Wow! If you want to find a store with unhelpful staff, limited Organic Options, and you like…read morepaying more than Whole Foods or Fresh Market for the same or similar items, then the Stonington Big Y is for you! What an absolute joke! I know inflation is through the roof and Supply Chain is overburdened, but compare most of this Big Y's items to the same item at Whole Foods or any other store and it is considerably more.

I don't think I've ever written a review for a grocery store but this place came through for us…read moretwice on vacation so here we are! We had a large crowd to feed after a long day at the beach and just wanted a few party side pizzas. We called around to all of the local pizza places and Big Y was the only place that would do them without 6 hours notice. We wouldn't have even thought of them but a local recommend we call them. We saved at least $100 by ordering here. Their party size cheese(40+ pieces) was the same prices as the large cheese pizzas that only had 10 slices at two other local pizza places. Another evening we decided we wanted lobsters. Called Big y to check prices and they were able to do 6 steamed lobsters 20 minutes after we called! We grabbed some, oysters, corn and potatoes and we were devouring our amazing meal less than an hour later for a fraction of what it would have cost to eat lobster out for 7 people. The steamed lobsters stayed very hot in the bags while we prepped our other food. The groceries may be a little pricier than average here but check out the extras that they offer for sure!

The bride and I planned a pit stop on our way back from a wedding on the cape and thanks to Yelp,…read morewe found this fantastic restaurant which is located just outside of the busy downtown area. Fairly busy Sunday afternoon but we were quickly seated at the raw bar with a great view of the kitchen, which BTW is a well oiled machined and fun to watch, not quite as crazy as the Bear, but impressive. Tuna tartar to start followed by some delicious cherrystones then we split the Mussels in coconut milk with lemon grass and cilantro and some amazing sour dough bread for dipping. 10/10!!!

We had the request in the notes of our reservation, so it's a shame they didn't have it set up for us when we walked in or at least upon sitting down. There's no kids menu, and the regular menu is very limited if you have a child with a food allergy. My son has an egg allergy, and there were barely any options for him. There wasn't even a simple chicken option on the menu. We ultimately settled on a grilled cheese because it was essentially the only thing that worked, and no one offered to modify something or suggest another option that could accommodate him. The service overall wasn't particularly attentive, which made the limited options even more frustrating. Unfortunately, the food itself also didn't live up to the hype for us. I understand not every restaurant caters specifically to families, but a little more attentiveness and willingness to accommodate a child with a food allergy would have gone a long way. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for families with young kids or dietary restrictions.

The steamers and raw oysters were so delicious - definitely recommend getting these to start. The freshness can't be beat! The views by the window were gorgeous and we ordered a bottle of sauvignon blanc with dinner and watched the sun go down - was pleasantly surprised the mark up on the bottle wasn't higher. My linguine and clams were so yummy - generous with the clams which I was happy to see. My husband enjoyed his steamed lobster - not cheap, but quality and they crack it for you for an extra $5. Skipped dessert because we were so full but their espresso was nice and strong. Would love to come back and sit outside next time!

The waitress took about 20 mins to get to our table right before happy hour ended, even though it was not busy at all. The oysters were big and tasted really good! The main dish came out in another 25 mins and it was good, but not as good as I last remembered. Overall the happy hour oysters are a great deal. The mains dishes were a little more overpriced for what you get. Staff and service was unfortunately very slow. Not disappointed with the experience, but expected a little bit more from this place.
