We have been using Highland Bark for 5-6 years to care for our cats while on vacation. Ellen Monocroussos is highly professional and has always done her job in the most conscientious manner. This year she exceeded even the high expectations I have come to expect from her and Highland Bark. We had been on vacation for 3 weeks in Paris. Our hotel had lost its internet/WIFI due to a problem with the service provider. As a result, I could only check my mail once in the morning and once in the evening. About 3 days before we were to come home, I received a message from Ellen that one of our home fire alarms was beeping every 45 seconds and that it was frightening our pets. Although it was 11:30 pm in California, Ellen and I texted about various things she could try in the morning, including turning off the power to the alarms from the breaker box. That day, she and I texted off and on. Unfortunately, the fire alarm could not be turned off even at the breaker box. The next morning, I wake with a message telling me that the City was going to resurface our road and all vehicles left on the street were to be towed. This was again around 11:30 pm in Los Angeles and the cars were scheduled to towed at 6 am Los Angeles time. In addition, the cats were very traumatized from the constant beeping from the errant fire alarm. She agreed to come to the house at 5:30 am to move the cars and to let in a good friend of ours that was going to try to fix the fire alarm. We came home the next day to find all in order. It was like the emergency of the previous days never happened. I offered to pay her extra for her troubles but she declined. Entrusting our four-legged fur baby to someone new was not an easy process. She is the most loving, wonderful companion, but even after ten years of living a life of luxury, she still retains a few of her street dog ways when meeting new people and sometimes dogs. From the moment I met Highland Bark-owner Ellen, I knew we had found the right fit for her. Ellen, and later one of her team members Adriana, took such wonderful care of our girl. They safely matched her with, and introduced her to, other four-legged pals with whom she would happily go on group walks, and they gave her the much-needed exercise we couldn't give her on long days at work. They also helped us through several major life changes including a new baby in the house and listing our home. We knew that we could count on Ellen and team to show up when they said they would; and they were able to work with us on days when our schedules required special accommodations. We had Ellen watch our cats while we went out of town for a long weekend and she was incredible! I am an extremely anxious cat mom and I felt very happy with her watching my babies. There was a problem with our smart lock (that was completely my fault) and she took every step to try and fix it on her end and work out a solution that worked for us. She sent cute photos, gave me updates, and made me feel okay with leaving them. She must be a cat whisperer too because by the third day of her visiting our shy boy Tuna (who NEVER comes out of hiding around others if we're not there) actually came out and let her pet him! Besides Niko always having a great time and coming back tuckered out from all of the play, Highland Bark is always professional and adds the x tra touch of leaving a note letting you know how the day went. They also are so great about accommodating special requests, many times we have needed Niko to be walked at a certain time of day or add a day and they always come through and are extremely responsive. We call Highland Bark every time we go out of town and every time they manage him beautifully. And they even manage me beautifully! I always worry and they are always very calm and professional. Our most recent trip out of town was especially difficult for our cat and they put in extra hours (I paid them of course! I would never just expect extra hours) and they did anything they could to help us. They provided excellent dog-walking and feeding care to our 17-year-old mini dachshund who was difficult to engage and even a little dazed when they entered her life.
