Well what a let down, the starter was more smoked salmon than o have ever seen anywhere. Wrapped with cheese. However I am a little bit of a connoisseur in this area, and it was very average smoked salmon. Just goes to show that quantity doesn't really mean too much. Main was sea bass baked. Which was lovely but the salad was off. My friend had the garlic pizza bed, which we made the waiter eat. It coule be used in the nhs as an antimucolant. We just couldn't swallow it. Amazing dry technology there, they should patent it. Other than that the drinks were ok, the pub itself is lovely and has two dogs walking up and down begging for food. I will be back for beers but maybe the food can go a miss.

We searched Yelp/Open Table and yes TripAdvisor and based on Open Table reviews, it is a pub and they had 7:30 PM open, we decided to try the New Inn. I don't know what The Old Inn was like but you should really avoid this place for food. Drinks and beer are fine. Food, not so much. When we arrived at the pub it was very lively - great. looked like we caught them by surprise however. we were told by the bartender/hostess that they "...hadn't had a busy Friday night in forever..." should have been my cue to exit but we persevered. 3 of us had the fish and chips - the batter was almost a half an inch thick. sort of like an over done crusty waffle. the fish inside was moist and well cooked but the batter had some sort of cinnamon, ginger bread cookie flavor. not edible. the chips were fine - hard to mess them up. my daughter had a flatbread pizza. it was mostly tasteless - tasted like you were eating a loaf of bread. except for the balled up parts at the edges where the dough was raw and gushy. YUCK........ and to top things off, when my daughter went to the restroom, there was a drunk guy in the ladies room. Needless to say, this is a pub for drinks with friends only, eat at home or somewhere else in St John's Wood.

I secured a reservation for a classic room @105 pounds per person that included a full Ramsay style breakfast. We stayed two nights. Having stayed six nights in South London, I splurged on our last two nights in Camden before returning to Florida. My 13 year old daughter and I enjoyed two regal nights in this authentically designed and decorated room located just above the impeccable dining experience York & Albany. Our room overlooked the skylight above the dining room, granting us a bird's eye view of the plates below. I felt perfectly situated. No detail of the townhouse is overlooked. The key and lock seemed to be original to the late 18th century building. The crown molding throughout made me feel like a princess. All of the windows opened, even in the large bathroom, three steps below the bed and dressing areas. The wardrobe came from the same period with a mirrored front and wood hangers. I could imagine myself a Duke being dressed by a valet. Downstairs, at a table just outside the restaurant, I enjoyed a glass of wine, watching for my friends from South London on the C2 to join us for a stroll to the London Zoo. It was a glorious day. The service at York & Albany is sincere and friendly. I enjoyed my first pimm while I munched on tiny fried whitetail fishes. OMG keeps coming to mind. I'll dream of returning for years to come.

Staying at one of the nine lodges for a night was a highlight of our London trip for my 6 year old…read moretwins. We went on a family night in August. (There are also adult only nights). You can check in to your bungalow and then join the group for a glass of prosecco (and juice for the kids). Two guides give your group a tour after the zoo is closed before dinner and you get to feed some of the animals. Then we had a great dinner which included a vegetarian option and I really appreciated that they also let me preorder a kid meal which my boys gobbled. Wine was for purchase and the dinner was very good. Towards the end of dinner, the guides invited the children to another room to decorate T-shirt's. Nice idea but they fibbed to the kids and told them that they would give extra markers with the T-shirt's so they could finish in the evening and my kids were pretty disappointed that they didn't follow through with the silly markers so that was a little odd. After dinner, we did a nocturnal tour and feed other animals that normally sleep during your typical daytime zoo visit. In the morning, we had a good English breakfast and more tours before the zoo opened. The 2 guides in the morning (a man who stayed overnight and a women with children of their own) were much much friendlier than the 2 younger women tour guides from the night before. The experience was not cheap but it was memorable and the cottages were comfortable and the food was good so I found this to be a value. The only improvement would be an earlier check in.

My friends who live in London were variously in India and laid up with flu. I quickly scored a room at this place online after a panicked search, and after a short and rather beautiful late afternoon cab ride from Swiss Cottage I walked through the pretty Victorian doors to a warm and friendly reception from Norah, went to my clean and cozy little room to unpack to the sounds of the TV, and took a long walk to Archway enjoying the architecture and charm of the high street. The free English breakfast was tasty but three times too big, not a problem I object to, so I spirited it off with me and it sustained me all day. Chris, the morning receptionist, told me how to get the bus for Notting Hill (where I had arranged to stay the next day), and I ended up so happy with the place that I booked additional days there for when I get back from France later this week. Enough autobiography; check this place out.

I love it when food is free. :) You have a choice of a full English or continental breakfast. Go with the full English, as the continental is just cereal or oatmeal with some toast. Their full English is really good. Did I mention it's free? - Great location as it's right by the Tufnell Park Tube station. I found it really easy to get to the Queens Hotel from Heathrow. - It's quiet. I only stayed here 3 nights, but I never heard noise from any other residents. - Quite safe. They have 24-hour reception. The bad: - The ONLY bad thing about this place is the Wi-Fi. I stayed on floor 2 and their Wi-Fi did not reach up to my room. I wasn't too bothered as I have free international data through T-Mobile, but others with different cellular networks would find this really inconvenient. You can always go down to their lobby to use Wi-Fi if you really need it. I really have no qualms about the Queens Hotel. Others may not like it due to its lack of fancy things, but this place does not pretend to be fancy. It's clean, comfortable, and the reception is very nice and helpful.

The hotel kind of felt like a maze and is not intuitive to find rooms but it's quiet and otherwise affordable, safe, and feels like old school London vibes. Between each floor there are public bathrooms which were a little odd but I guess convenient The rooms were otherwise ok clean, plenty of chargers accommodating every kind of adaptor there is with hot water/coffee tea station. No toiletries, thus bring your own. You can leave your luggage with them if you are wandering around, relatively safe. it's stored in halls of the first floor though thus would NOT leave passports or large sums of money in them. Wouldn't choose this location again not bc it was necessarily bad but I think I can find better hotels for relative same price. London is overall pricey to stay in especially nearer to attractions.
