everything bagel with cream cheese, egg and bacon

the service is quick and reliable, the bagels taste so homemade it hits the spot! The ambiance is calming.

Still hot they steamed up the plastic container!

The owners of this establishment are very nice. #supportlocal We've been frequenting this place for years (I'm surprised I never did a review). Their bagels are good and get there early or your desired bagel may be out of stock. Every time we have family visiting from Boston, they absolutely love Hightstown Bagel. In fact, my brother-in-law ends up getting bagels here several mornings in a row, because my 12 year old niece is a huge fan. This morning, I needed a dozen bagels to drop off at a friend's whose father passed. Although, they didn't have any platters on hand, they were able to find a nice container. It made the porch drop off look so much better than brown bags. My friend and her family thought they were "yummy" and wanted to know where I purchased them. Thank you Hightstown Hot Bagel for more happy customers!!

Bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel, ehh. Not the best I've had.

This used to be my bagel place of choice but I go elsewhere now. The bagels are average, not bad but not great. I also feel like their bagels are kind of small in comparison to other bagel places. Recently I had to head that way in the late morning. They had like 4 bagels left at 10:30 am -- thankfully I got one of the last! I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on a sesame bagel with salt pepper and ketchup and it was not good unfortunately. The bacon was fatty and the sandwich didn't seem like it had a lot of egg and barely any ketchup. I paid about $4.50 for it and it just wasn't worth it. However, the staff is always pleasant. I'm sure I'll be back out of convenience, but it's not my first choice in town.

They have the BEST chocolate milk, per my 6&8 yr old Niece and nephew... lol Seriously I LOVE their bagels, so much that I transported a dozen back to Arizona with me!

Bagels are standard but their quality isn't the best. Decided to change it up and go with hightstown bagels, I had used to go here every weekend but then we changed it up with a different bagel place. The quality of the bagels were just ok, they were usually a little harder than normal and didn't have as many types as other places would. I got the everything bagel with lox and cream cheese. First off they were very generous with the lox which I appreciated ! The bagel was ok, it was a little harder than expected like the type that could cut the roof of your mouth. As well as the everything was heavier on the garlic to the point where if I closed my eyes I'd think it was primarily a garlic bagel. For bagel places this place isn't bad definitely if convenient a great place to go to!

Cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter

The bagels here are alright at best. I got a bagel with cream cheese and a bagel with peanut butter and it cost me $6. There was barely any cream cheese/peanut butter on them, and they were out of blueberry bagels by 10am. The only reason for the 2nd star is because they accept credit cards, which is nice.

Blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese

These bagels are perfect! Crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside and toasted to perfection. I called ahead to make sure they accepted credit cards (they do) and that there's no minimum (there isn't). My best friend is allergic to eggs so I stuck with the basic bagels with cream cheese and couldn't be happier. The service was fine and I was out the door fast. Since I'm local, I'll be back

Their daily homemade soup menu is worth a look, with veggie and vegan options across the big board. Combo soup and sandwich is also in play. I went with a Tuna Hoagie on foot long torpedo, with accompanying soft drink and bag o' chips. The tuna was freshly made, with tomato and lettuce, and a side cup of sliced dill pickles that I stuffed into the sandwich for extra crunch and semi sweet flavor enhancement. I had requested that the proposed pickle spear not be built into the sammy to avoid dampening the roll too long before consuming. The cashier/order taker/short order cook took care of business with a pleasant smile and engaging repartee. Ate when I arrived home 40 minutes later, and everything was in great shape and quite tasty. I could only finish half of the meal. A larger selection of drinks and chips would make the experience more complete. 4 P'ton Stars for taking this tradition on the road.

Should I have called the restaurant? By the time we got our order and realized the cookie was missing- the restaurant had closed and we left the next day. I would reconsider ordering take out from this restaurant unless you can be assured that the individuals packing it can count. They also neglected to include utensils. Not sure if this is a door dash issue- but one would think that a to go order to a hotel would warrant a few plastic utensils. They are usually included in my take out order at my local Panera- but why should restaurant chains have any consistency? I would avoid this branch. The only positive was the hot temperature on the soup- but that I attribute to the fantastic door dash driver we had.

Our drinks (pear-licious martini and appletini) were good but filled so full that there was spillage on the bottom of the glass when they were served. I had the goat cheese poppers which were delicious, as was the apple salad that accompanied them. I also had a side - apples Brussels sprouts, butternut squash & celery root - a fabulous combination that I thoroughly enjoyed. The others in my party had a burger (too well done but ok) and rare seared tuna (yummy) with the same veggie side. For dessert, we tried 3: warm chocolate chip cookies (very good), baklava (ok), and espresso creme brûlée (good). We had espresso and coffee as well - which were both accompanied by biscotti which went home for a morning snack. Our reservation was 7p on a Thursday near Christmas. The place was packed with lots of larger parties and what appeared to be a holiday party. So it was LOUD and hard to hear each other speak. As the crowd thinned out, it got much better.

The omelette was a bit dry, and it wasn't really my favorite. The sausage was nice and snappy though. One of my friends got the eggs Benedict which she thought was alright. Desserts were shared around the table: carrot cake, cannolis and blueberry pie. The taste was a bit artificial and each dessert was very dry. Despite having a large party, the dessert was not finished. I like how there's plenty of parking in the back. I believe this diner has been open for quite some time. I'm not sure if it's bc when we came here it was a holiday weekend and it was super busy, but everything to me just was a bit subpar.

There is all your usual stuff that you'd expect to find at any diner. From your sandwiches, omelettes, crepes, typical deserts such as cake and pie, to just about anything else you'd expect to find on a menu for a diner. The service was overall fine but nothing super special but it still is a decent diner to go to for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is better to go around dinner time because then they give you complimentary garlic knots which are delicious. And the televisions they have around the diner are also nice to watch too so you don't feel bored. The only major criticisms I have is that there are times when there are tables that are still very dirty rather its from dirty dishes or too much dust lying around the diner. Another criticism is that the deserts maybe dry from sitting in the fridge too long which is disappointing because they look delicious. The final criticism is that it can be noisy too inside when its always busy. But that is expected as that happens anywhere. In the end, its a solid diner to go to. But it's not the best diner out there as there are plenty other better options for food and to hang out.
