The negatives are: somewhat confusing entrance and check-in (look left at sundries counter for check-in crew at workstations), a fair amount of overhead airplane traffic noise (if you leave your windows open), confusing differently named hotel above the 6th floor (!), and a very tall shower/tub step-in that could be challenging (if not dangerous) for older adults and younger children - also the grab bar is pretty high - either way, be careful when getting out of the shower and watch that fixed glass edge when drying off. All that said, this hotel is a superb, high-value option for London that totally delivers on contemporary design, tech and cleanliness. Tip: If you stay here be sure to walk West on Lillie to North End Road and explore all the wonderful cafes and shops that run all along North End Road. This is the real London with very few tourists - it's a little gritty but safe and well worth your travel time.

There was always at least two staff. The doorman was nice too and showed me how to use the outdoor handicapped lift so I didn't have to carry my heavy luggage up 4 or so steps. Complained to the front desk in person a second time and they upgraded us to a really nice room (room 214) with a hotel directory and air conditioning that worked and a king size bed and no cracked walls at no additional charge even after I asked how much it would cost to upgrade to this room (which I would have gladly paid) so I gave them more stars than the one star that I was initially was going to give them.

There are some restaurants in the area, but you'll mostly find residences and other hotels along the same street, plus a few local markets. WiFi was free and reliable. There's a coin laundry near Pimlico if you need it. No complaints at all. I feel like I got exactly what I paid for.

We were very close to the British Museum, and just a few minutes walk from St. Pancras and Kings Cross stations which allowed us to get to several locations throughout London very quickly. Because it has given us so much laughter and shared ridiculous memories that maybe it's magical in that weird British way. As a gay couple, feeling welcomed in a hotel is important and it was definitely that. We only stopped in the restaurant for late night dessert and coffee. But heard wonderful things from people. We just preferred to wander about and find bistros and restaurants around the area. There were a few hiccups. A clogged shower drain that flooded the bathroom the first night, which they fixed. And the A/C was not particularly cold or air-conditioning. And the nighttime staff was underwhelming; barely looking up to smile or even acknowledge you when you walked in or came downstairs. They weren't particularly helpful. (Waited for an hour to get ice and clean towels at 11 p.m.) But people like Michael made the stay a definite four-star experience. Definitely recommend.

After a significantly delayed flight, my partner and I did not arrive at the hotel until approximately 5:00 AM. We were traveling with all of our luggage and had booked the room beginning the previous night specifically so that we would be able to check in upon our late arrival. When I approached Omar and explained that I was checking in, he immediately responded that check-in was not until 3:00 PM. I explained that we had booked the room for the previous night. When my partner, who is a white man, arrived at the desk and repeated essentially the same information, Omar proceeded to assist him with the check-in. What happened next made the interaction even more concerning. After providing my partner with the room keys, Omar asked me whether I was with him. I had been the person who initially approached the desk and attempted to check us in, yet I was effectively disregarded until my partner intervened. I then asked whether a room with two beds was available. Omar stated that this was not what we had booked. Rather than continue an already uncomfortable interaction, I told him to forget about the request. I subsequently asked Omar for a late checkout. He told me that I would have to wait for the manager. My partner then asked for the same late checkout, and Omar/amar/umar (don't know how to spell his name) granted the request to him. The contrast in treatment was noticeable enough that my partner independently asked me why the front-desk employee seemed to have an issue with me and why he was being accommodating toward him while being unnecessarily rude and dismissive toward me. To summarize, I made reasonable requests related to our reservation and was repeatedly met with resistance or dismissal. My white male partner made the same or substantially similar requests and was accommodated. This occurred without any provocation or inappropriate behavior on my part. I understand that individual requests may be subject to hotel policy and availability. My complaint is not simply that a particular request was initially denied. It is that the same staff member treated two guests associated with the same reservation materially differently within the same interaction, with my partner receiving assistance and accommodations immediately after I was dismissed or denied. The disparate treatment was obvious enough that my partner noticed and commented on it without prompting. Given the pattern of the interaction, get the manager for proper assistance especially towards women and/or POC..
