We first mosied towards the quiet bar but located a table on the way; next to us, Jill, friendly as any hostess, was creating an artsy Halloween backdrop to enhance her area. Andater, she even shared a warm slice of the day's special, a cheesy chicken-broccoli flatbread pizza. (So good, after we ordered one for home!) Her bartender-server colleague Melissa also stood out; fielding questions, taking our order, and even crafting a unique Hot Toddy and Gin-Lime Martini. Then the dishes started: first, a steaming bowl of really decent chowder; then Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens for hot sides; with a chilled mixed greens side salad drenched in a light champagne vinegarette - and ample enough to satisfy a small family! The highest accolades, however, aside from the hospitality, go to the kitchen for their tender Buttermilk Fried Chicken, just as tantalizing as it gets! And Kitchen guru Tom was overjoyed to hear how superb we found all his dishes. So we all lingered, ate and chatted till the proverbial cows came back.
