Wine cellar

We made a quick stop to see what they had to offer. Sampled a few wines for free and ended up buying a white sweeter wine. Cute gift shop and check out the downstairs wine cellar. You can even buy a glass of wine and enjoy drinking it in the cellar. Very friendly staff as well.

I visited Highland Manor Winery one gloomy Saturday morning with a group of 12 other ladies. There was only one employee there that day, but she handled it like a pro! She said that there are only 4 people employed there, so this is a small operation. She took us on a tour of the winery, though she said that she usually doesn't give tours. It was pretty obvious that she didn't know too much about how the wine was made or what went on in the back, but she was friendly enough. The tasting, of course, was the best part! She was incredibly patient while we tasted all of the wines that they have to offer. I picked out 3 to purchase: Highland Sunset, Royal Rose and Muscadine. They're all sweet wines, which is all that I drink. There is supposedly a waiting list to get the Muscadine, however she was able to sell us each a bottle, if we wanted. Maybe the waiting list is something they say exists so that people will buy it or it will be more popular. Either way, it's good wine, and I'm glad that I was able to purchase a bottle. The prices are reasonable, and you can see the range on their website. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area, though it is a bit in the middle of nowhere for city folk like me.

I've been there & "The Sawbriar" Highland Manor Winery was very memorable. The food was good. The service was good & they had live music.

When we arrived there was an…read moreolder gentleman in a rocking chair on the front porch who welcomed us and our dog to the winery. It just made the start very inviting. I know he might not always sit outside, but it felt like a classic homey winery out in the country of Tennessee. The owner and his boxer dog, Daisy, welcomed us in for a tasting. I'm not sure what other winery you are going to find a warm, talkative man wearing overalls with that country twang. Love it! On to the wine: First started with his cider - good, but I'm just more into wines! Ol' Black Izzy - a blackberry blend wine - thought it was very good! Mule Shoe Muscadine - very good! Rubark - it was good, but not my favorite, could definitely taste spices to this wine Niagara - just okay to me Granny's Concord - good Northfield Red - cranberry wine that was good Bubble Mule - sparkling muscadine - fantastic Shag Nasty - sparking red - fantastic I obviously loved the sweet sparkling wines, but really there was not one wine where I could not finish the tasting, they were all drinkable - maybe not loveable, but I did like each and every one of them. We left with four bottles - both sparkling wines, muscadine, and ol' black izzy. I would highly recommend coming here for the hospitality and of course, the wine. Love this place!

Situated on a beautiful homestead, we walked in and met Mark, the owner and life-long resident of the property. He was engaging and gracious, allowing us to sample his wines. His selections vary from grape based wine, to Muscadine wines and ciders. We lingered and sipped a couple of glasses of his dry red wine and "Sammygria" with Mark during a strong thunderstorm, which made the visit even more memorable.
