at HIIT Lab; I've attended morning and evening clases within the same week and it's clear the instructors intentionally switch up each class. One thing is a guarantee: you will sweat! HIIT Lab provides such great workouts that get your heart racing and strengthen your muscles. I am lucky this place is close to my house, but even if it wasn't, I'd make the drive. Each instructor is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. It is evident that the owner, Cathy, is committed to making a fun, welcoming atmosphere, and most importantly: an effective workout. The music is great and pushes me to run faster. Other reviewers have hi(i)t all the key points below (hah). The studio was very well thought out and I am impressed by everything from the high end runner-focused treadmills, to the water bottle filler, to the charging plugs in the lockers. The investment in good equipment is clear. For me, the 5am classes are wonderful - so few places have classes I can get to before work. I found my first class to be both challenging and extremely motivating. That's the beauty of the HIIT workout .. you go as hard as you want/can and you're competing against yourself. You never know what the next class will bring - Kettlebells, TRX, Hill sprints, etc. "You can do anything for 30/45/90 seconds!" I love that I can schedule my classes through the Mind Body Online app, too. 4 months after starting at HIIT Lab, I am still enjoying and challenged by their classes! HIIT Lab and its amazing staff have been an integral part of my fitness and weight loss journey. To date I've lost 25 pounds, decreased my 1 mile time by more than three minutes and sprint around the "track" at a pace I haven't hit in 10 years. After living in West Seattle for years, I am so thrilled HIIT Lab has joined the neighborhood. West Seattle was very much lacking an alternative to the large box gyms. HIIT is not only a GREAT workout, but the instructors are incredible. The classes are 1/2 cardio (on treadmills or bikes) and 1/2 weight/resistance training using a mix of body weight, TRX, and kettle bells. The 60 minute workouts are different every single day. At other gyms I've seen instructors rush through explaining exercises and not bother to pay attention or correct poor form. This is never the case at HIIT - not only are the instructors well experienced, but they make sure to explain each exercise throughly to ensure everyone is working out safely. And because the classes are small (no more than 20 people per class), the instructors are able to pay attention to every person and offer corrections and encouragement to each individual. I've spent years taking group classes at big box gyms, and I've worked with personal trainers in the past. I can honestly say this is the closest you'll come to having your own personal trainer while in a small group environment. Try out HIIT and support this awesome local business! read more

Pump up music and ambiance, clear instruction that challenges us but didn't kill us, vibe to prove to ourselves that we can achieve more out of our workout instead of trying to work towards body image. Wished the music was louder for the majority of the instruction - the instructor kept changing the volume so we could hear her - should get a better mic. Cathy has created an amazing gym, strong brand, and inspiring fitness community in West Seattle. The team here aren't about sticking you on an optical for 10 minutes, running you through a basic circuit, and taking your money as I've seen in so many traditional 'big box' gyms. They're firm and encouraging while putting you through your paces. The self-paced workouts stretch you and in turn offer excellent results and value for money. Along with the top notch equipment, location, and service. Cathy has assembled a team of excellent trainers who honestly care about your lifestyle goals. Such a great local studio that has everything you need. Amazing coaches (Cathy is AWESOME!) and a beautiful space. Clean space, great decor as well as functional and fun equipment. Love the HIIT style classes that always have appropriate warm up and cool downs. I always get a great sweat in and choose my own intensity but always feel encouraged by the coaches to push it a little further than if I were working out on my own. Exactly what I was looking for! I agree with all the other reviewers in terms of the excellence of the HIIT studio, workouts, and instructors. Unlike many of the other reviewers, though, I am not someone who has always worked out, so I was intimidated when I first started HIIT classes. I am here to tell you that the HIIT Lab is a really encouraging and supportive environment. The instructors know everyone by name and pay attention to the progress we are making. They are genuinely happy and proud when we cut down run times or increase the number of sit ups we can do, for example. I am sometimes in awe of the people around me and strive to push myself harder, but I've never once felt judged by anyone there. I feel like a new person- not because I've lost weight but because I know I am stronger and feel like I can take on anything. read more

Excellent class. The trainers really know what they're doing and are always willing to answer any questions you have. They suggest how you can modify this class to suit your goals. This class combines cardio and strength training. I think this class really boosts your strength and technique. The music that plays through the class is so lively and fun! They also have an intro special which is 15bucks for unlimited access for a week which is great because is allows you to see if the class suits your needs. The cherry on top is the location, We just moved to west seattle in November only to be pleasantly surprised by HIIT lab being right opposite to where we live! I'll keep going back! read more
